  1. Hernan Perez just drew a walk... Did anyone see anything unusual... like an announcement of a new ski resort in The Bad Place?
  2. If the Crew wins the division, then we don't have to worry about our pitchers being gassed due to a wild card game, now do we?
  3. Why imagine that lineup with an eye towards 2019 when it could be done right now ? OH, I wish, but Arcia's there. He's rapidly overtaking Jim Gantner as my all-time LEAST favorite Brewer. Same reason - an offensive black hole.
  4. Here is what is amazing - imagine this Opening Day 2019 lineup: cf: Cain rf: Yelich 1b: Aguilar 2b: Shaw lf: Braun 3b: Moustakas ss: Schoop c: Pina Pitcher I think 2019 will be even better than 2018!
  5. I think they looked only at homers. Two other factors were probably not accounted for entirely: 1. Miller Park meant that other fly balls that didn't go out of the park instead went off the wall for doubles rather than being caught for outs. Those add to average and SLG, too. 2. He also has had Aguilar, Shaw, and Braun behind him in the order, giving him a fair bit of protection. He saw more fastballs. Yeah, he could hurt you, but those three are still dangerous (Braun was "unlucky" in the first half).
  6. It's worth a shot... Anything to psych out the Redbirds. BTW, can we just get a Moose-Schoop-Shaw-Aguilar infield tonight? Lots of power to club Cardinals pitchers like baby seals...
  7. I had my doubts about both signings, but am glad to have been proven wrong on them. I think this Brewers team, with a couple of tweaks, could be very good next year - if they can be kept together. If they keep Miley and/or Gio in the fold, this could be a good team. I think the Cubs aren't gonna be able to hold on as much - too old, too many bad contracts. Go with a good-sized payroll in 2019, then replace Moose with Hiura in 2020 (that will be a power decline but another Cain-esque bat), while Stokes and Ray replace Santana and Thames. There may be some offensive degradation (I doubt it), but those who like defense will be happy. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ray get reps at first to be a true Thames replacement (albeit better in the OF than Thames).
  8. Further down, Roegner, Hummel, and Weston Wilson look like they could be contributors as well.
  9. Yeah he’s been fine. Hopefully he adjusts for next year and the numbers will actually reflect it. Or he just gets luckier next year. I think the obsession with sabremetrics discounts just how luck - or human factors - can play into some of this. Contact a millisecond earlier or later means the ball gets by a fielder, or drops in for a hit. Contact a millimeter higher means the ball misses a glove, or instead of being caught at the warning track, it goes off the wall.
  10. Five pitchers had 51 saves in a season: Dennis Eckersley, 1992 Rod Beck, 1998 Jim Johnson, 2012 Mark Melancon, 2015 Jeurys Familia, 2016
  11. Knebel did it! Now for Hader... But Pina, Knebel, and Granderson due to bat...
  12. There's also Freddy Peralta, who's rested and can go a couple. At the end of this day, Brewers shall stand, Cubs shall fall.
  13. Getting lucky... Just need three more innings of luck, then hand it to Hader and Jeffress for the shutdown.
  14. I think he is going to emerge - the Bears are making a huge bet on him with the Mack trade. That said, the Bears need to remember they have an excellent pair of running backs in Howard and Tarik Cohen, and to trust that running game on third-and-short. As for the defense... the 3-4's just not stopping teams. Perhaps they need to go back to the 46.
  15. Yeah, started as a fan after Super Bowl XX, but really didn't become a die-hard fan until after the Charles Martin incident.
  16. Yeah, and if Nagy hadn't been almost Pete Carroll-level stupid (pass on the goal line when Marshawn Lynch was the best power back in the league) and had instead given it to Jordan Howard, the Bears get the W. Well done - Rodgers is one of the best QBs in the league and showed why. Kahlil Mack, though... when he and Roquon Smith are in shape, I think the Bears defense will be very good - and the rematch in Soldier Field will go the other way.
  17. I assume in this scenario you put Aguilar in CF and Davies at catcher? More like this becomes the lineup: cf: Cain rf: Yelich 1b: Aguilar 2b: Shaw 3b: Braun lf: Thames ss: Schoop c: Pina Pitcher Craig's Crushers 2019! That ball's gonna be flyin' outta there.
  18. I wonder if they give him/Braun split playing tone in the OF next year and see if one shows he’s worth starting. They almost gotta give Santana 1 more shot. They can call up Ray if needed mid season I hope they dont sit Braun if hes hitting like he has lately. Well, if Moose walks, Braun's an option at third... keep Shaw at second, put Schoop at short... *Ducks*
