    I can agree with this. Maybe my memory and perception isn't the same as what reality is, but the 80's game seems like it was a lot more run and gun and fast break. I hated the 90's and early 2000's NBA where it seemed like there was a lot of low 90's and high 80's scores that would win games, with grinding defense and tons of stoppages. We're back to the high scoring NBA, but it's more of a perimeter game now,with almost every team putting a huge emphasis on volume 3's. Heh. Just looked up the 98-99 Bucks, and with a record of 28-22 (strike shortened season) the Bucks averaged 91.7 ppg and allowed 90.0 ppg. oof.

    I think generalizing what the NBA guys do as "jogging up and down the court" is a pretty bad mis-categorization of what's going on. Playing in the paint, fighting for positioning, general jostling and minute to minute body on body, and fighting for boards is pretty draining. Unless you're Tony Snell, standing out on the perimeter, waiting for a wide, wide open 3.....

    I honestly think the Warriors are going to have a hard time getting past Houston right now. We'll see. Let's get out of the East first.... Toronto and a few other teams are still on the radar.

    Last year Card fans thought they traded for the better Marlins corner OFer. LOL Just thought of this too. They thought they got the better deal, giving up less for an equal player. What was debateable then is a laugher now. To be fair, Ozuna was coming off a 6 WAR season. Yelich hadn't hit for this kind of power before, but it was probably at least in the realm of possiblity that he could be a 25 homer guy getting out of Marlins park. I don't think anyone (and I mean ANYONE) predicted he was suddenly going to be Barry Bonds.

    I'm firmly convinced Arcia could go 4 for 5 with 3 dingers and 8 RBI, and people would still talk mad crap about him for making an out and call him names and whatnot. Dude is seriously the BF.net whipping boy.

    There's a lot of "what if?" about us getting Goldschmidt, but were the Brewers EVER in on those talks? Why would the Brewers expend any serious amount of resources to get a first baseman when they have 2 solid 1B already? I know Aguilar is struggling, but the guy is coming off an all-star season, and Thames isn't exactly chopped liver. I just have my doubts that the Brewers ever seriously considered pursuing Goldschmidt.

    This rule is somewhat vague. 6.01 © Catcher Interference (6.08) The batter becomes a runner and is entitled to first base without liability to be put out (provided he advances to and touches first base) when the catcher or any fielder interferes with him. If a play follows the interference, the manager of the offense may advise the plate umpire that he elects to decline the interference penalty and accept the play. Such election shall be made immediately at the end of the play. However, if the batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a base on balls, a hit batsman, or otherwise, and all other runners advance at least one base, the play proceeds without reference to the interference.

    After Arcia's screw up, all is where it should have been. 2 on, nobody out and Carp and Goldschmidt coming up.... 0 runs. That was not expected. Arcia's screw up wasn't an obvious umpire screw up.

    My only question about that would be is Goldschmidt's back foot out of the batter's box? I doubt it, but that's something to look at as well. But yeah, the Brewers got a break there.

    The Brewers offered Jonathan Villar an extension and he turned it down, and while it wasn't a big extension and he wasn't a top 100 prospect like Albies, it's just one of those things. That guaranteed money is money in the bank. There is NO guarantee that Albies will even be in the bigs 9 years from now. He's 21 years old. He could flame out, get hurt, etc, etc, etc. He's (and his agent) are banking against any of those things happening. And yes, free agents aren't banking big after the age of 30, but a lot can change from now and then as well.

    Value is not the same as operating capital. It's not even close. As others have said, value is just an imaginary number that you can throw out there, if you decided to sell. If you have a thing, it's only worth what someone wants to give you for it, if you're even in the market to sell it, which Attanasio is not. It doesn't matter what someone says it's worth. That value doesn't give you operating dollars.

    This thread will be for all first round playoff discussion for the Bucks vs Detroit Pistons. Game 1 is Sunday at 6 pm and we'll update the thread title to reflect game times. If the in-game discussion gets busy and seems to warrant a separate thread for each game, we'll go that route.

    I would happily take 5 months of Keuchel (which is what you're going to get) at about 12-13 mil, but not 20 mil. He can say he's been throwing sim games of 95 pitches every 5 days (and I believe that) but that's still not the same as facing live hitting. I'm sure he's stretched out and ready to go, but he won't be ready to pitch until May if he signed tomorrow.
