  1. Well, they thought it warranted a 15 minute live presser, plus this video, which was tweeted out in the last hour: Rick Schlesinger says that the improved concessions will show they "cherish" the fans. I know I will be checking in six months to see if I feel cherished.
  2. If you use Twitter, ask him if he'll sign it. He signed mine Friday night; I'd tweeted him to ask soon after his homestand appearance was announced. Genuinely nice guy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you decide to ask, you can drop my name/handle if you want. (hemming_hawing)
  3. What was the deal with that play? From the seats I would have guessed interference from Phillips and third base for Braun, and the booing was because that didn't happen - but I don't know what did happen. Edited to add: We've now been at four of the Brewers' eight triple plays; four of the six that happened in Milwaukee. 1997 vs Toronto, 2009 vs SF, and the two this year. Nothing but luck of the draw.
  4. Frankly, at this point I'm quite comfortable with Jeff Levering becoming the main radio guy whenever that becomes necessary. I've steadily warmed up to the Levering/Lane Grindle pairing on Ueckerless road trips. If Lane doesn't become a long-term part of the radio team, I'd be very open to a Levering/Dillard pairing in the booth. However, even if Tim's future does not lie specifically in radio, he surely has a good thing going in social media, and I for one am looking forward to trying to spot him this homestand, starting tonight.
  5. The Brewers' Twitter account lists Martin Maldonado as a late substitute for Andrew Susac.
  6. The Feldco ads are annoying and I hope no one does business with them until/unless they improve.
  7. The hawing household has a 156-mile round trip to Miller Park, and we can't avoid burning leave time for a weeknight game whether it starts at 6:20, 6:40 or 7:10. So to some extent, whatevs. And 6:40 isn't quite as random as 6:20 (which I realize started as a "WTMJ night," but why did they keep that particular time?). Having said all that, I'd prefer to have fewer different start times to remember. Maybe the 2017 season will help the Brewers decide on a single evening start time...she said hopefully.
  8. With the Cubs' magic number at one, it's hard to imagine getting out of this four-game series without having to watch them celebrate. I guess at least it won't be at Miller Park?
  9. It looks like the Reds strayed from their weekend plan to have Anthony DeSclafani start on the mound tonight. So the new Keyvius Sampson photo above is from his appearance before a golf outing.
  10. You were looking forward to that. It sounds like the confines were not friendly to "actual home team" fans today. Someone on Twitter reported beer vendors selling Old Style. I get that the Brewers can't stop cub fans from buying tickets en (overwhelming) masse, but I don't see the value of that degree of extra catering to them. It makes me less interested in going - and to drive me to that point is pretty significant.
  11. The Brewers got caught with the roof open during a surprise pregame shower once a few years ago. Our loge seats, pretty near the center, were among the targets. Nice night for Hernan so far. Still wishing he'd played 3B last night.
  12. I can't put it any better than this.
  13. Every team wants to get in on Scrabble.
  14. The private high school two blocks from our house is back in session already. To get to our morning bus stop, we wait cross the street at the same intersection as many students. Let's just say the high school boys like their Axe or Axe equivalent.
  15. If you were at the August 14 game and got more player bobbles than manager bobbles, let me know. Our group of six got all manager bobbles, and although we were able to make some swaps with fans at that day's game, we were hoping for one more player bobble. Thanks!
  16. Man. I'm not typically a knee-jerk fan, but had it been up to me last night, Perez would have entered the game after Villar's second error.
  17. 2016: The year someone thought to have Scooter bat cleanup and it wasn't just a one-off.
  18. While I wait mostly patiently for my SO (who gets the emails and so has the survey link) to share the survey with me... Limiting the number of giveaway items could work against out-state fans - get caught in construction or other traffic on the way to Milwaukee and you could be out of luck. While I as an out-state fan realize that the Brewers can't accommodate every instance of the distance gap, keeping all-fan giveaways all-fan seems like a manageable gesture to those of us who drive extra to reach Miller Park. Limiting the giveaway also means you have to think more about how many giveaways are stationed at each entrance. Fans arriving close to game time aren't going to be pleased about either missing out on a SGA or having to walk to the RF corner entrance because that's the only gate where they haven't run out yet. If the unclaimed bobbles or whatever are too many to store and there must be a limit, go for first 30,000. This year that would accommodate almost everyone at most games, and close to 75% at sellouts. As for the content of the all-fan/most-fan giveaways...I like bobbles but I'm not in love with them. I like most of the t-shirt designs, but the sizing is unpredictable and I know fans who are not accommodated by the M/XL options. Other gadgets like the alarm clock can be handy or cool, but I think much would depend on the gadget. I could live with fewer all-fan giveaway days in general, but then again we actually go for the baseball and the extra swag is just gravy.
  19. I was fully on the BRING HIM BACK DAVE bandwagon on the way to Miller Park last night, but I realize what's not practical about it. If there were more home games left in the season, the "selling more tickets" angle would make a little more sense. I do think it's possible that Milwaukee is where his mojo is, but of course that's not quantifiable.
