  1. Some friends of ours are bringing their daughter to her first MLB game tonight (unless you count her in-utero experience last September when Trevor Hoffman recorded his 600th save). Save us, Zack Greinke, and don't let little Eleanor down!
  2. Pages are loading slower than Johnny Estrada ran when he was a Brewer. It takes me several "enter" attempts" to navigate at all.
  3. It's unfortunate that this comes at the expense of the Pirates, but the ripple effect on the twitterverse is sort of amusing, at least from a linguistic point of view.
  4. Oh, my goodness. How much does that scream "let's end this game"? And how will Chris Carpenter explain this to his son?
  5. Woohoo! Take that, glove flopper. Keep the pedal to the metal, Brewers. We'll be driving through severe thunderstorms (for the eleventy billionth time) to watch you Wednesday.
  6. Fixed that for you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  7. If the 'Stros beat Milwaukee on Friday with my 11 year old nephew in the house, it's on your head. Your. Head.
  8. Wouldn't that probably be PERFECTO* (with an asterisk)? At least CC doesn't have to contend with the PNC Park scorer. Whoever's in the chat room, hold tight. I'll join you as soon as Yuku permits it.
  9. Cy McFlappyglove. It's funny and sad, because it's true. Glove flap, baby, glove flap. Go Brewers.
  10. We are taking my 11-year-old nephew to Friday's game. He and I had this conversation the other day: Nephew: Who do the Brewers play that night? hawing: 'Stros. Nephew: So, they might win this time. (The Brewers' record when he attends games is so-so at best)
  11. Hey-oh! It would be even funnier if it wasn't half true. That's what I figured was going on, and given how it went with Casey, I wouldn't have totally minded a Yo at-bat.
  12. Uecker: "Buncha whiners out there. They whine about everything!"
  13. You're partly there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. That is a very Sunday lineup. Here's hoping this is one of the days the Brewers team up to overcome it.
  15. Or, as I've long said since the days of Fernando Vina, 'keep your mind on the drive.' I don't want to see Angry Nyjer like MLB did last season.
  16. Brewers.com says that Saturday's game (7/23) is an 8:05 PM CDT start, and Sunday's (7/24) starts at 3:05. Did you mean a different weekend?
  17. Good god, MJLiverock. I suppose that story is awesome now, maybe not so much when it was happening to you. The style of UW-Madison housing violations that can get you into University (not just housing) suspension-ville are fairly major: assault, theft, selling prohibited substances, stuff like that. If something like that has happened, it'll probably turn up if he does reapply because my employer does background checks for every hire (including re-hires). Then again, if he is able to reapply, it'll be because his appeal was successful. Ehh, it'll become clearer soon enough.
  18. Those commercials make me wonder how someone with Tom Brokaw's diction/enunciation made a career out of on-air journalism. 4-4 at this point is better than I was fearing at times this road trip. Here's hoping that getting out of Arizona will snap Prince out of his funk.
  19. I don't mind your asking, but I sent you a PM with the answer. Hope that doesn't bug the rest of you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Yeah, see, to someone under 10 years old, a weather cat puppet wasn't all bad. I still remember my mom being mad at Ward Allen once in the 1970s after we got (as she put it) "nine inches of flurries!" I'm tired of the media's incredible overuse of "Breaking News." WTMJ-AM sticks in my craw particularly, as seemingly half the time their "breaking news" isn't happening anywhere near Wisconsin. If it's not Wisconsin and it's not something like new terror attacks, I question whether it's breaking.
  21. "Carroll" also makes me think of Jamey (aka creepy eyebrows guy), so I'll go along with calling #15 Brett. With all due respect to our MT/PT bf.netters, I am glad Friday is the last really late start time.
  22. I employ college students at my library. One of the guys from last spring emailed me today to report that he's facing suspension for fall semester due to conduct violations in the dorms. He is appealing the decision and wonders if I'd be willing to write a supportive statement on his behalf. Nothing about his on-the-job performance would have made me expect a suspension situation for him, but dang if I want to make that kind of a statement without knowing something about what he did. He said he'd provide more information if I wanted it. But this already looks like one of those "if you have to ask, you don't want to know the answer" kind of situations. I know the kinds of things it takes to get kicked out of Housing, much less off a UW campus, so the answer is not likely to be good. I don't have enough information yet to know whether this is a lost cause, but bummer if it is, because this guy has been a good employee and if he doesn't or can't return, that's one more new person I have to hire and train in September. I want some energy left that month to follow a pennant race!
