I agree that he has sounded raspy, I would say for the last few weeks. Listening to the press conference, I think he sounds raspy right now. Edit: the presser makes it sound like this is something they've been following for a while, which is encouraging (to an extent). Man. Well, Bob, we'll keep the seats warm for you in the meantime. Take care.
I'm trying to take small comfort from knowing the surgery is scheduled for Friday, rather than underway right this minute because something severe happened. But MadScientist is right: no heart surgery is minor. There's a 3:30 press conference at Miller Park. I imagine its contents will be simulcast on the radio and/or internets. Most importantly, best wishes to Bob. I know he doesn't use his Pocket Doppler to read Brewerfan, but he should know he has a whole Brewer nation pulling hard for him. Edit: The presser is going to be on AM 1070 in Madison, 620 in Milwaukee.
Yep, I've since found the reports on the injured kid. Thanks. At one of the exhibition games early this month, we had seats right by the Brewers' on deck circle, and I wondered if that's where the fan got hit. It looks like it was farther back.
I had this exact thought last night. Great minds, on Brewerfan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Myday2001: about where in the stands was the kid who was injured by Esco's bat? Cory P. mentioned that on the radio last night but never followed up that I heard. While I'm happy for the wins, like pitchleague I am a little uneasy with the streak of beatdowns. The mindset Pirates fans must be in right now is probably not that different from how many of us felt as Brewer fans in the late 1990s and early 2000s. I remember how that felt. Still, this is an uncommon sequence for most any team to follow, so I'll find a way to enjoy it, if only for the novelty.
Honestly, I like the idea of throwing Soup out there. If the Pirates score on him, what better litmus test could there be? And yeah, it's awesome, though I'm starting to hope they save something for tomorrow night. Do it for me, Brewers.
I can't help you with Inglett's music, but I hope that whenever George Kottaras leaves the Brewers, he goes next to the Angels, Dodgers, Giants or Padres, so we can cleverly post that he's going, going, back, back, to Cali, Cali.
Capitaltigers and his wife are going May 16 (the Sunday Night Baseball game). As a bonus, you won't have to listen to the ESPN guys! Section 126 should be pretty sweet. I might have some photos at home from section 124; if I find any I'll post them so you can get an idea of the angle. The Miller Park seating chart also allows you to see a representative view from each section, by clicking on the section number The photo for 126 looks taken from the back of the section. It seems you should be either right by or just beyond the tarp (yes, there is a tarp, despite the roof).
It's well documented that I am an enthusiastic fan of the Sharpie, but even I would like to see someone else pitching now, for just the reasons Ennder cited. Edit: and he's out now. Got his ERA down to 8.35, which at least is an improving trend.
Yeah, Doug, I'm one of your biggest fans and your recent performance threatens to make me look more like a dork than usual. So please? http://content.etilize.com/Large/11969435.jpg
For what it's worth, Adam McCalvy's blog has a new entry this afternoon titled Suppan's rotation spot in doubt. There's not much in it, but the phrase now exists on a relatively official source.
Well, his next scheduled start is vs. the Pirates, whom 3/4 of the rest of the rotation were able to shut down (Davis hasn't faced them yet). It could be a litmus test. The thing that bugs me is that Soup remains in the rotation despite the team's general stance that performance matters. I'd feel oddly better about it (better being a relative term) if Ken or Doug or Mark would just come out and say it's the money that keeps Jeff in the starting five.
