  1. Honestly that's one of Jomboy's best breakdowns ever. It's pretty cool to see the whole "game within the game" stuff like this.
  2. I'm suggesting a manager that's been as good as Counsell has, for multiple years, making it seem difficult to find a way to use Hiura effectively, when the data shows exactly how he can be used effectively is certainly frustrating, if nothing else.
  3. Also, it's not a "tough fit", when you have a DH (McCutchen) who can't hit righties, and Hiura can hit righties just fine. Follow the data and you'll come to a favorable conclusion CC.
  4. So he's aware that Hiura can't hit lefties, but continues to have him hit against lefties, despite the wealth of data they have that says ...... he can't hit lefties. Just keep doing the same thing over and over, and expect different results. Sigh......
  5. Aside from Yelich, these guys are all pretty capable offensive performers. I'll let everyone decide what their own definition of "marginal" is, but if you're carrying an OPS+ over 100, you're starting caliber. Adames, Renfroe, Urias, and Narvaez are all over 100 OPS+, and will help the offense quite a bit by simply replacing the guys that have taken their places.
  6. The only reason I can think of why they haven't brought up Turang is that they don't want to start his clock? I don't know. They might not want to start his service time if he's not going to play at least the majority of his time while he's in the bigs. If Adames and Urias are both on the roster, Turang isn't going to play a whole lot, and I understand that. But still, at times you might wish that those kinds of decisions were more tilted in favor of what's best for the team in a "go for it" season.
  7. I still like Yelich's ability to draw walks enough that I'd rather have him playing over ..... well whatever other options we have.
  8. Doesn't help that Adames and Urias are both out. Like I said, if Reyes was up, and just playing once a week, PH'ing and coming in as a defensive sub or something, I have no problem with a guy like Reyes. Just don't want him starting 3-4 days a week.
  9. A guy like Reyes is ok to have to fill in for 10 days or a few weeks as a backup utility guy. He can slap .250 or so and play multiple positions, and pop a double here or there. It's when you have to start using guys like Reyes every day that things get pretty sketch.
  10. Yeah, we're playing without Renfroe, Adames, Narvaez, Urias, and Yelich. What's happening today is pretty predictable.
  11. Yankee stadium has a short porch and wind effects. Wind doesn't play much of a role in Miller Park with the roof closed.
  12. I get all the batted ball data, but calling a homerun a popup is silly. If you hit a homerun, you hit a ball pretty well. I think people are taking this data to the extreme at certain points and trying to use it to make it say what they want it to say.
  13. If McCutchen hits a 3 run homer here I'll take back some of the bad things I've ever said about him.
  14. Hey. Some of us old farts can still smoke the ball in the bar leagues.
  15. here's a quick and friendly reminder for everyone. game threads are getting pretty chirpy lately. If you disagree with someone's hot take, point out why. don't get salty that someone disagrees with your take or opinion. let's not be telling people to calm down or walk away from their keyboards. we're all baseball fans, and (hopefully) all brewer fans. let's keep the tone civil here.
  16. At 6-5 it's a successful road trip, but still, letting two games in a row get away like that feels like a let down. Get home, hopefully get some guys healthy soon, and get it turned back around.
  17. If it's a save situation, sure. Hader hasn't been used a single time this season in a non-save situation.
  18. I would guess that he was a little cringey seeing another key player going hard into a wall when they're ready down Adames and Renfroe. I wouldn't read much more into it than that.
  19. 6-3 on the road trip when we were supposed to start playing down to our level.
  20. At this point, he at least has to be in the conversation for Cy Young, I would think.
