  1. People are looking for things with Braun that just aren't there. It's June 7th. Elite hitters have rough 7 game stretches over the courses of every season. The other day someone referred to him as a 'high priced decoy'. A .900 OPS is not a decoy.
  2. Braun had 2 multi-hit games, and 2 0-fers. You can look at game logs and see what players have actually done. Before today he was hitting .280 and slugging .440 in the month.
  3. Heck, even saying Francisco had/has 'substantially' more upside than Overbay was egregious on my part, but my point still stands. :P But you're right, DM knee-jerks to a lot of things. I'll gladly take Juan-Fran and his D (and that OPS) over Lyle and his .600-ish OPS right now.
  4. It's not like Francisco hasn't hit for power before though. He had 18 homers in less than 400 PA's just last year. Even if he put up a sub .800 OPS, he could have been counted on to provide power and take some walks, if nothing else. Overbay is doing virtually nothing. I think, for like the 37th time, it's not "We want Juan Francisco" (in a vacuum), it was "keeping Lyle Overbay over the younger guy with substantially more upside was a bonehead move".
  5. That ball by Gomez was absolutely smoked. That didn't get more than 35 feet off the ground.
  6. Whatever ju-ju Yo had going in the early going is just not working lately. 3 or more ER allowed in each of his last 7 starts.
  7. I didn't really say anything about Morris. I don't think he's doing anything to prove he's a long term answer. Secondly, OBP should be an objective for every batter in the lineup, regardless of what their perceived 'role' is. A .280 OBP is poor, and if you can do something to improve that, you should.
  8. Butler is terrible terrible terrible defensively, costs more than Overbay and Reynolds combined, and is sporting a .609 OPS this year.
  9. Reynolds may be on pace for 30+ homers, but he's also getting OBP at well below a .300 clip. 21 of his 25 RBI have come via the homerun, so when he isn't hitting homeruns, he is, by and large, virtually useless. His OPS is actually .020 points lower than our slap hitting 2nd baseman, one Scooter Gennett.
  10. I know it's the Scrubs, but great game by Lohse. No walks, 3 hits. Barely reached 90 pitches.
  11. Lohse is at 83 pitches. I can't see a situation where Ron doesn't let him go out and get that last inning, unless there's some guy that 'needs some work'.
  12. Good, need to zip up the Scooter haters for awhile. I don't think there's a lot of scooter 'haters', just guys that know he's about a .700 OPS guy who's OPS depends very heavily on his BA. Scooter is a nice guy to have, I like him, and hope he does well while we have him for cheap. I just don't think he's the world beater that a very vocal few thought he would be when he put up monster numbers at the end of 2013.
  13. Gennett's OPS has jumped from .691 to .744 in this game (so far)
  14. We just had a pretty good storm pass through Rock County, so that's heading that way.
  15. Lucroy is not 'fast', but he's certainly not slow enough that I'd consider him a base clogger, and his OBP% is far more important than how fast he is.
  16. LOL...his first ML hit came in his 2nd AB...a smash pulled to the RF stands. It got out quick. Where will Jon Jay end up? You guys need a CFer? I think we have CF covered http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/host.madison.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/a/aa/aaaef38a-ff2d-539a-a558-9350d5127177/534a1260e2c28.preview-620.jpg
  17. If he stays in the 2 spot in the lineup, I think 83 RBI in just over 100 games (especially with Braunie's injuries this year) is going to be a tall task. Not out of range, but would be a mean feat, for sure. Brewers are talking about hitting the pitcher 8th which might help Braun's RBI numbers if he stays at #2. Hitting the pitcher 8th is absolutely stupid. Also, the 8th hitter is usually someone like Overbay, so....... I don't know how much that would actually help Braun.
