  1. Wisconsin State Journal link. Text follows since I don't know how long the link will last. This story doesn't directly say Bud will really retire as commissioner in 2012, but his plans (which I'd heard about a year ago) for post-commish life are certainly taking shape.
  2. Thus leading to an asterisked sign in MP?
  3. Well, many if not most of us here pay to see actual games and (to varying degrees) tolerate sideshow antics. When people started dressing themselves (any age) as beasts, and the Brewers implemented not only monster-based hit/homerun graphics but also a Beast-Mode-Cam, it certainly became a fan entertainment thing. Unlike "cardinal nation," I'm not into begrudging others their fun (unless it comes specifically at someone else's expense), but the beast-mode thing was fun and kind of charming when it was relatively spontaneous. Once it became manufactured (literally and figuratively), it was less fun for me.
  4. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif It'll help if you avoid FOX the next 4-10 days.
  5. I was hoping you'd update the date in your avatar. For those of you unaware, my avatar used to grace the County Stadium scoreboard, dancing happily across the two-toned screen.
  6. Completely the first thing I thought of, too. Unlike WGN, at least these announcers are from a different hemisphere.
  7. So I suppose you'd all feel let down if you knew the Brewers asked me to throw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight. Well, no worries, because if that's their plan, it's a surprise to me too. Plus my "throw" would make Shaun Marcum's last start look masterful.
  8. Who among us will not be thinking of that nickname when the Brewers' (most likely) 6 spot is at bat tonight?
  9. And it wouldn't be a possible elimination game thread without this time-honored image: http://image.bokus.com/images2/9780273704577_large_must-win-battles
  10. pretendastronaut will add his customary stellar graphics Sunday afternoon, but there's no reason why we can't start commenting in the morning. Dear Brewers: You know what's within your reach. You can take another step today. I've been grateful for the bonus baseball you've earned this year, but without wanting to sound overly greedy, let's not let the season end just yet. Have fun, and good luck. Love you, hawing
  11. A Brew Crew Ball poster who lives in Armenia has been watching the NLCS on ESPN America with Russian announcers. Click here to see his favorites of their comments. I can't speak for everyone here, but I'm kind of tense about Sunday's game, so I appreciated the good laugh this brought.
  12. Congratulations, young guns. And thablingster, I think your polo needs purification before it can be worn again.
  13. Are you going to Sunday's game? If you are and you're willing, list at least your general location. SoCal Brew Crew Fan is coming (from SoCal) and was asking me what bf.netters will be around. I'll be in 222, middle of row 15. I am contemplating breaking out the home Sharpie jersey, which (despite the mojo you'd think it would have) sports a 2-0 lifetime record in the postseason. Of course, SCBCF didn't disclose his location to me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  14. That was a nightmarish bottom of the 3rd for Detroit. If anyone drops a nine-spot the next two days, I hope it's Milwaukee.
  15. I like this. I'd like it if Simba's most recent activity with the Brewers had ended better than it did. Brandon Phillips actually sounds kind of appealing, if it gets in STL's heads instead of serving as the first-pitch equivalent of bulletin board fodder. I think Aaron or Cooper.
  16. I remember that feeling, and how things turned out the last time I felt that way.
  17. I think face value in the terrace is $175. I don't know about the bleachers. Our seats in the loge are $225.
  18. As recently as mid-July, this page had audio links to pre- and post-game interviews and game highlights. Now it appears to only be pre-and post-game interviews. Anyone know why? After some of these recent exciting games, we purposedly didn't hustle back to the car, thinking we could catch the calls online later...but now there are still some epic games whose calls I've not heard. My first thought was that there could be something extra proprietary about Postseason audio highlights, but the current display on the link above includes regular season game dates, still no highlights.
  19. Save us, Zack Greinke. 1-0 for Friday, Brewers. You know the drill by now. Have fun and good luck.
  20. I guess it depends on how you define "consistent": in terms of general climate conditions (temperature, precip, etc.) or of light/shadows. One could make a case for either.
  21. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (would collapse with relief if I didn't really have to go to the bathroom)
