  1. Unless he's testing the Braden Looper method of giving up home runs, then somehow persuading his teammates to come through with the bats so maybe no one will notice.
  2. Oh, wow, yes. I've never been a fan of the American Idolized national anthem performance, but this was particularly bad. And Bob noticed it: "Destiny...missed it." By the way, the chat room is occupied, with plenty of room.
  3. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0XTsSbguLu0/S245wB7btRI/AAAAAAAAEaI/nEvRmIx2Wcc/s400/2010Topps001.jpg Nice! I trust that Cardinal Nation will now launch a boycott of Topps.
  4. talbertin, since your pack is a fan's choice, I'm curious to know whether the tickets arrived with the "sorry if your location isn't as prime as you were hoping for" memo that came with fan's choice packs in 2009 and 2008. This would be the one that cites the increased popularity of season ticket packages. If it weren't there, that would make me wonder if the season ticket base shrunk noticeably for 2010 (due to some combination of the economy and the Brewers' relatively poor showing in 2009). And yes, I realize I wonder too much about some things. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This is the first year I can think of that we do not have a fan's choice pack, so we won't get the memo in any case.
  5. I'll be at a nephew's birthday party during today's game...but maybe that will make the chat room all the more fun for the rest of you?
  6. Hmm. I'm not going to start boozing it up (nor do we usually fuel at BP stations, which I suppose would be another location for them), but maybe I'll check the liquor store counter when we get groceries at Woodman's this weekend. Tip of the cap to you if you can get rid of those other schedules. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. I found today's delivery just sitting on the front steps under our mailbox, in a Priority Mail box. It's fortunate we live in a pretty safe neighborhood. I was surprised the carrier didn't at least put it on the front porch, where it would have been out of sight (and where most of our packages are left). Should anyone wonder, Prince is on the front of the 2010 pocket schedule.
  8. Our Sunday Plus pack arrived today, providing a very fine distraction from an afternoon of Big Ten Tournament basketball that didn't go my way. I'd have guessed that full season packages would be mailed before 20-packs and smaller...but ewizabeff hasn't been home to check her mail. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Honestly, it's just nice to finally have some pocket schedules. I haven't seen any in Madison (though I haven't looked hard) and our single game ticket orders came with no schedules tucked in. Of course, by this time next month I'll have more than I can shake a stick at. Yay - the end of the off-season seems more real every day.
  9. Ugh, I saw that on the big screen at the Union. Of course you know, Ohio State needs all the good luck it can muster. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Will this improve the chance of Evan Turner bolting for the NBA? (hawing asked hopefully; and ignorantly, in case it's been well established that he's gone after the next month) And as for Wisconsin, neither they nor we should look ahead right now.
  10. Yes. Yes, he was. And the Badgers did later face Kentucky.
  11. I'd already located those kits online - thanks - but they list only road and home options, not the alternate jerseys. Blue letters wouldn't do me any good. If it turns out they do have white letter/number kits, the $30+ cost is still probably cheaper than looking for an also-ran's navy jersey from the Brewers (with a P and an A).
  12. At the 2009 clubhouse sale I purchased for myself a blue 2008 Iribarren jersey, when he wore #26. I'd been interested for a while in getting a blue jersey, and since Hernan isn't the hugest Brewer ever, his jersey actually fits me ok. I joked at the time that if the Hurricane flames out or is traded, I could just acquire a P and an A and convert the jersey to an up-to-date looking Parra. Now that Hernan's departure seems a possibility, I wonder if anyone knows where to look for jersey letters in the Brewers' uniform font. Since it's a blue jersey, the letters need to be white with gold trim. If worse came to worst, I figure I could scour the clearance racks for a cheap navy jersey whose name includes P and A, and raid it for parts (so to speak). But I imagine if anyone knows how to get just the two letters, it'll be someone on this board. Thanks for any ideas you might have. (Note: for uniform/memorabilila purists, I haven't ruled out simply wearing the jersey in its original Hurricane glory. Part of the value of this garment for me is that it's from 2008, that magical season.)
  13. At least he didn't say "zim zam." Putting Ken in a zim zam seems to give a player about as much hope as the nameless redshirt ensign in a Star Trek episode. During an in-game chat the other day, 1992casey and I coined Zim Zam Macha as a nickname. Conundrum Macha wouldn't work at all. You, sir, are more optimistic on this issue than I am...thinking Suppan will make it through 4.
  14. And another of my Brewers rummage sale jersey purchases loses relevance. Dang it! (except that the Iribarren jersey actually fits me reasonably well; and it's from 2008, which will always make it a little more special)
  15. I think the hawing party of two is in for this blockbuster event. Notice I didn't put that in blue. I'm sure you were all waiting for me to respond, so I'll just sit back and watch the RSVP posts flood in.
  16. I'm thinking once the snow all melts. On my walk home today the fog had finally lifted from the campus area, but as I approached the residential part of the bike/ped path, just west of the stadium, a lot more snow was left and the path was enveloped in a ghostly fog. It was neat to look at, a little chilly to walk through. (sorry, RyDogg)
  17. Oh no, Yovani and Soup now each have a 5.40 ERA this spring. DFA them both!
  18. Stepping aside from the state teams for a moment...I really enjoy Championship Week. When we finally got cable in 1993, it was installed just in time for the start of Championship Week, and I was immediately enthralled with watching all those non-major conference foes battle each other, fans going crazy and storming the court sometimes, knowing they're going to be a 16 seed and fodder for Duke or whoever in a few days but still fully enjoying the moment. I even made up my own Championship Week chant (more applicable to the beginning of the week): "You're-the play-in (clap clap clap-clap-clap)."
  19. If I could only pick one name, I'd have to go with Crazy Carlos Zambrano. Ugh. Since I can pick other names, I'd have to give it further thought. But you now have my knee jerk reaction.
  20. Brian and Bill sound pretty skeptical of the "safe" call on Norris Hopper scoring, but I'll take the tying run, thank you very much.
  21. Norris Hopper in to pinch run for Corey Hart. They should call him a pinch hopper. 2-3 is the 7th inning score. C'mon, Brewers.
  22. Miller Park has Nathan's? Where? I've taken to favoring the soy dog over hot dogs because they're so much less salty. But with the potato bar and Cactus League Nachos (and taco salads) near our seats, it's hard not to spring for the pricier food sometimes.
  23. With the U.S. population chock full of aging boomers, presumably a bunch of them need bifocals to be able to see clearly. So why do so many eyeglass frames have lenses that are too short to accommodate bifocals?
