  1. Let's be fair.....it's the Padres. They clearly are not a good team. I like a starting out the road trip strong and answering the Cardinals. I think we're in the middle of their run, and hopefully the Brewers can weather the storm. Oh, I agree, they absolutely need to win this series. I was just saying, 4BB's against a bad team isn't exactly stellar. It's not a 'bad' start, but Lohse's control was kind of all over the place tonight.
  2. Six Cardinal players just picked up their smartphones to bish about Gomez not playing the game right on Twitter. Kirk Gibson just called the Padres GM and ordered Gomez to be hit in his next at bat.
  3. Yeah....lol. For all the grousing we do about bad baserunning (usually deservedly), why get caught leading off when there's a guy ahead of you on the bases? Padres, your team is bad, and you should feel bad.
  4. My God, for all we know, Jimmy Hoffa could be hiding out in that beard. FOr a short time, I was listening to the radio, and in the 5th, Joe Block said "There's a righthander up in the Padres bullpen, and I can't see the name, but he has a giant beard"
  5. Don't these guys in MLB with these terrible beards have family members or friends or wives that are like "dude, that beard......no. You look awful, and that beard needs to go. You look ridiculous"
  6. I was looking at the box scores/lineups. The Brewers have 7 guys who SLG over .413, the Padres have only 1 guy who's got a SLG% over .390.
  7. That's my issue with it, is that the interpretation of the rule seems to be very arbitrary on a case by case basis. There's no consistency, and we even have the league office saying "yeah, we screwed up" in certain instances.
  8. It's entirely possible by the end of next year or so, we may actually have an *understanding* of how this rule is supposed to work.
  9. Braun is still a relatively productive player. Yes, he's not a superstar, but at this point I don't think we need to start wringing our hands and chewing our nails just yet. He's still able to hit, hit for some power, and provide good middle of the order production. I think we all understand that the thumb issue is what it is. But Braun is, and was going to be underpaid for what he was doing with the bat, even going forward. I don't think this is an issue unless he turns into a sub - .725 OPS guy. We're not there yet, so I think the best thing to do is ride it out and see what the options are with the thumb. He's 30, it's not like he's an older guy with a 'bad' body type like a Mo Vaughn or someone like that.
  10. My suspicion is Rogers will get a long look in Spring Training, but Doug will probably do something similar to what he did this year, and that's spend another year backfilling the position with veteran garbage on a one year deal. I know, I know, Lyle has a .330 something batting average in the 17 at bats he's had with men in scoring position, and that's great, but that's analytical data, not predictive.
  11. I'm guessing we have a few posters on Charter internet? Anyways, a big 2 out hit from Davis. We're getting to Volquez, it's just now showing up much on the scoreboard yet.
  12. I realize that he's a pitcher, and not much is expected of him at the plate, but Peralta just swung at three straight pitches that didn't even come close to making it to the plate. 57 foot curveballs and he couldn't resist on any of them.
  13. In the 2011 NLCS, Cardinals starters pitched more than 5 innings zero times. Tony (for as hated as he is), NEVER hesitated to pull his starter the very second he showed any signs of losing control or ability to get outs in the playoffs.
  14. That '82 team was STUPID powerful. 891 runs scored. 75 more runs than the 2nd best team in the league, and 165 more than league average.
  15. Luc doesn't have a whole lot of stretch over there, heh.
