  1. Ah, Garbageman, we hardly knew ye. Good luck, Joe.
  2. Ah, Garbageman, we hardly knew ye. Good luck, Joe.
  3. It was the Polish that was show-boating and the Hot Dog that came up from behind for the win... Yes, I forgot to mention that before. You can't really have a more blatantly fixed outcome in the sausage race than that. It looked like the Polish was cruising, then finally remembered, 'doh, the Hot Dog's supposed to win today, isn't it?'. The Italian also took a tumble, which did not look staged. And I agree. Both of Prince's deep flyballs looked more promising than did Corey's (which of course was the one that actually went yard). It was nice to see the fans give Prince an ovation after the second one.
  4. Gosh is it fun to watch DD when he is on.. Yes. Yes, it is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif If Jamie weren't in the midst of his massive feast today, I'm sure he would have noted the quality start. Terrific weather, terrific 4th inning, and pleasantly solid pitching. I'm only sorry I can't be at Doug's next start. Bad Chad drew some boos while the lineup was being announced. I took some pictures in case he's elsewhere by the time we're back at Miller Park. Even in his "starting lineup" videoboard clip, he looks kind of downtrodden.
  5. I know. But the hawing party was unable to attend that game.
  6. Just to muddy the prediction waters further, we're 6-5. The only win we've personally witnessed in the last month was Fanfest. However, we are 0-2 in all-fan bobblehead giveaway games. But those previous bobbles all depicted people - not food characters. So anything could happen. ANYTHING.
  7. Uh, thanks for the warning, wisconsinfan. The only one of those crapfests we have in common was June 20. We're going on Tuesday too. (Go Sharpie! You don't have to have freakishly long legs to be effective!)
  8. In play, run-scoring play. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif We need a emoticon to show "extreme relief." Well I, for one, am glad we saved our season with this win. It would have been horrible to lose and know all hope was over. Touche, Team Canada. Not that it wasn't frustrating, but it's still a marathon and not a sprint.
  9. And to make things worse, Capuano's hiding an injury. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif Is that sarcasm? (Yeah, at this point I'm a little paranoid - though not ready to declare the season over.)
  10. Who'll be up in the Brewers' 9th? I don't see an obvious indicator on Gameday. (Setting aside for the moment the basic irritation that there will be a bottom of the 9th.) Edit: Sorry, I guess I was assuming that the top of the ninth would ever end.
  11. And he'll probably do great in the All-Star game, just like Kolb after he blew one to the Reds just before the game. Yeah, but think of how the rest of that season went for Kolb. Or, substitute "career" for "season."
  12. Now see, this is why I'm wary of most any Brewers nominee for the all-star team. I'd rather go without than have more all-star curses.
  13. Please Derrick, no white knuckles? Too late for hawing. C'mon, guys.
  14. In play, run-scoring play A sight for sore eyes! Though I keep thinking, dang, there's still bullpen time coming up.
  15. Whoa, Dave Bush looks about 15 in that picture. Go home team. We'll be peeking at Gameday while serving the handful of researchers who decided to visit the library on July 3.
  16. Just gotta flush this series from the memory banks and remember that the Twins have been dominating everyone. Not to mention, that one of the Twins' two interleague losses was to the Brewers. (The other was to Houston.) Yes, I'm clutching at straws to find something positive to say. Now I'm done.
  17. Arroyo on Tuesday? Groan. And I don't like the look of that "to be announced" in what would normally be the Davis spot (on the Brewers' probable pitchers page). Well, go Brewers tonight. Don't make me look goofy when I listen to this game whilst waiting for the fireworks.
  18. I've paced so many miles in the concourses of County and Miller that I'd easily qualify for a marathon. Ah, burnieb, you've got a kindred spirit in hawing (when it comes to closers, at least). Reminds me of many walks I've taken around the ballpark (then and now)...Doug Henry, Mike Fetters, Bob Wickman, Luis Vizcaino, Mike DeJean (shaking fist at the sky), Dan Kolb (round one), Dan Kolb (round two). I've no doubt missed some names, but I've made my point. My most recent concourse walk was that night Matt Wise gave up back to back jacks to the Padres. The terrace level guest relations people can tell the game is close or slipping away when they see me take a walk. I can still watch Turnbow, though. Maybe it's his sheer size. Maybe it's the hair.
  19. Cincy somehow won 9-8, this angers me. They scored 4 in the 8th and 5 in the 9th, culminated with a walk-off grand slam off Mr. Bob Wickman. It's not good for the Brewers in the standings, but I'm still snickering a bit, as I was rather anti-Wickman toward the end of his Brewers tenure.
  20. Is Carlos Villanueva still on the team? Last time I checked, he was doing pretty good....why didn't Ned bring him in to relieve GG instead of Wise? Or to relieve Wise? That's one I don't get. I think Carlos V is pencilled in the starting rotation - as an alternative to Helling starting games.
  21. huzzah. Thanks for justifying our frequent gameday peeks at the library. And Jamie, you sure about the QS for GG? He only went 5. A combined-effort QS, if such a stat exists, I could support.
  22. Still a chance for some insurance...according to gameday at least. So if we magically come out of this inning alive, will Turnbow close the game still in the 9th? I sure as heck hope so. Who's left in the bullpen? Edit: So much for the insurance. But I still sure as heck hope to see Turnbow in the 9th.
  23. Our Shouse has the most "good ol boy"-lookin' Gameday photo ever.
  24. Henry Blanco has the most haggard Gameday photo ever. Edit: So, of course, you WALK him. Grr.
  25. Gabe (clap clap clap) Gross (clap clap clap) Edit: well, that worked!
