We need `em to... but I bet a lot of the relievers have the rust off them. Miley for 3, Burnes for 2, Peralta for 2, then Knebel and Jeffress to finish them.
The Crew's pitchers were a little rusty... won't be an issue now. Plus... Woodruff homered off Kershaw. Woodruff, a pitcher batting left-handed took their vaunted ace deep. The Crew took everything the Dodgers could throw at them, and won. Let's see if they can chase Ryu in the 3rd.
Yet it's disappointing that they didn't see fit to jump him up to AAA this year. I thought for sure he was ticketed for a move, and it's isn't like the team had massive amounts of OF depth at AAA. He needs to make a sizable leap to his average at AAA next year to help his prospect status. I'm pulling for him, as there just isn't many guys out there with his body type and skillset profile. Biloxi was in a playoff chase - he was kept there for that reason, I think. With the state of the major-league franchise, Stokes getting post-season experience was probably seen as better for his development.
Davies, over his career, has dominated the Dodgers. I'd go Miley, Gio, Davies, Bullpen In any case, the Brewers need to take the first two in Miller Park. Game four is the Johnny Wholestaff.
I'm serious when I say that I think Troy Stokes is arguably the best all-around outfield prospect the Crew has. He's always had speed and OBP skills, and now he's added power. The defense doesn't seem too bad, either.
He was profiled with having above average speed, but it wasn't hugely noteworthy. I think the base stealing must be something that he's been told to focus on. Having another ++ tool would certainly help his ascent to the big leagues. The real interesting move would be to have him bat second, Yelich third, Cain leading off...
I'm not sure Broxton stays. I think we need the 12th pitcher this series. We'll have that 3 games in a row set in LA. Also we were a bit lucky that literally everyone on the mound executed. Miley and Chacin had solid starts and bridged all the way to the late inning guys. We might not be so lucky this time, and much less room for error with navigating 11 arms in a 7 game series. I think we need a 12th arm to be safe. Agreed, but Broxton's defense can be a difference maker - I'd drop Santana for Cedeno if that is the switch that needs to happen.
Yes, the lead is solid and our pen is loaded. And there was an off day yesterday. Use the pen, finish off the Rockies, and the entire staff is rested for the NLDS.
This second inning has to be a downer for the Rockies... after a leadoff hit and a walk, they strand the runners - following a 1-2-3 inning. The Crew gets a couple runs here... they got a chance to put this away.
