  1. Re-signing Miley and Gio would be the first preference from my end. DJ worked a minor miracle with Miley, and Gio could emerge as well if he gets a full spring training with DJ. Corbin will be tied to Milwaukee... and use that to drive up his offer from the Yankees or Cubs. OTOH, maybe it's time for the Crew to being back CC Sabathia if Miley, Gio , or both end up departing via FA.
  2. Posting an OPS of .790 or above is nothing to sneeze at. Thames did have some injury problems this year, so I think he's a very good candidate to rebound - and taking his extension may not be a bad idea. But the Crew, I think, has a very good chance to pick up some help in the rotation from Japan or Korea. They've got some contacts already...
  3. So, who is the team leader in game-winning RBIs? They stopped having it long ago... would be curious to see which Brewer today has the lead.
  4. Perez may be a good fit hitting behind Cain since he does have a decent .286 batting average against Quintana. For the #2 slot, you can do a lot worse. He's also been hot against lefties lately...
  5. How about Estrada? Might be a cost-effective boost, ala Chacin.
  6. Right now, Chacin-plus is arguably the best way to do it. The ideal would be Jeffress-plus, a one-year deal with multiple option years, but I think we'd need at least two years to keep Miley on.
  7. I'd go Chacin-plus, 2/15 with a team option for 10.
  8. I just hope the Crew's saved enough runs for tomorrow...
  9. Quintana is going I think......lefty No matter... we shall complete the sweep.
  10. I still think that Miley can come back on a reasonable deal (maybe a one-year deal with a team option or two), given that he missed time with injuries this year. Gio Gonzales as well (one year "prove it" deal with team option or two). Get those two in the fold, and it goes well with Anderson, Chacin, Davies, Peralta, Woodruff, Burnes, Guerra, and Nelson.
  11. Get the Cubs bullpen, then strike... I want a sweep.
  12. With the success of the Thames signing... do you think the Brewers look to KBO or Japan to bring in some reinforcements? Could there be a pitcher who could, like Thames, come in at a reasonable price, but be a huge contributor? Are those places the places to find help at catcher or shortstop?
  13. Could be very intriguing in a few years...
  14. The Crew needs multiple Haders - relief aces who could go 2 innings and shut down another team. Olczak and Andrews have that potential. But I feel very good about two waves of starters: Roegner-Supak-Brown, due around 2020/2021, and Ashby-Sunitsch due in 2021/2022. They'd join Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta. This is not a bad bunch. Not conventional TOR types, but they could do the job.
  15. Hummel's bat is arguably the best at the position. It's frustrating. Like when I'd see Gantner in a box score in the late 80s (he's my least favorite Brewer of all time - didn't do anything) or when I see Arcia in the box score now...
  16. Murphy would be someone to claim - option Arcia if necessary and DFA a pitcher for the 40-man spot. As a free-agent pick-up, if keeping Moose is not going to happen, I'd take him in an instant. He's been hurt, so he may go for a one-year "prove it" deal with a team option.
  17. I see Hader and Woodruff as a 1-2 shut-down tandem, with Jeffress, Cedeno, Knebel, and Soria. Perhaps one of Burnes or Peralta also goes there. A shut-down bullpen and a good offense can go a long way.
  18. Davies, when good, is able to go deep into games. If he rebounds, he, Chacin, and Anderson become a very good 1-2-3. Nelson... I'm expecting a 2016 form of Nelson, just from the layoff. Not bad, but lots of better options. But the real question will be, "who has option years left?" Davies has one. Burnes will have a couple. It may be less performance and more... who can the Crew send down and not risk losing?
