  1. I think if Marco gives up one more hit on an 0-2 count, Schroeder is going to go down onto the field and just throw some MMA style ground and pound on him, right on the mound.
  2. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=braunry02&year=2014&t=b At the bottom of the pitch/count section, there's stats for batter ahead, pitcher ahead, or even count when the ball is put in play. Thank you! Wow, his 0-2, 1-2 and 2-2 counts are particularly bad this year. His 0-2 hitting was never good (well, 2012 it was .204), but it looks like 1-2 (.240-.250 and 2-2 (.260-.280) were a lot better the past two years than in 2014 (0-2: .087, 1-2: .186, 2-2: .136.) Even full-count he's only .167. Gotta believe he'll start turning some of those numbers around. I hope. I think you'll find that even elite hitters are going to show pretty crummy numbers when they're hitting from behind in the count. What he needs to do (and you hit the nail on the head) is get back to being more patient, swinging at balls in the hitting zone, and getting ahead in the count.
  3. Michael Brantley leads the Indians in homers and RBI's, and sports an OPS well north of .900. :D

  5. Great at bat by Gomez, and GREAT swing on 2 strikes to just get that base hit there.
  6. To me, the big flaw is that he has exactly 4 hits vs LHP. His numbers wouldn't be nearly as good if he played every day. Not saying he's not valuable......just that his numbers look better than they should because he's shielded somewhat from his weakness. RoCo, do you know how many ABs he has had against LHP? Just curious and to lazy to go look it up. 29 at bats. 31 plate appearances. .339 OPS !!! vs. lefties. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=gennesc01&year=2014&t=b
  7. Davis has actually surpassed Braun in OPS on the season now. Didn't think that would happen.

  9. WHen I was in the car a little while ago, after the first inning (3 to 2), I said to my wife "I have a feeling this game is going to end up like 14 - 12". I may have been too conservative.
  10. How many of those outs, I wonder were "sure" outs, and how many of the extra bases did they take were pretty sure bets to be an extra base? I have readily admitted that the eye test often doesn't stand up to stats, but the stats for baserunning also don't measure egregious blunders. They just measure extra bases, and outs.
  11. I don't know about Estrada, but I don't want him to pitch tomorrow.
  12. Why are managers NOT allowed to "challenge" after the 7th, but they can "ask the umpires to take a look at something" This is so dumb.
  13. Alright, another 7 inning outing from Yo. Good deal. Like to get another run or two since we're going to have to face Goldschmidt one more time.
  14. I'm sure the stats say otherwise, but according to the eye test, this whole team sucks at base running.
  15. This isn't 'singlehandedly'. The offense failed to score. The defense gave up an unearned run. Kintzler sucked, but to say he 'single handedly' cost them the game is false. Thanks captain cliff notes. Who got the loss? You said this loss is 'Single Handedly" on Kintzler. I'm pointing out the multiple reason why that's not true. If we're still measuring performance based on pitchers W/L records, I guess it's 1970.
