  1. His skillset certainly profiles as the exact type of hitter they need at the top of the order. A table setter who is going to hit over .300, steal bases, work counts and minimize strikeouts. His results in the Arizona Fall League are certainly encouraging. I doubt he'll begin the year in Milwaukee (that's a really big jump, and he is still very young and doesn't have a lot of experience). I hope he is over the elbow injury concern as well. They will need to determine soon what his ETA is, because if they feel he isn't going to be ready, they need to acquire a 2B who profiles as a table setter. They just have too many Schoop types already in the lineup for that to work. My thinking? Deal Aguilar - see if someone buys high on him. Aguilar could be a centerpiece for a TOR starter. Go with Moose at third, Shaw/Braun at first. See where Hirua is, keep Schoop to go with Perez in the infield.
  2. Except for the part where they made it to the NLCS and still have a chance at making the World Series. Counsell deserves Manager of the Year for getting the Crew this far. But right now, they have their backs to the wall - and they need some legendary stuff to take the next two straight.
  3. The fact of the matter is that the Brewers have had to make a patchwork rotation work, and now it's caught up to them. They banked that Nelson would return at some point, and that didn't happen. Chase Anderson, Zach Davies, Wade Miley, and Brent Suter all spent time on the DL. Woodruff and Burnes were moved to the pen. Peralta did well, but ran into an innings limit. Then the offense went cold. It's a 1-2 punch the Crew couldn't recover from.
  4. How about giving Hernan a green light to steal? Maybe the catcher makes a bad throw...
  5. Agreed. Miley goes 6, Woodruff 2, Jeffress 1. Gio out with high ankle sprain.
  6. And Buehler as well... plus they didn't do that bad against Ryu...
  7. Davies, at least, has a track record of success against the Dodgers. Put him on, maybe he catches lightning.
  8. Have you been contemplating this the last 12.0 IP/4 hours? That, and a few other things... like maybe selling high on a player or two.
  9. I'm beginning to think the Crew should let Gio go over the offseason, but bring back Wade Miley.
  10. Hard to believe we're gonna lose the NLCS eventually, but the pen's gonna be worn out after this, win or lose.
  11. Schoop is due for s big hit. He's played too well in the past to just fall off a cliff...
  12. In this case, I expect Jeffress to the be only unavailable arm. Get the win today, maybe Gio goes 4, Woodruff goes 3, and an inning from Soria and Knebel each. Crew goes up 3-1.
  13. With 19 pitches, Knebel gets five outs. Very good news. should be able to pitch tomorrow. Go with Hader for two, get this game secure. Turn to Wholestaff to go up 3-1.
  14. True, but the issue is that putting a really good reliever in there for an extra inning doesn't necessarily make it any safer. They can do it pretty effectively, but I don't think that's how they're wired. I'm willing to bet their stats suffer a lot in the 2nd inning of work, unless they're an established long reliever. I think the number of pitches comes into play. Knebel's at 16. If he's below 20, he's available for tomorrow, I'd think.
  15. Hader is different from Scherzer or Kershaw - he only has two pitches he can command. If you can get someone with three or four pitches, and that kind of talent, go for the TOR option. Ideally, develop both shut-down relievers who can go two innings AND good starters.
  16. What about Freddy Peralta? Also, when Miley was cruising, why pull him? Big difference to be going to LA up 2-0 as opposed to tied 1-1.
  17. MLB reportedly wanted the Dodgers to win the NLCS... is this a game being played to do just that?
  18. Make Stearns President of Baseball Operations, Arnold Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations, and Ray Montgomery Vice President of Scouting and Player Development.
