  1. what's the general opinion of Damian Miller playing at 1B last night? Mild surprise (that he was at 1B, not that Prince had a night off), and general relief that he didn't get hurt. Someone here last summer (maybe SoCal?) made a screamingly funny post about Ned's nightmare where both his catchers get hurt and there's no backup. Ned? Ned? Ned? and he wakes up in a cold sweat or something. I believe I saved that text in an email file I have at home, because it entertained me so much. Anyway, I think of that every time Ned does something "outside the box" (at least outside his box) with the catchers. Though I believe Bob and Jim were citing Graffanino as the emergency catcher - which I hadn't realized before, and frankly wouldn't have guessed. Not that that would have helped by the time Prince was in for Damian, as by then Craig was also putting the Counsel in Counselnino.
  2. Well, It's always nice to see the Pirates lose. I could have lived with less Jason Bay action, but at least the scurvy cur Jack Wilson didn't rake. That three-error half-inning was brutal; but frankly, the most irritating play for me was watching Nick Leyva wave around Bill Hall. We could see from the terrace level that that had 'out at home' written all over it. The Brewers were fortunate that the run wasn't needed in the end. I used to hold my breath momentarily whenever a grounder was hit to Rickie at 2B. I pretty much don't have to do that anymore. It's now the same in CF, and I figure that some day I won't have to worry about every ball hit Bill's way. It'll work out.
  3. Maybe it'll help if I'm in the audience (TB 417, say hi). At least there isn't likely to be a five-figure pirate nation in Miller Park tonight. Y'arrr, I curse the scurvy bilge rat pirates.
  4. y'all can scream for Cappy2 all you want, the problem is -- on the whole -- he's no better than Aquino. While he may not be throwing to the backstop much lately, yeah, my confidence in Capellan is not there either. And my confidence in Aquino has definitely taken a hit. Maybe the #41 jersey still has some bad Kolb mojo woven in.
  5. Ned's going to let Aquino "work out" of this jam, effectively blowing the game wide open. As Bob said on the radio the other night, "True dat."
  6. Why am I surprised to see CV in for a second inning? By that I mean, my initial reaction was surprise, but then I realized, he does start. (or can, at least) And before I can hit SEND, Ned makes my post moot. Our Shouse, in the middle of the 7th.
  7. Join Live Chat! ( 26 people chatting) I guess I have no comment on this, but I thought the limit was 25.
  8. You can all thank me for that salami. I called it. This is true. I saw Revenge of Saget's call in the chat room. For those of you who remember the great soft drink chat of early last season, it made a triumphant return during Bill's productive at bat. I'm certain that helped.
  9. Anyone else cringe slightly when hearing Uecker say "Capuano with a 2-hit shutout entering the 6th"? (besides me) On the brighter side, it was downright lovely to see the Brewers get to Victor (even though it could have been more).
  10. Sunday - Angels at Red Sox Rained out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Sorry to hear about that, Jimbo, but good luck on Monday.
  11. AJAY, no one's immune to needing to vent. It doesn't make you immature. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I was fortunate, I guess, to have missed most of the ugliness today. But upon hearing about Graffanino's stellar outing in the field, even I'm taking a peek at that Ryan Braun bandwagon. In the immediate aftermath of a pretty crappy game, it's hard to keep in mind that they did split with STL on the road. That's the brightest side I've got right now.
  12. I noticed that FSN Wisconsin went to Marney Gellner in the studio. She used to work for channel 3 in Madison. I wish she'd replace Ann of the plastic hair and face.
  13. I wonder if these weather issues will improve the chance of the Brewers starting future seasons at home.
  14. No slam on Hall, but I sure am glad to have JJ back at short. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I don't have a rant at the moment, but I can't help but ask: Uecker really said "true dat"?
  16. Way to cut down a baserunner!
  17. The Brewers scored first? Whaaa? If the Brewers can actually notch 2 wins on my birthday I would love them forever. Happy birthday, wisconsinfan...they're halfway there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I really hope the good Dave Bush makes an appearance tonight.
  19. Or maybe I'll park on your lawn and tailgate there. You mean, maybe we'll let you park near our property. No room for tailgating.
  20. Peavey, you'll always have the Internet and us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. So.....I suppose there's only a few of us left here, can I confess something? Ahhh, Parkside...hate to say, but although there may have only been a few people posting at the time of your initial 'pants post', it's in the thread now, which means everyone can see it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Just think of yourself as being part of Brewerfan lore now. I guarantee we've seen weirder things.
  22. If you think that wave stuff was neat, go to a Badger Football game. That'll knock your socks off. Have you gone before, Jamie? And if so, you didn't swing by the hawing house to say hi? I'd be so hurt.
  23. The only problem Wednesday might be winter weather. (Irony apparently intended, at some cosmic level.)
