  1. Keith with a walk... Wes, make Prior PAY!!!
  2. Grieve with a walk... C'mon Keith, take Prior deep again...
  3. Can the Crew get another inning going? It would be nice to chase Prior early and feast on the Cubs' middle relievers...
  4. The thing is... there is no real reason why Sheets, Davis, and Capuano shouldn't be part of the Brewers rotation for the next five years at least... And to think, Santos and Obie will be replaced next year by Hendrickson and Saenz... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. How about Podsednik? One hit, TWO WALKS. He's gettin' on base a LOT lately, hasn't he? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  6. I wonder if Podsednik could just get red-hot over the next three or four weeks. Go 35-75, or something like that, and draw a dozen walks... He'd be back to his `03 levels. Hopefully the power totals are here to stay.
  7. It was nice to see Scotty's bat come to life this weekend. Five-for-eight, IIRC. If he keeps this sort of thing up, he just might be pushing clsoer to .300. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Santos for someone to play catcher?
  9. JaNelson52 Grieve should only be in left field. I don't want him in right. If he is playing, move Jenkins to right. Arguably, Lyle Overbay would be a better OF option - with Grieve moving to 1B. His defense in the outfield is a liability.
  10. danzig6767 That seems to be a big problem, I think. The fact is, while the team is good at getting on base (much better than some past Brewers clubs - 2001 comes to mind...), the big problem is that the team's hitters outside of Overbay and Jenkins don't really have the power to make a pitcher pay for a mistake. The Crew should have gotten both the runs needed to win in - and didn't. Overbay's at-bat was pretty bad, too. The right field platton has been a disappointment. Third base has also been pretty disappointing on the power angle (Wes Helms started slow, then got hurt - and Keith Ginter's not hitting the way he did last year or in `02, for that matter). Bill Hall is good, but Yost keeps playing Counsell because Hall's glove is questionable. I think a big reason for some of Podsednik's dropoff in OBP is due to him pressing to add some power. He sees runenrs on base, he tries to drive them in. That is NOT his game - it is closer to OBP and speed. That said, even in this "disappointing" year, he's leading the NL in stolen bases, and is 30-for-32. The offense needs some changeover next year. Helms, Moeller/Bennett, Counsell, and Grieve/Clark need to be replaced. I see hope to replace Grieve/Clark with Corey Hart. Maybe Bill Hall can take over for Counsell - and when JJ Hardy comes up, he can slide Hall to third, displacing Helms. But right now... the Brewers don't have the offensive punch of a playoff team. The pitching staff is, IMHO, 90% there. But the offense has a long way to go.
  11. The fact is, the Crew got `em on, but couldn't put it away. Aside from Podsednik, Jenkins, Hall, Ginter, and Overbay, I think the Brewers need to make a pretty big cleanout of their position players.
  12. Hey... maybe Brady thought he could drive it. But Overbay should have been able to get a run in with one out. Shame to see a quality start go to waste. Tough loss for Cappy.
  13. So... here is hoping for a little PAYBACK.
  14. rluzinski and JaNelson52 Ask the 1986 Angels (ALCS), the 2001 Yankees (World Series), the 2002 Giants (World Series) and the 2003 Red Sox (ALCS) if they wish they had been able to put their opponents away after getting them on the ropes. The 1986 Red Sox probably also qualify as well (remember that World Series?). All of them had 3-2 leads. Some would have won a three-game set. But they don't have the pennant or the trophy, do they?
  15. AJAY I've said it before... they have to put the opponents AWAY for that third game of the series. If they're going to be in the post-season... this is something that the club has to learn today. Game six of the NLCS against the Scrubs is not the time to learn that.
  16. And it's official. Another time they get a team on theropes, and they let them up AGAIN! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  17. The Twins are on the ropes, people. FINISH THEM!!
  18. The good news: The rewers were good enough to beat the Twins and the umps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Way to go, Podzilla. Do me a fa vor... stay ticked off.
  19. JaNelson52 Podsednik is the only CF on the roster. What do you want Yost to do, dump a pitcher and call up Mitch Bergeron? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  20. brewmann04 The Crew needs to get into the habit of finishing opponents off when they are on the ropes. Win the first two games, then finish the job. This sort of thing might not seem important now, and I'm glad to win another three-game series, but when it's the playoffs, finishing off opponents will matter. I'd like to see the team get into the habit sooner, rather than later.
  21. As it stands... Once again, up 2-0 in a series, and they can't finish off the sweep. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif What else can you say... it's frustrating. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  22. Matt Kinney is being the usual Matt Kinney... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  23. Luis and Danny pitched the past couple of days... I don't think sending them out three days running is a good idea.
  24. If only Counsell got on ahead of Brady...
  25. Interesting... I'd try it if I had a guy on third, and the guy they were IBBing was a righty. Catcher's in a bad spot. EDIT: Nice work by Cappy to get out of this. Now, get a lead of two ro three runs, and hand it over to Matt Wise and/or Burba.
