  1. That's a great picture. A lot of us are lucky that you got Brewers stickers in that package. Thanks for sharing!
  2. There HAD to have been some kind of pre-season agreement to show tonights Bucks game. That appears to be the case.
  3. Viva le Link Report! (and Mass Haas too)
  4. Has Kent been getting booed the last couple games? He was booed somewhat Tuesday night.
  5. I'll give it a try, at least. I did pick up an extra #1 last night, in case someone already needs it. My favorite part of last year's Gamedays was the player profile inside the back cover. Who liked homecoming better than prom? Whose first car was a baby blue AMC Matador? (That'd be Brian Shouse.) Stuff like that. The first '07 Gameday didn't include the profile, and I missed it immediately. I haven't given up on them yet, though.
  6. How dare you dishonor the cream of mushroom soup, the tie the binds green bean casserole w/ tater tots together! You forgot those french fried onion things. And that casserole is gross. I publicly state my hope that over the course of Jeff Suppan's tenure with the Brewers, there is at least some variety in the obligatory soup-can image posts that will accompany the IGT of each of his starts.
  7. Man, some Brewer Fan is just yelling his brains out. Do you think it's a BrewerFan.net regular? Hey, where's Hawing tonight? Ah ha ha hah. It just so happens that it could have been any of four, count 'em, four other BF.net posters I saw at Tuesday's game. In alphabetical order by screen name: brewerjamie15 (Did the noise sound like it came from the loge? Because that's where Jamie was sitting.) Jimbo (and Mrs. Jimbo) Robin19 (nice to finally meet you) And the lurker whom some of us met at the winter meeting. I'm very sorry that I have forgotten your screen name. You know what I thought was cool tonight? (besides the air inside the park, once they turned on the fans full blast and, as far as I could tell, completely turned off the heat) The crowd was not only larger than usual for the 2nd home game, but it was a spirited crowd who clearly cared about the outcome. There was a terrace section who was clapping for Cappy from his first batter of the night. Everyone was rooting for Turnbow in the 8th. Not everyone booed Mench (and certainly not later in the game). The park had a buzz that I've simply never seen in an April non-marquee game. Very cool.
  8. do you think Vargas will be skipped I believe that's the plan.
  9. It's been 15 hours since this thread was created and there are only 15 posts. Come on, people. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. What kind of crowd is expected tonight? Game 2 is our annual opening day! and it's usually in the mid-teens. If tonight or Wednesday isn't the low-water attendance mark of the season, it'll be the night game vs. the Pirates on April 18 (which is also a game we selected, with our free game voucher from the end of last season).
  11. woo-hoo! I just sent my address in a PM. I will still keep my eyes peeled tonight, for any magnets left in odd spots, though most of what's left may be outside my puny 5-3 reach.
  12. now I see why some board members like Hawing and Jimbo don't go to Opening Day... Yeah, that'd be about it. There's a thin line between hilarious and disruptive, and I know where my line is. After reading a few of these posts, part of me is simply hoping the park employees have all of the bodily fluids cleaned up before we get there on Tuesday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Incidentally (and to end this post more positively), I wonder how Cappy and Co. will top today's on-field action. Result-wise, you could hardly ask for a better Opening Day.
  13. I'm sure Monday's attendees will chime in when they can. (And I'll be right behind razzzorsharp when they do!)
  14. Oh crap, the Brewers were on today? Spoken by the poster who was in the chat room at 7:30 AM (at latest!) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  15. May this set the tone for the rest of the season. (And now it's probably just as well Jeff Kent got his HR. Imagine if Ben had had a no-hitter dashed, in the 9th, by Brady freakin' Clark.)
  16. I'm also going to add that every player in today's lineup is due. I'll share that duty with you, as it's been in my signature since the latter part of the '06 season.
  17. Is today's game a must-win? And am I the first to mention "must win" in this thread? I hope so.
  18. Yeah, G-Love won me over that last home game of '05 as well. (Technically, that was win number 80 on the year. The 81st win was on the road, won by the bullpen - I think Julio Santana? - with the no-decision to Doug Davis.) But I already have a Sharpie jersey, which is enough for me.
  19. I suppose no one wants to know that the game time is actually 1:05 CDT (rather than CST). Please, don't throw things at me.
  20. You both must have got there before we did. We arrived at the park about noon and had a short wait to get into the rummage sale area. By then most of the bats were gone. However, I wasn't looking for a bat anyway. That jersey selection was a blast, though.
  21. Page two...about two hours after the thread started. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. I don't know about the rest of you, but this off-season seemed like a pretty long six months. (Just five more posts to page two!)
  23. I have a hunch this will be on page two before midnight tonight. Midnight tonight? Fellow posters, DHonks has issued a challenge. Surely we can get to page two in less than five hours. Spending a few hours at the park today definitely got me in the mood. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. I'm posting this here because it's merchandise-related. I do not have jerseys to sell or trade. So, did any of you who attended the on deck event check out the jerseys for sale in the loge level rummage sale? It was a combination "trip down memory lane (21st century edition)" and, for some names, possibly an attempt at exorcism. Please buy these, so we can be rid of the presence of these ex-players once and for all. Very entertaining overall. They charged $100 for a signed jersey and $75 for unsigned. Here's a sample of the names I specifically remember seeing either on the racks or in the hands of customers. You may laugh, you may cry: Gary Bennett (Before he was a World Series champion! Jeff Bennett Ricky Bottalico Mike Buddie Mike Crudale Kane Davis Ben Diggins Leo Estrella Either Ben or Matt Ford (I don't remember the number on the jersey) Wayne Franklin Gus Gandarillas (whose first name I could not recall until I checked it in the media guide's all-time roster) Gary "G-Love" Glover Jeffrey Hammonds (white or navy, your choice!) Lenny Harris Ben Hendrickson Adrian Hernandez Matt Kinney Dan Kolb Justin Lehr Curtis Leskanic Pedro Liriano Luis Lopez Robert Machado (I assume not Julio, as the jersey was the current style, but I laughed at the thought) Chris Magruder Dave Mlicki Chad Moeller Julio Mosquera Nick Neugebauer Takahito Nomura Dave Pember Tommy and/or Travis Phelps (there were multiple Phelps jerseys; I'm pretty sure one was 41, which would be Tommy, and there may well have been a 50, which would be Travis) Chris Saenz Alex Sanchez Also some coaches/staff: Rich Dauer, Rich Donnelly, Gary Matthews (I think), Butch Wynegar. The only jerseys I remember seeing for current personnel were Mike Maddux and Marcus Hanel. There were yet other names I didn't recognize which weren't in the all-time roster. I might yet check some minor league lists in media guides to see if that triggers my memory further. There were also boxes of signed baseballs. Lots of Overbays (Wasn't an Overbay-signed baseball a promotion for season ticket sales or something?), but also Junior Spivey, Wes Helms, Victor Santos, JDLR, and even a box of Russell Branyans. The Carlos Lee baseballs sold out in the first hour. The guy staffing the baseball table was noticeably impressed when I identified the JDLR autographs. I do enjoy these rummage sales. Incidentally, I didn't get a jersey, though there were some I thought would be excellent bf.net prizes (or booby prizes) - just not for $75 and up. Edited to add a few more names: Matt Childers Trent Durrington (how could I forget the only major leaguer ever named Trent?) Dave Krynzel Todd Ritchie Javier Valentin Based on the media guides I checked, it looks like this jersey sale was a purge of the spring 2003 40-man roster.
  25. Nader Raider Tim is C, to the O, to the R-R-E-C-T. Perhaps the artist in question has trouble thinking of real lyrics, and spelling words is the filler.
