  1. I'm starting up a Retro Baseball League with the 1947 Season. We will use the PC Replay Baseball game. Link to the game website : http://www.replaybb.com/PCBBPages/PCBBProducts.htm I have one opening left. That is Ralph Kiner and his Pittsburgh Pirates. Hoping to find a knowledgeable baseball man or woman to take them over. Be the GM, draft for them and make trades. Hopefully buy the game eventually. You don't necessarily HAVE to buy the game at the start. My Excel Spreadsheets should be all you need to be a GM, draft and trade. Link to my post over on the Delphi Forum : https://forums.delphiforums.com/pcreplay/messages/?msg=6111.1 Hope to find someone here, or maybe you know of someone who would enjoy reliving the "Golden Era" of baseball. - Jeffrey
  2. Sorry, moving this to other board. Just needed to scroll down a bit more to find the "Other" section. -Jeffrey
  3. I'm sure he realized that. Who wouldn't. But in the end, he made a financial business decision. It's simply employment to all of them. Take emotion out and insert logic. This pretty much encompasses why I have become sick of pro sports. The salaries are outrageous for all of them. Players, managers, all of them. Especially in baseball where you have the huge salary disparity between large market and small market. Someday it has to all come crashing down.
  4. Why? They obviously have money to burn. Let’s say something happens and the Cubs have to eat 3 years of his contract. Will that keep them from signing a FA or hiring their next manager at $8M again, or even $10M to get, let’s say, Bruce Bochy (no idea if he would be available, just using as example). No. Course not.
  5. Seems pretty simple to me. Follow the money. Remove feelings from the equation. It’s just a job. Pure business decision. Nothing more. I would have done the same.
  6. Really? But 100+ year old Wrigley Field, that actually had concrete falling off, where they had to put up nets so it didn't fall on the fans, is just fine now? Been awhile since I've been in Chicago. Are they still peeing in troughs down there? But AmFam field needs bathroom upgrades?
  7. Wow. If you didn't catch the game last Friday night, you missed a really good college hoops game. Panthers won't be back in town for three weeks now. Then we have four straight home games to close out the regular season. So you still have a few games to come out and see the best point guard in the state and one of the best in the country, live and in person. Including a HUGE game Friday, February 26th against conference leading Valpo.
  8. Tiby will be nearly impossible to replace. He will end up as one of our top 2 or 3 PF ever, if not #1. The Prahl twins will get more time of course. They just offered Norbertas Giga. A JUCO 7-footer from Lithuania. http://www.mrt.com/sports/article_dc702112-b65f-11e5-8d1c-c7393497b4e2.html And I know we have a couple other offers out to JUCO big men.
  9. Me again. The other two D1 college basketball teams go at it tonight at the Arena. Green Bay at Milwaukee 7pm
  10. Forgot to mention it's also $5 ticket and $1 hot dog night tonight. So yeah, a great deal if you like college hoops.
  11. Wright State is turning out to be a lot better than anyone thought. They just beat Valpo a couple weeks ago. So tonight again, if you're not doing anything ... Two of the best point guards in nation are going head-to-head tonight at the Arena. (If we had a local paper that was worth a damn, you might have known this already.) Milwaukee's Jordan Johnson vs Oakland's Kahlil Felder. They sit #1 and #2 in the nation in assists. Felder is also a big time scorer. Jordy scores when his team needs him to. Oakland will try to get the Panthers to run up and down the court. Panthers can run, but not like Oakland and will try to slow the Grizzlies down a little. Should be a great match-up 8pm tonight. If you can't make it down, it's also on Channel 24.
  12. if the brewers left..... The only division 1 college baseball team in the state would get a major stadium upgrade. What else would it be used for? A minor league team?
  13. Or in a couple hours. Come down to the Arena. Conference play starts today at 3pm against Wright State.
  14. I don't know if it's just me getting older or what, but it seems to me, people's driving is just getting worse and worse. Going to and coming back from work, a 25 minute drive each way, I see: - 10+ MPH over the speed limit, probably closer to 15+ over. - ignoring the "right turn only" lane - passing in that far right lane only to go over 1, 2, 3 lanes to take a left turn. - ignoring the school zone speed limit when you can clearly see plenty of children in the area actually going to school - excessive tailgating. I do drive 5 over the speed limit in the middle or right lane. If that's not fast enough for you, then get over in the left lane. That's what it's for. I see these things definitely every week, and most of the time every day. And that's just on city streets. I thankfully don't have to get on the freeway at all. I honestly don't think the police bother to even look for this stuff anymore. On the freeway I see about the same thing. Who knows what a solid white line on the freeway means? I'm going to guess maybe 10% of drivers know the answer. How about merging on the freeway? You see a car coming up the ramp, you are already on the freeway. What do you do? I have actually been in a car with someone who said, "why should I slow down, I'm already on the freeway. They should be the one to slow down and get behind me." That's about enough of my rant for the day. Feel better now. Thanks for reading.
  15. Com'on down to the Arena. South Dakota at Milwaukee Panthers Should be a good game. South Dakota (6-4) has already beaten Minnesota this year. Milwaukee (8-3), well, you know who we just beat last week. Also came within 8 points at Notre Dame earlier this year. If you missed the Sweet 16 team, come out and watch this version. Best we've had since those years. Just $10 gets you in the door. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/panthers/uw-milwaukee-panthers-are-a-team-worth-watching-b99633932z1-362116691.html Thanks for your time.
  16. Completely agree. They are all overpaid, from the very top of the list all the way down to the very bottom. It's gotten completely out of hand. I'm a bit ahead of you thou. Just wish I would have woken up sooner. I started not caring about MLB the year Prince left and Pujols signed that ridiculous contract. Haven't watched a Brewer game since, that I didn't get free tickets to attend. (I only come to this MB for entertainment. Since It's one of the few that I can see at work over my lunch hour.) NBA lost me long before that. I watch Packer games but not with anything close to the enthusiasm that I did 15 or 20 years ago. Stopped playing fantasy football a long time ago, so I don't feel I "have to watch" any of the other games. Usually DVR the Packer game, then watch most of it on FF. They win, good for them. They lose, so what. Either way, doesn't change my life. By the way, if you still need a baseball fix, try the Lakeshore Chinooks. Tickets are less than $10.
  17. Anyone watch Archer? Need to watch it late night on the FX channels thou, not the censored Comedy Central episodes. Note: If you are overly "politically correct" sensitive, or opposed to fowl language, this is not a show for you. If those things don't bother you, you will love this show. Final Note: Do not watch if your kids are within listening distance of the TV. Even thou it's animated, it is definitely an adult, rated R, show.
  18. Well, it does sound reasonable to most of us, doesn't it. But sure doesn't seem the NCAA thinks the same way. Also, watch how the brackets unfold. I think they also try to put those Mid-Major's up against each other. Don't have any old brackets in front of me, but every year I have 3 or 4 "little guys" I want to root for, but they end up potentially playing each other in the opening weekend, if not right away on Thursday/Friday.
  19. I agree with you, but sadly the NCAA is all about the money. Those other "big school" teams will draw more "fans" in the stadium and ratings on TV, just based on their name alone. Those of us who like to see the "little guy" in there, don't matter to the $$$N$C$A$A$$$.
  20. The Horizon League gives their top two teams a double bye into the Semi-Finals, and the top team hosts those final three games. The Mid-Major and lower conferences should all adopt this method. As it's in their best interest to get their best team in the big tourney. If you can't get it done for two games, with the extra days off and home court advantage, while other teams would have to win at least three games, usually four, with the final two on the road, you don't deserve it. Don't care if you did win the regular season by 10 games. Wait, check that, the top team also hosts the quarterfinals, even thou they aren't playing in either game. So any other team would have to win three possibly four road games to win the conference tourney. While the top team gets to sleep in their own bed the entire time. Aside from not having a conference tourney and sending your regular season champ to the dance, like the Ivy League does, don't know how anyone could come up with a better system than the Horizon League.
  21. I think the only network show I watch is Elementary and the new Nova show. Well besides Simpsons and Bob's Burgers. For sit-coms you'll need to look around the dial for these: - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, one of the cable FOX channels. Not a show for everyone thou. You need to be a little warped. - Portlandia on IFC is also great. Those are about the only sit-coms I watch anymore for various reasons. Non-sitcom, pretty much anything that AMC does. Check out their new one, Halt and Catch Fire. BBCA is also putting out some decent shows. Doctor Who of course, but they also have a few others that are worth the time. Orphan Black is excellent! One of the best shows currently in production. For other Sci-fi, try Continuum. Current episodes wouldn't make much sense thou. Probably have to watch the first few seasons instead of jumping in now.
  22. 78-84 Finish behind Cards, Pirates, and Reds. Not necessarily in that order.
  23. Found this little blub online. To even compare Bart Starr to Prince Fielder is an unsult to Bart Starr. Question for Doug, How long did it take to find a replacement for Brett Favre?
  24. Can someone explain why the Brewers would want Ike Davis? I did a very small amount of research. I typed "What is the love for Ike Davis" into google and found this: http://metsblog.com/qa/email-qa-why-is-ike-davis-being-run-out-of-town/ Looking at his stats, he just looks like a younger, probably more expensive version of Mark Reynolds. Lots of K's, no glove, except without as many HRs.
  25. Chinooks fan!!!??? Heretic!!! Heathen!!! Sincerely, A Bullfrog fan. I'm just picking the closest one to me. I live in West Allis. But seriously I may just do that, looking at those ticket prices. $12 to sit in what would be $90? field level diamond box at Miller Park. $9 to sit in $50-$60? field level box seats at Miller Park. Or $6 to bring your own lawn chair and sit in the grass beyond the OF fence. Not a bad deal if you just want to watch a little baseball.
