  1. That's an incomplete pass.
  2. The entire middle of this defense should just be referred to as The Soft Underbelly.
  3. Paying King any amount of money at all, and justifiying it by saying he's a "placeholder" for Stokes is a brutal, awful misallocation of resources for a team that was already tight under the cap.
  4. Bullpen has been a strength most of the season. Box was mortal for a few days. I ain't gonna sweat it.
  5. The Cy Young is given to the "best" pitcher. I guess that's a pretty subjective. If we just wanna give it to the guy with the best xfip or xwar, then why have voters? ERA tells you what happened. fip or xfip or ERA+ tells you how good the guy pitched. Those two things can, and often are, mutually exclusive. No specific criteria is placed upon the voters to decide what stats to use. A better ERA doesn't mean a guy is a better pitcher, but in a results oriented industry, I wouldn't be upset that voters who are chosen to vote on an award recipient use result-based statistics to distribute the award. I hope Burnes wins. I think he deserves to win. I'm not gonna be mad if he doesn't.
  6. Cain and Garcia are hurt.....jbj is gonna play.
  7. Aug 10th scary and intimidating Patrick Wisdom stare down: Since then, the Brewers have outscored the Cubs 51 - 17 el. oh. el.
  8. FanGraphs has 41 catchers with at least 1,000 PAs since Manny's first season with the Brewers in 2016. Pina's played about as often as top backup (1187 PAs, 35th) but has performed around a league average starter (6.5 WAR, 17th) over that stretch. Pineapple Power, indeed. Manny's defense was and is good enough that even during his pretty bad first half this year, he wasn't really hurting the team all that bad and I'm happy they gave him a chance to pull out of it and turn his season around.
  9. I know that logically the reason we have better odds than the Dodgers is because they are baking in the potentiality of them having to overcome a one game playoff, but I don't care. That's still kind of a strange feeling for us to be the odds-on "favorite", as it were, even if it's only for this moment in time.
  10. I feel like even though this'll be four years in a row, making the playoffs for the Milwaukee Brewers is still kind of a big deal, so ...... I guess we'll see?
  11. Cardinals are in a 3 way fight for a WC spot. They're gonna scrap tooth and nail for every win they can.
  12. Nice piece of hitting by Reyes there. Doesn't try to lift the ball, just slaps it right down the line.
  13. Bill Bergen had a .319 OPS. OPS. ANd had a 1 OPS + For all the ineptitude JBJ has put together at the plate, he's still sporting a relatively robust 35 OPS +
  14. I want someone to hit a homer, throw the bat like 150 feet, do a spin move, and a fake fadeaway jumper while staring at the Cubs dugout.
  15. Pablo hasn't been great this year, but he hasn't exactly been awful either. He plays good D, plays all around the diamond, and takes a walk now and then.
  16. Definitely felt like there was some indication they were not completely comfortable with men on 2nd and felt like signs were being highjacked, and the batters were giving some clear tells that they knew what was coming. In that last at-bat, Ortega didn't so much as flinch at that REALLY good 1-2 curveball. Now, to be super super clear, I'm not calling a man on 2nd stealing signs cheating, but it does make a pitcher and catcher's job tougher (which it should!), and it seemed to me at least that Pina and Burnes were fighting it tonight.
