Arcia has hit pretty well the last few games and raised his season OPS to .744. Everyone knows you hate the guy, but give him credit where it's due at least.

Eh. Keuchel's looking for multiple years. Maybe 5 years. I want nothing to do with Keuchel on a 5 year deal. There's no indication at this point he's willing to take a one or even two year deal at this point. We've been down this road before, and I'm just not sure I want to the Brewers going 5 years with a 31 year old starter who's already got a declining K rate.

I don't "hate" Schroeder, I think part of what he's doing is playing a role, and part of what he's doing is what he knows, and that's "70's and 80's baseball guy" He says things that aren't always factually and statistically accurate, and he and BA work well together because BA is usually able to subtly and casually correct those things without it coming off as being a jerk to his on-air partner.

That's only because "grumpy old men" aren't included (because they refuse to partake) in market research and thus aren't considered "people" by those sorts of people who make grand comments like the above quote. Despite not partaking in those sorts of surveys/research, grumpy old men do watch baseball though. The problem with Schroeder is a lot of his "Back in my day" stories are pretty wrong. The other day he was talking about how NOWADAYS about 6 innings is all you can expect to get from a starter. Back when I played, pitchers pitched 200 - 250 -300 innings" Right now pitchers in the NL average about 5.5 IP per start, and in 1987, it was about half an inning more. The game hasn't changed in some huge, fundamental way, but he wants to think it has, and in some terrible way because the players are weaker and not able to do the herculean feats that the players of his era were capable of. So.... he comes off as a grumpy old man who doesn't understand how to even use the internet to look up some simple statistics.

If tOPS backs up that most of the runs scored over a season is pretty randomly spread out, then the claimant has to back up the claim that the team not doing the "pouring on" is actually giving some visible, measurable lack of effort to score runs when up early in the game. There's no way to measure this, and no way to dispute it. Run distribution over 162 games is entirely random. Players on a roster get hot at different times. Players hit pitchers (as Ender said) better in the first inning. Players hit pitchers better the third time through (if they get to see a starter a third time, which is rare). If you're up by 2 or 3 runs, you're probably seeing a succession of relievers who are doing everything they can to keep the game close/manageable.

perez is a utility infielder. If he appears on the mound more than 3 times this season, something is wrong. You see Albers getting lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree? Perez isn't a pitcher. He shouldn't be pitching. Especially in a game with the lead. Albers didn't get "lit up like a christmas tree". He gave up a homerun to Hayward. Homeruns happen from time to time.

What an awesome game tonight. Missing Bledsoe and Brogdon. Philly shot over 50% from 3 and got a huge triple double from embiid and the Bucks still win. George Hill was fantastic tonight

I would love for Norris to get signed by the Reds so he can play with Yasiel Puig.

This guy was Matheny's stooge/narc in St. Louis. I'll normally look past character issues in favor of talent to make a team better, but......yeah, no. Norris is a something-something-something that I don't want near a team I root for. Absolutely no.

On a scale of 1 to Jim Gaffigan, how funny does something have to be before it's considered an April Fool's prank? If it's not funny to you, say I wasn't amused, and then move on. This literally happens one day per year. No one person is the Arbiter of what is funny to somebody else. Spending a day arguing over what the narrow definition of an April Fool's Day prank is seems.... something. -

Is that a tougher play based on the cold? I'm not sure since I don't have much cold baseball experience, but the throw from Arcia wasn't that hard Yes. It is a tougher play in the cold. Your body doesn’t move well in it and it’s harder to get a grip on the baseball. Very slick when cold. Ninja'd. You owe me a soda.

As grisly as he's looked at 2nd base, I'm gonna give him a pass on that, with it being 30-some degrees tonight. Gotta be hard to get a good handle on the ball on a quick exchange like that. Is that a tougher play based on the cold? I'm not sure since I don't have much cold baseball experience, but the throw from Arcia wasn't that hard Not a LOT tougher, but yeah. A cold ball will be really slick and harder to get a good grip on, especially if you're doing a quick exchange from glove to throwing hand.
