  1. Perfect example of what is currently wrong with MLB and professional sports overall. I think it's time to become a Lakeshore Chinooks/Northwoods League fan.
  2. Since he's probably never going to be a guy who takes a lot of walks and has a +350 OBP, I would bat him 6th. Let him swing away. Also then if you do get some hits out of 7-8-9, he's got plenty of speed to take an extra base and maybe steal a run.
  3. No Kohl doesn't have kids. He ... well ... ummm ... let's just say he just doesn't have any kids. To be honest, I haven't watched NBA basketball in at least 5 years. Wouldn't bother me if they left. I think a new stadium, is going to be a very hard sell to the public. Given the current condition of people's personal finances, I just don't think people are going to vote for this.
  4. I don't know. I have to think there must be a breaking point somewhere/someday. I used to like baseball, but the salaries given out the past few years have turned me off. I watched probably only 3 games last year, and that's because I went to the game with some free tickets. I still follow sites like this, but don't watch even the daily highlights anymore. Cable TV is nearing a tipping point with all the material that is available online or various Netflix-type services. Their customers are on the decline. Ticket prices are already starting to price out the "average family of four", unless you want to sit way up there. Yes, they still have promotions and kids days that can bring that cost down. I don't know, I think a combination of those three things, people like me, cable TV decline, and expensive ticket prices, will all come to a head one day and they'll be forced to make some big salary changes in order for the game to survive. At least I hope so, because it's already insane what these players make.
  5. I don't think he left New Hampshire with the intent on killing Jessie. He probably assumed Jessie was already dead. I think he only decided on killing him once he heard from Badger and Skinny Pete that "someone" was still cooking his product/formula. I think that's when Jessie got added to the list. Assuming Jessie was probably cooking for them to save his own life. Not knowing at that point yet, Jessie was being tortured into making the blue.
  6. My thoughts are pretty much the same I had for the entire series. Extremely well done, excellent acting, excellent writing, excellent camera work. The entire series was/is a gem. Althou the $200 Blue-Ray box set is a bit much for me. "I think they could have cut to black after his hand slid off the blood smeared chrome." I think the wide angle shot from above with the police running around a dead Walt, was a prefect ending. Even thou I was rooting for Walt right up to the end. I liked how he saved Jessie in the end. Went there with the intention of killing him for helping the Nazi's, but when he saw Jessie was a prisoner because of what Walt did to him, he changed his mind. He still loved Jessie as a son right up to the end, even thou Jessie hated him.
  7. I only glanced thru so I don't know if someone already said this. Hold him/her as much as you possibly can. Don't just let them sit in those baby chairs, or whatever they call those things, while you sit next to them feeding them, or you watching TV, or whatever. Bonding!!
  8. I can't help you Bucky, but I understand you. I feel the same way, except about baseball in general for some reason. Right now I'd much rather watch the NHL playoffs than Brewer baseball. We'll see what happens once that's over. Or I'd rather play league games for my APBA Retro League. (We're currently in the 1952 season.)
  9. I don't care of they have it or not. Don't care what they use it for or what not to use it for. But if they do have it, do it right, and follow the NHL method, not the NFL. NHL has a room in Toronto where they are watching every game. By the time the ref makes the phone call, the replay officials usually already have an answer for him. Granted, it's easier for the NHL as they are only reviewing goals. But still, a one room controlled setup, with several high def TV's, compared to 30 or 32 individual setups of varying degrees of quality and privacy. The NHL does it right.
  10. Ha, at this time of year, in Pittsburgh? Never been there myself, but I'm guessing a big "no", on that one. Heck I could go the Friday night Brewer game for free, but I'm saying home to watch the Pens. GO PENGUINS !!! 15 more !! (Pens fan since the late 80s. Steelers since the late 70s.)
  11. Just so he doesn't shoot Gumby. I like that big green character.
  12. I agree with RockCoCougars. Wasn't going to post, but couldn't leave you hanging out there by yourself man. In addition to what he said ... You do something that only 13 others have ever done. That includes names like Williams, Mantle, Gehrig, Cobb, Hornsby, Foxx, Yastrzemski, Robinson. 11 of the 13 are in the Hall of Fame. You win the MVP. Yes, I do understand WAR and whatever new advanced stat calculation you want to throw out there. I don't care about them in this case. Besides, Cabrera wasn't that bad on defense. He only had 13 errors and was 2nd in the league in DP's turned by 3B. At a position he wasn't playing last year ... "but, but, his range factor" ... Yeah, again, don't care about that in this case. Trout's consolation prize is winning the ROY award, by a wide margin.
  13. Yep, Hodges, Furillo, Reese, Gilliam, Padres, Erskine ... they are all on there. Hell, even Don Zimmer. There are at least 20, probably around 25 names on it. I'll have to look again, but believe it has Walter Alston as well. I don't know if I'd actually take it to a dealer to get an "professional" value for it. Was just looking for a ball park estimate.
  14. Yes, autographed. $1,500 to $2,000 ??? No way. Really?? I was thinking maybe a couple hundred. Wow. Still would never think of selling.
  15. I have on separate 1957 game programs: 1957 Milwaukee Braves - Fair condition. 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers - Fair condition. All the big names are on there. Aaron, Mathews, Spahn, Burdette, Koufax, Drysdale, Snider, Campy, etc... Wouldn't sell either of them as they are family treasures. My Dad got them as a boy after a game. I guess all the players went to a bar or restaurant after the game. Just wondering if anyone could even make a guess.
  16. I doubt it. The brewers were pretty enamored with McGehee. Well, we can't really know that thou. Had Gamel "figured it out" sooner, maybe the Brewers don't pick up McGehee off the Cubs scrap heap.
  17. Coming out of semi-retirement from the board to post this about Mat. I am really warming up to Gamel. I thought he was stubborn and was going to be one of those AAAA players. He's changed my mind. Not even looking at his stats, I like the way he handles himself on the field. Runs the bases very well and has gotten some big hits. Read that article on him in the little game day program they give out at the park. A few things stood out to me. Went something like, he never thought much about the weight room, but now he see's the benefits. I think he also mentioned how he always did things his way, but he's changed now and he sees this as his big opportunity. Or something to that effect. It's too bad for him that he didn't realize that stuff sooner. He might have been in the show the last few years playing 3B for the Crew. P.S. Anyone here play OOTP13? I'm making this trade. Ramirez to Detroit to get Prince back, then moving Gamel to 3B.
  18. I never understood why this was such a big deal to some. Lucroy can't catch every game. Roenicke is a manager that likes his reserves to know a few days in advance when they are starting. So you pair your backup catcher with one of your starters. That may mean a few times each year Kottaras starts against a LHP, not a big deal to me.
  19. Been only following along slightly from the beginning of the story. Don't watch ESPN. Don't really follow baseball while the college basketball season is going on. My only "news" on the topic comes from reading posts here with people linking to articles and whatnot. I don't believe Braun did anything wrong on purpose. I think it's more likely the test was messed up or his sample was tampered with. I look at "did his body change like Bonds or Sosa?" and "has his stats changed at all?". The answer to both of those questions is "No". All this has done is get me closer and closer every day to dropping MLB completely from my sports watching time. If they do bring up a lawsuit against the Braun decision, that might just be it for me and current MLB. I'll still have my Replay, APBA, and OOTP computer baseball games to relive the good ol' days.
  20. I like college hoops over everything else, so the next couple months can't go slow enough for me.
  21. I strongly disagree, but McGehee had a positive WAR last year so I'd actually take it~. He kind of lucked into that WAR with what was probably a flukey defensive performance but I'd still take it! Fine. You have your opinion, I have mine.
  22. I think Gamel will be marginally better than the 2011 version of McGehee.
  23. I can do without the comments, but as far as the rankings go, It's about where I think the Crew is this year. Maybe 3 spots higher.
  24. I felt he took too much criticism last year. Wasn't his fault he had to be used in the 8th inning setup role a lot early in the season because of injuries to other guys in the pen. Take a look at his game log. Sure he had a few blow up games, but much more often than not, he did a good job. (But I don't want to turn this into a Kam Loe discussion.)
  25. Record: 84-78 3rd in the Central No playoffs
