You've got your mind made up based on what you see in half a game. McCord was a 5 star recruit, and has put up monster numbers. He's got good receivers, no doubt about it. you still have to deliver the ball.
Defense has played brilliant so far, and for all that, Badgers are only down 3. Offense has been butt. Hopefully they can do a little something with the ball this quarter.
Brutally predictable script.
"line up like we're going for it"
" go hut hut hut right til 0 on the playclock"
"don't actually try to get a first down"
"Kick a field goal"
"Get zero points"
For fans that want coaches to show "fire" and whatnot... it just doesn't mean much. I don't give a fart in the breeze if the coach throws tantrums or yells a lot. I want the coach to be good at X's and O's, and know waht the hell they're doing. That's all.
Dude has been in the system four years, and looks like he has no idea what he's doing. Call it coaching, call it decision making, call it what you want. This is brutal to watch. Ugly, ugly, ugly-ass football.
I don't think they're getting worse, it's just the level of competition is showing. They went into halftime against GA Southern and Buffalo struggling to put points on the board. They're just not good. Struggling to adapt to new schemes and a lot of the players that were (and are still) here were recruited to fit the previous schemes. It's gonna be a slow process until Fickell gets his guys in here. I don't think the University expected a one-year turnaround. At least I hope not.
Obviously the results aren't there right now. Nobody would even argue otherwise. That being said, the school isn't even going to consider buying him out yet when they still owe Chryst a boatload of money. He's going to get a few years to show that he can make his system and style work here.
