  2. As someone who was at "Hello Kitty Night" a couple weeks ago, I completely agree. Not even close to jumping the shark. I'm neither a fan of GoT or Hello Kitty. But for all those who are, it's a good way to attract casual Brewer fans, or even people who aren't fans at all. These give-away days are still huge. Our season ticket packages happened to hit Hello Kitty night, Grateful Dead night, and last night's GoT promotion. Neither of us is into any of those things, so we were definitely more there for the baseball, but the change in graphics for each night was sort of interesting. To me it's less annoying than 30,000 cubs fans. *shrug* Aside: No way were 32000+ people at the ballpark last night. So I imagine a bunch of those bobbles are for sale on the Bay of e.
  3. I believe it was 2011 and the Brewers were going into a series vs. the Cardinals in August. The Brewers were a couple games up, but there were no highlights of the first game of the series which the Brewers won; there was a graphic at the end of the sports broadcast, that's it. What got all the play? Packers and high school football, mainly a lengthy story about Columbus High School football. I believe this was Channel 3 in Madison. Quite a few channel 3 on-air anchors/reporters are fans of other teams. That's fair, but some don't even try to hide their disdain for the Brewers, which is noticeable and very annoying, and has been for a long time.
  4. Guess who's back, doing IGTs. Thanks to the mods who helped out while I was actually at games and work and stuff. 6. I envision introducing a HADERADE shirsey to my wardrobe. Most yellows don't look good on me, so I'd probably pass on a jersey.
  7. During Wednesday's game, I saw plenty of social media evidence of the cat who got out in Busch prior to STL taking the lead on Lucifer's grand slam. I knew immediately that #RALLYCAT would become a thing, the cat would be hyped and probably merchandised as was the 2011 squirrel, and had a terrible vision of STL becoming the 2017 world champions. I also knew that when my STL fan employee arrived at work today he'd be all RALLYCAT! YADI! SECOND PLACE! and it would take every ounce of maturity and restraint I had to not figuratively rip his head off. (Or literally, but the latter is really not my thing.) So right after lunch he was all I HAVE THE CUUUUUTEST THING TO SHOW YOU FROM LAST NIGHT and I said "if it's the cat, I already know about it." But yeah, he thinks IT'S A SIGN. Less than a week ago he was all THIS JUST ISN'T THEIR YEAR and MATHENY'S PROBABLY GONE and NOTHING'S GOING OUR WAY. Time for me to retune my tiny violin. (Aside #1: This employee has been here for almost a year and I really believe he doesn't say this stuff to taunt me. I think he's oblivious to my STL hatred.) (Aside #2: I hope they locate the cat so the kid who was bitten/scratched by it knows for sure whether he needs to have rabies shots. Then I hope they let the critter be. Kitty was clearly terrified to be in the ballpark.)

  10. Ohhhh, I see you meant "Garza is pitching" when you predicted a lot of home runs.
  11. Based on our experience at the Molitor jersey night last month, I recommend arriving as early as you can. On jersey night, the home plate lines stretched out to Helfaer Field at 5:40, when the gates opened. I saw that via others' social media posts, because we were still headed to the park at that time. We got to Blue Mound/Hawley at 5:55 - which was right in line with our normal arrival time of about an hour before first pitch - but barely moved for the next 20 minutes, landing a spot in the Molitor lot (irony noted) at 6:15. The lines at home plate moved relatively quickly, but were still long to get in. We finally reached a gate at 6:25, and not only were the jerseys all gone, but so was all evidence of a giveaway (boxes broken down and removed). I realize that the backpack is only for ages 21+ and the game is on a weeknight, but there are only 10,000 packs and I think that (plus the extra visitor traffic a Twins game would normally bring) might outweigh the other factors. If you can't be super early, I'd recommend trying a non-home plate entrance, which might have less of a wait (though might also have less giveaway items). I wouldn't bet the farm on still getting a pack at 6:30. Hope that helps.

  16. I'm a solid fan of the Levering/Grindle pairing. I enjoy the conversational groove they've settled into, at least as much as I enjoy the traditional Uecker + sidekick dynamic when Bob is doing games. Ueck is great and has earned all his adoration, but he does dominate the airspace when he's in the booth. There's value to me in both radio duos. I used to think that Uecker + Joe Block was like a great-uncle and his great-nephew (or grand-nephew or whatever the term is); Bob tells stories and does his thing, while Joe enabled it (for lack of a better word). I think Jeff holds his own with Ueck better. I've only heard Lane and Ueck on parts of a few spring training games. My preference for the radio call (either pair) is such that I actually don't catch the FSWI broadcasters very often. I like Matt Lepay, maybe because I'm so used to hearing him on the radio for the Badgers, but his backup role is enough for me.
  17. If I lived in Story Hill and could walk to games, frankly, I'd probably eat at home or elsewhere too. I would want to stay hydrated, though. The thing that turns me off the most is the "I won't get a physical because I might need medication that might interrupt my ballgames" line of thinking. Dude. You go undiagnosed with something, your ballgame watching might be a lot more disrupted than some bathroom breaks. Otherwise, the guy applies his quirkiness to the Brewers. I can think of worse targets, and apart from his ex-wife, are there any victims?
  18. I know they don't play games on paper, but man, I don't like the way this matchup looks on paper. Prove me wrong, Brewers.

  22. The final piece for setting Jeremy right again might be to re-relocate Will Smith. I mean, why couldn't he just live in Milwaukee while he rehabs for SF? (This is mostly intended to be blue)
  23. CUBS BREWERS No lineups in my usual source yet and we need to leave for Milwaukee shortly. Please win, real home team.
