  1. Here's the link, and the contents: It doesn't look like the same day, but within about a week of last year's pace. Still, not bad, considering the economy and the lack of a 2009 postseason (not to mention the on field results this last homestand).
  2. Oh, just what I needed...a return dose of Eckstein hatred. I'd almost managed to block my memories of that guy. Come on, Sharpie.
  3. The University is having a photo shoot for Bucky Badger in the Reading Room of my library right now. It's entertaining.
  4. I get what you're saying, but why would any change in role have to be permanent? Lately, running Trevor out for the 9th is resembling Einstein's definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. In an earlier inning, at least there is more of a chance for the team to rebound if he does continue to implode. Right now is when it would be neat to be a mind reader so we could know what's going on in these guys' heads.
  5. I think it's too early for season-length demoralization, i.e. writing off the 2010 Brewers on April 28 (or earlier, seemingly, for some of us). AJAY's reminder above that the 2008 Brewers spent time in 6th place is an example of how early performance doesn't always tell the whole story. I also think the Brewers (or Brewer fans, at least) have experienced an uncommon number of gut-wrenching losses in a fairly short span. I've already experienced short-term, until-the-next-game demoralization a couple of times this month. In my case, it doesn't help that I've attended three of the Miller Park gut punchers and two on the road. Tough games are harder to take when they play out in front of my face. I try to keep an open mind and see how everything plays out. I really try not to assume anything. It's certainly possible that the Brewers will never fire on all (or enough) cylinders in 2010, but I'd rather just watch the season unfold than assume a playoff berth, locked-in failure for the rest of our lives, or anything in between. So I would say there is cause for concern and even temporary bouts of demoralization, but no reason to give up or spend the next five months assuming things will stay like this.
  6. Link to McCalvy story One one hand, Adam used the word "tweaked," which doesn't sound so severe. On the other hand, he also said that Macha was ready to send Kottaras to the OF in Diego's place, had there been a 15th inning.
  7. Maybe guys don't 'hide' injuries, but in the spirit of the thread title I was pondering the question anyway. And as for "until their performance suffers"...I daresay Trevor's there.
  8. By my reckoning, Kottaras is the only position player left. Suppan is the only non-starter arm who hasn't participated today. If Randy ".500" Wolf hadn't just pitched a ton last night, I'd put him in to PH if needed.
  9. Slight silver lining: bonus baseball means bonus Bob. Edit: Siddown, Devil-Eye Doumit!
  10. They're playing Jump Around at the park again. It worked last night, in the 8th at least. That scraping noise you hear is me at the bottom of the barrel.
  11. What advantage is there to hiding an injury? I'm not asking to challenge Invader3K, just wondering. If it's a pride thing, I'd have to say the strategy is backfiring.
  12. The Brewers are struggling. Your statement sounds unnecessarily final.
  13. I agree. The recent results are overshadowing all the positives about Trevor Time. Trevor doesn't strike me (sorry for the bad pun) as one whose ego is so inflated or so fragile that he wouldn't realize or care that the status quo is harming the team. On the silver lining side, he's done for the day. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  14. Sweet lord. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I suppose he's been nothing if not consistent. Please tell me someone's warming up in the bullpen.
  15. Jebus. I get the whole "get back on the bike" concept, but the part of me that saw the meltdowns on April 9, 11 and 27 is cringing - I'll admit it. I'd be tempted to stop monitoring the game, but it could be Bob's last half-inning for a while. So...conflicted. Trevor. Give Bob a good last call for now. I'm asking you to do this for Uecker. Uecker!
  16. I wonder how many times Evan Meek has heard lame jokes about inheriting the earth. Per Bob (sigh), Casey McGehee's wife is scheduled to deliver their child tomorrow, so he'll not travel to SD until Friday. Also per Bob (sigh again): "Meek just went to his mouth, so apparently that's okay now."
  17. It's still early...but I have no idea. If Trevor has a dead arm or a sore finger or whatever, I wish he'd just own up to it. Nice work by The Troy. His pitch count in the 8th was 11.
  18. Is he wearing batting gloves? Corey!! We'll have to get used to relying on Cory's home run calls, won't we?
  19. Pretendastronaut, feel free to merge with a thread featuring your sweet graphics. I thought I'd start just because it's 15 minutes to first pitch. http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/2010/4/27/492998-218x150.jpg No, Ueck was joking in his presser yesterday about being added to the active roster. But it's our last chance to hear him call a game for a while, and even 10-12 weeks will be too long. Come on, Brewers. I've truly had my share of baseball kicks to the groin this month. Edit: Here's the real Brewers' starter: http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/gallery/090924/GAL-09Sep24-2682/media/PHO-09Sep24-179207.jpg Bring it, Narv-dog!
  20. I guess we can look at this as a trial run for "Brewers baseball without Bob." I'll admit that I wasn't following each game quite as closely in 1991 (during Bob's last medical leave), so this will be all but new for me too. There was a nice standing ovation for Bob during Tuesday night's game (prompted by his being shown on the videoboard). Anyone going today should expect something similar in the middle innings.
  21. Poor baby. He looks like a sweet boy...not that you didn't already know that.
  22. I'll admit to only the barest interest in the NBA, but that video of Bango is terrific. It made me laugh after getting home from Tuesday's Brewer game, and that's saying something. I love Bango, and it only made the video funnier that every Hawks fan in it is wearing the same #15 jersey.
