  2. Thanks. Yes, apparently I'm still brain damaged from last night's game! Lefty lineup it is. I'm going to admit to feeling a noticeable degree of dread while typing out "to accommodate ESPN." Prove me wrong, home team.
  3. As long as our guys take enough steroids. That's the only way anyone ever hits off him.

  5. Lose tonight? or lose the series, which might not be confirmed until Sunday?
  6. I've got to ask, gregmag: worse than Sal Bando? I still have fond memories of a blistering screed you posted here years ago about Bando.

  8. Dear Brewerfan.net fans, The In Game Thread is for discussion of games in progress. As if the postseason implications don't make the games stressful enough, the IGTs are getting taken off course, and we would like everyone to read the following and try to help out by adhering to these guidelines. Thanks for your cooperation. 1. Don’t assume people will ‘get’ your subtle sarcasm or your withering wit. It’s text people are reading - not your mind. Subtlety often gets lost in the written word - so don’t use it if you aren’t positive it will come across correctly. Or literally - make it blue font. 2. Do NOT post things that don’t have a clear meaning to the reader. Not everyone is watching the game. Don’t type little one offs like: - That was horrible. - He’s stupid. - Holy crap. - Counsell sucks. How about: - That was a horrible effort by the Pirates to hold the runner on base. - Josh Harrison was stupid to try and steal 3B with two outs. Dumb thing to do in that situation. - Holy crap, I can’t believe how far Braun hit that home run. - I didn’t like Counsell's decision to bunt. It just gives away an at bat. Just posting random rantings without context makes no sense to half the users, and annoys many of the others. Just stop. We understand that some of this kind of thing is a natural part of the IGT. Typing in 'Braun!' after an HR is okay. But to have half the posts just be one offs of people pissing and moaning isn't fun for anyone. 3. Do NOT repeat yourself ad nauseam. You don’t like Counsell - fine. Say so and be done with it. You think Thames looks bad - fine, say so then move on. People beating dead horses is one of the worst things that drags down a message board. Stop it. While a game is going on, don’t waste time complaining about the manager or the lineup or whatever every chance you get. Even better, go start a thread about crap like that if it’s so important. Don’t ruin the experience for everyone else by whining and complaining about your pet peeve. 4. If someone says or does something that is truly wrong (look at the etiquette guidelines if you’re not sure), report the post to a mod. We have banished many a person due to complaints. 5. As hard as it is - don’t respond to stupid comments. Some people weirdly find value in having people react to their posts - so hold your fire. Nothing sends a troll back under the bridge faster than if everyone just ignores him. Again, we know it's easier said than done - but doing so will really help the atmosphere of the IGT. 6. Skip the condescending comments. Things like, "Do you bother to even watch the games," or "You probably think the RBI is the best statistic," or "Spoken like a stat nerd who has never actually played the game," etc, etc. You're not being funny or witty or whatever - you're just being a jerk. And even IF a person deserves a bit of slapping down, just know it's going to potentially start a long exchange of whining and counter-whining. That does nothing other than obscure the original intent of your comment. Now everyone is focused on what a jerk you are - not that the original poster is making stupid comments. Just stop it before it even begins. Disagree - but politely. If a person is being an idiot, you can reply with an even hand and common sense. Besides, nothing drives an idiot poster crazy than someone simply dismantling their idiot comments in a cold, rational way. Thanks for everyone's cooperation. Go Brewers!

  11. To borrow a phrase from 2005: WE'RE NOT LOSERS! WE'RE NOT LOSERS! Old-school BF.netters might remember the IGT that included this post: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?p=79285#p79285 Behold the broken images and references to also-ran Brewers who somehow made a difference that night! 19. That I don't know, as I've only sat in the loge bleachers once and it was not on a Beerpen night.
  20. I'm unaware of season ticket holders having an edge at access to these seats. At least, if the SO got an email about it, he didn't tell me. His is the name on our account so he gets the official emails. When I called our rep this morning with a separate question, his outgoing voice mail message said that this weekend's tickets were a box office/general ticket office/website affair, which further gave me the impression that SSHs were not first in line. There is definitely a StubHub presence for this weekend's relocated games, though. I didn't peruse deeply to see how many were for field diamond box. Adam McCalvy has also corrected some information I heard last night. The Brewers will not be wearing road uniforms this weekend: their usual pinstripes on (retro) Friday and whites on Sat/Sun. They'll also take BP first, as would usually be the case.
  21. Not surprisingly, this was a hot topic of conversation at Wednesday night's game. We learned from our usher pals that the Brewers will be in their regular clubhouse and dugout, but will dress and bat as the visiting team. They are limiting attendance because they don't expect to be able to field a full staff of employees on such short notice. The end result is kind of like the end-of-spring-training exhibition games. I don't know if the selection of concessions will be affected, but I would not be entirely surprised if the full regular slate of food wasn't available. None of us knows the truly inside story, but my guess is the Brewers were tabbed because they have some experience with being a weather-related backup host for games, and doing so on short notice. I can see why fans of other teams in the race would be salty about Brewers fans getting three bonus games in Milwaukee, but for salty Cubs fans I would dare to remind them of their hurricane series with the Astros in 2008. There is nooooo reason to assume that the Brewers will make hay with this relocated series. We're going on Sunday and I'm looking forward to seeing what's different. The Brewers should obtain video of the Marlins' home run sculpture thingy, and play it if Stanton or another Marlin goes yard.
  22. Right. I'm sure every traveling secretary has horror stories, but you'd think this might be among them. I agree that although the stadium itself may be ready to host, the odds that the rest of the "game day infrastructure" is ready to roll seem...poor.
  23. There was still no decision made on the location of this series as of Wednesday morning. I'm a little surprised it's taking this long.
  24. I think that is the Miller Lite Beerpen cap, so you get it if you sit in the RF loge bleachers on Fridays or Saturdays.
