  1. This reminds me a great deal of the guy who sits behind us at UW men's hoops games. Nothing is good enough and it's always OK to crap on the college kids who missed the dunk or whatever. He has a rotation of people he brings with him who enable and contribute to this behavior. I too have been tempted to turn around and ask why they come to games, or if they really think they could do better themselves. The worst part was a few years ago, when he and his chums were ragging on Andreas Helmigk, pretty much because he was foreign. I was sorely tempted to ask why they didn't rip on Kirk Penney too. Anyway, I remember, MJLiverock, that my S.O.'s sister's football tickets are not far from yours. She came back from the Oregon State game and said she felt surrounded by OSU fans, enough to wonder if that's where they seat visiting fans now. She was not at the UNLV game, so we don't know if this is the new normal for that section or just how it was for OSU. Maybe I'll ask if she has noticed this guy. (If we get to a game with her at all, it won't be until after baseball ends...so I hope it takes a while. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  2. That's my guess too. I'm OK with their being cautious with Rickie's return. 1-0 for Tuesday, Brewers. Also, Let's Go Bucs! even though it means rooting for Jeff "Thugmaster HBP" Karstens. But it's either him or Chris Carpenter, so that makes it easier.
  3. I feel like I should post here, because...you know.
  4. As is surprisingly often the case, The Simpsons can help us out here:
  5. http://image.timepassagesnostalgia.com/watermarked/imagesc3/c347morris.jpg That was one finicky feline!
  6. I'm impressed that so many of you had enough confidence in the Pirates to have your #9 photos queued up tonight. I decided to avoid the jinx by waiting until the last out was recorded to even start looking. But now that it is... http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRE4IDRiCajXZtdEhBWz5GZzo1Dwk2fRU_LfPkfYR6Jg7aCNP9M 1984 wasn't just a chilling futuristic novel; it was also a season for the Brewers. The up side was that 1984 was the year I realized I wasn't just a fair-weather fan. Thanks, Rene! and Welcome, single digits!
  7. I'll share in this sentiment until September 26:
  8. Yeah, not to pile on, but I too wondered whether the lead post was supposed to be "griping" or "gripping." Either could fit. Ultimately, whenever the Brewers clinch is good with me. Maybe not the 27th, as that is the only game in that last homestand to which we don't have tickets. Talk about your first-world problems. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Same here. Over time, I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum that in 1995, before George Petak infamously changed his vote and Miller Park was anything but a sure thing, I'd prepared a mental short list of teams I'd consider following in case the Brewers relocated and instantly became my anti-franchise. If this possibility reared its ugly head again, I'd probably return to the same list. (The Cubs were not on my 1995 list and would not be on a future list, as their only possible appeal to me is their relative proximity.) I'd want to seriously rethink my Brewers fandom if TLR became the manager. His history as a "champion" is for me way overshadowed by the mindgames and whining (and to a lesser extent the drinking).
  10. http://www.impactlab.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Jazz-Hands-244.jpg Jazz Hands = 10! (for most people)
  11. I agree with pebadger on the "pretty good" for today. Of course we'd have preferred that they not be in the position of having to avoid the sweep today, but I did not feel like Sunday's game (or what I saw of Saturday's) had the David vs. Goliath vibe with which I think many approached this series. Our seat neighbors in 217 sported a lot of Axford and a lot of Plush today. The junior announcer kid (who usually sits with his/her family two rows in front of us) was all plushed out, with even some glitter writing on the bill of his cap: "I'm Plush'in." He was so excited when Nyjer drove in the RBI and then scored himself. I'd like to see some STL fan try to convince me that that nice looking kid is a classless thug. Thanks, Brewers, for ending the losing streak. We are as relieved as you looked. I'll see you next on Wednesday!
  12. TLR's normal mindgames didn't work, so they found another way to get in the Brewers' heads. Classy, as ever.
  13. http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQYRASY-dHSeJLU3ZekljIIHO4pxFYRiljtAWLFx_nLxjcpqBfo http://img28.exs.cx/img28/962/krynzel.jpg Oh, thread, I missed you. Let's not let six days pass between updates anymore, OK?
  14. I'm in agreement - even if the specific word "doomsday" doesn't appear in these negative (and in some cases repetitive) posts. Some of them almost sound like their authors are hoping to be right. It's hard to maintain patience right now, but I'd rather be up 6 games than down 6. You've every right to switch to football if that's less frustrating for you, but if you are tired of the Brewers, take a break from this forum so those of us who still enjoy baseball aren't driven away. That's what I'm going to do for the rest of this evening. Good night.
  15. Luc? Help a fan out. Actually, help thousands of fans out. I even wore a gold shirt and it makes my face look washed out!
  16. Taylor Green could make a lot of casual fans stop wondering who he is...
  17. SoCal's in Wisconsin? With no advance word to the rest of us? Come on, Brewers. I'd like you to seriously consider ending this game in the 9th. Ax gets a W, the number finally changes, win win win.
  18. Atlanta needs some of the two-out-magic the Cardinals got last night, and they need it pronto. Edit: Too late. Classies win, 4-3.
  19. Psst, Ryan, you don't have to wait until September 28 to come up with a big hit. Edit: That'll do for now.
  20. Same goes for the Bucky Did Your Mom shirts. Seriously, there's a zillion styles of Badger T-shirt and you pick that one?
  21. Nice ovation. So...with a BB do you now pinch-run for him? I see. You do. Don't run stupid, Gogo or Josh.
  22. The remorseless baseball machine leads Atlanta, 3-0 in the third. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  23. OK, Randy: Don't. give. up. more. runs. I'm asking nicely.
  24. With C. Lee starting tonight, I don't know the odds...but tonight would be an excellent night for a good, big game. Big crowd, maybe a lot of gold, big potential-postseason excitement. Under the lights! My only misgiving is that the Sunday after a big Saturday night game usually doesn't live up to the Saturday vibe...but at this point I'd consider taking one for the team.
