  1. I think they started promoting the 2011 on deck event about this time in 2010, which I thought was sad at the time, because there clearly wasn't much else Brewers to get excited about (except the lingering prospect of save 600). This year there's obviously more shorter-term excitement, but I fully expect there are On Deck 2012 ads at the ballpark this weekend.
  2. My guess is that Betancourt really hasn't been bothered by it. He's been in the league six years, so you can't really blame the Brewers for the mistake.I wonder if Brewers are the first team he's notified of the preferred pronunciation.
  3. Yeah, the decision of what to post for "19" (whenever it is warranted) should be pretty straightforward.
  4. http://cf.mp-cdn.net/58/d1/e073301aa19f584e6f090c1fca67.jpg I'm mildly disappointed I couldn't find a photo of Bad Chad on a Harley.

  6. Stupid Lance. Well, John, make it not matter as much.
  7. So I was at the clinic today for my annual exam, and one of the vitals the nurse gathers at the start is temperature. She told me my temperature was 99.9 degrees and asked if I was coming down with something. I said I felt fine. Her response: "Well, when the battery gets low on this it gives high readings." I took my temperature upon arriving home and it was 98.4. So she may be right, but wouldn't that be incentive to keep the battery charged?
  8. OK, I edited the subject line to reflect the correct year. For those of you ready to think about winter and 2012 and the next off-season, here's a link to the press release.
  9. Welcome home, Brewers! We are ready to see the magic number diminish anytime you are. Why not start with 1-0 for Friday?
  10. Since Irene (the storm) is not forecast to hit Wisconsin, I thought better of posting about it in the Wisconsin spring/summer/fall weather thread. But it certainly looks like disruption on the way. I'm glad the Brewers are not on an east coast trip. Those of you in the path, take care.
  11. In Madison the crazy hot and humid stretch began July 17 and ran through most if not all of the following work week. Do you have a dehumidifier too? That wouldn't be quite the electricity hog that AC is, but if the dewpoint in Fondy was anything like the dewpoint in Madison, dehumidifiers would have been running nonstop.
  12. Nice. They can't even get away with claiming they meant Wednesday, August 23, 2012 since next year is a leap year and August 23 will be on a Thursday.
  13. I hate to put Trevor in an unfavorable light, but this photo follows my favorite TGJ play: http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2008/0212/mlb_ap_hoffman_200.jpg
  14. Picking up games on any road trip would have been nearly unthinkable a few months ago. So...go Dodgers.
  15. Ahh, I thought the 11:35 was when the radio pregame started, not the game game. Well, 1-0 for Wednesday, Brewers. Then come home!
  16. Looking at this again Tuesday night, I realized that we know the Brewers employee in the left background. He used to be our usher in TB 417 during the otherwise down years of the 2000s, and he's now stationed near the visitors' dugout. Never in my life did it occur to me that someone I know might someday appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. For me, it just adds to the awesome.
  17. So, not only did bill hALL Star jump the gun, he used the Rickie photo I was going to post. So here's second best: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/images/2005/06/25/NYG3NhQs.jpg I know some of you remember this night.

  19. I think just on principle, we should hold off on the "next magic number" until the needed win or loss is over. I promise I'll unhide bill hAll Star's post in (very probably) a few minutes.
  20. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/04/26/lNOEJuPG.jpg Mench Mench Mench Mench MENCH. http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/nctimes.com/content/tncms/assets/editorial/3/4b/d8e/34bd8eb2-2299-54bb-9ab9-83b951f13f60.preview-300.jpg John Vander Wal, the guy two months younger than I am. http://cdn.sportsmemorabilia.com/sports-product-image/77-t288801-500.jpg Chris Magruder. MAGRUDER.
  21. One of my student employees is taking an opera class at UW-Madison this fall. I am pretty sure it's a listening class, not a performing class.
  22. I'd originally intended to post here, "As long as it's not an SI cover appearance." So I guess we have a new myth to bust. The photo does look pretty sweet, and at least I'll feel less uncomfortable buying this than I did the issue of Maxim.
  23. We have several extra 2011 hot dog bobbles. (Or are you hoping one poster can set you up with all the 2011s?)
  24. Well...this stuff happens. Reset for Tuesday, Brewers.
