  1. This game is gonna be ugly. Part of me keeps hoping not, but most of me can't stop agreeing. B19, as previously stated last night, you have my full permission to use the "Stupid (cub player's name)" phrase as needed in the chat room tonight. I was just taking a look at one of my all-time favorite clips: sportsillustrated.cnn.com.../cubs.html It's the best Brewers-Cubs mojo I can think of. Well, catch you guys on the other side.
  2. Dear Brewers: Please please please please please don't suck tonight. I'll be there and would appreciate your disregarding the thousands of goons wearing the wrong team's swag. You're not there for them. Do better, for me. Thank you. Sincerely, hawing (Edited to correct time of the first pitch)
  3. This is just the kind of information I sought. Thanks. And they'd consarn well better have a chatroom - otherwise brewers19 and I will have a void in our respective lives.
  4. So ezboard will be yielding to Yuku. Is a migration date (or even month) known yet? More to the point, would it behoove* us to establish a presence in yuku now? even if we're not into the Packers or NFL enough to justify joining lambeauleap. net? Or would it be just as well to let you Packerheads stumble through first and learn the yuku quirks before brewerfan.net migrates? Oh - and will there be any way to preserve our more classic threads? Like most WOAH SOLVDD content? I realize maybe it's too early to answer some of these questions. * = vocabulary builder!
  5. is it too early to begin worrying about whether we can at least get back to .500 this season and finish at .500? I'm afraid that's where I've been for most of the last month, and especially the last 1 1/2-2 weeks.
  6. Looks like I'll miss most of the game, so I'll just knock on wood whenever I see some. Go Brewers. Surprise me.
  7. Ugh. Wise pitches well, so Shouse comes in to get one guy and can't do it. It's kind of like a bizarre game of whack-a-mole. You think one guy is solved and another problem crops up.
  8. Gotta pitch carefully to Belliard. There's a 1 in 10 chance he'll get a hit. Yeah, I'm late...but that was a terrific barb.
  9. Cinci and Arizona both lose, meaning the Brewers are 4 games back in the wildcard race. Unbelievable. No kidding. That was the first story on WIBA sports this morning. Part of me wants to yield to the tease, and the rest of me is kind of saying, "Helloooooooo, six (four? nine?) game losing streak." Just part of the schizophrenia that comes from following the 2006 Brewers.
  10. From one librarian to another, brarian, I'm hurting for you tonight.
  11. Could be a turnaround moment for the Milwaukee Brewers. I hinted at the same thing in the chat room and was told I was awfully optimistic. Still, I hope Kaukauna and I are right.
  12. Good to see you back, Jamie. Big strom in Central Wisconsin???? It looks more like Upper Western Wisconsin to Southern Minnesota to Northern Iowa. Whatever. Bring it on. We need a change.
  13. Let me just say first: I. Heart. Ben. Sheets. And I missed him these last 11 months (the last time I was present at a start of his was the one when he went down last August). I love to watch him pitch. I love it when he's dealing. I love all of his strikeouts. Heck, I loved his sac bunt. Ahem. OK. Game wasn't nearly as hot as last night was. The 9th inning melt down was creepy, the stadium was insanely quiet. It was almost like a library. Nah, I know what a library sounds like and even that 9th inning wasn't it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But the 9th was right when the sun was hitting our section, and that just added to our on-field discomfort. I think those of us who attended today really caught a break with the cloud cover during the first half of the game. Had it been sunny the whole time, that would have been some bad climate action. Oh, and Mench/Cordero, nice of you to make the Brewers brass look good today. I don't recall the last time I was at a game with a curtain call - that was cool. Ben tipped his hat to the crowd on his way out, too. After reading the thread, I am probably going to quietly chant to myself, "MENCH Mench Mench Mench MENCH Mench Mench Mench" every time I see him up now. (Kind of like how Homer Simpson chants Sports sports sports sports.) I don't care about the wild card race, but the Brewers made me happy today. That's all I want.
  14. OK Brewers, We're dodging storms to get to a hotbox (since I assume the roof will be closed) because we haven't seen you guys in person in almost four weeks. I mean, Bad Chad played the last time we were in the house. Please make it worth our while. Best wishes, and stay healthy! hawing
  15. Dear Brewers: Please don't suck tonight. Your fans have been through so, so much. And Sharpie, it starts with you. Sincerely, hawing.
  16. Todd Finkelmeyer's July 29 "Hit And Run" column in The Capital Times is almost entirely about the Brewers, including a bf.net mention and a quoted post from RobertR. Here's the part with the site mention. (The link, copied below, was posted to their website while I was composing this message.) Yes, the website name is spelled two different ways: And check out Todd's bobblehead jinx theory as well: www.madison.com/tct/sports/finkelmeyer/index.php?ntid=92867&ntpid=2
  17. May as well end the day like that.
  18. I really wish I had my anti-Guardado mojo picture available to post. When we went to the Safeco tour, they were peeling Eddie's big picture off one of the Safeco windows. Parts of Eddie's pic were literally wadded up on the ground.
  19. Wouldn't that be something if Mench came into the game and walked it off in the 9th? Yeah, except another runner would have to get on base first for it to be a walkoff.
  20. Does this mean your 2006 Milwaukee Brewers are now the "horseless carriage"? Sorry, couldn't resist. C'mon, Corey. Use your opportunity.
  21. Give me the bumpersticker. Unless you can prove I wasn't the 25,000,000th. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Oh wow, this just isn't funny anymore. Got that right. What a bilateral crapfest. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm saying that with a combination of awe (not necessarily the good kind) and disgust.
  23. DD is good for a few gems every year. Sharpie's sharpest outings of the year have been when I am in the audience. We were originally supposed to attend tonight. Maybe the baseball gods haven't figured out that my co-worker is using our tickets. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. I figured there was probably something fairly easy I was missing. Thanks.
