  1. If only Sheets was pitching today, the Crew just might have one. Well, I suppose a bullpen game could work for today. Would that mean Obie tomorrow, Sheets on Saturday, and Davis on Sunday?
  2. Gee, the Brewers win, but Lyle Overbay's hitting streak ends... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  3. Yeah... for two runs? I'm going to just die of embarrassment atfer this one. ANY time a starter shuts the other side out for seven @!*&@#@ innings the Crew ought to put the darn game away with a WIN. They need Cappy up there tomorrow. Bullpen game won't cut it. The Crew has no room for error against good teams.
  4. igor67 Miller Park isn't exactly a bandbox (344 LF, 370 LC, 400 CF, 374 RC, 345 RF). Davis won't have to be an ace, but if he could be a solid #3, I'll take that. I'd be very happy to have a Sheets-Hendrickson-Davis 1-2-3 punch at the top of the Brewers rotation for the forseeable future.
  5. igor67 I view it differently: A team that can beat you with speed (Podsednik, Weeks, Hart - Krynzel and/or Gwynn on the bench) or with power (Overbay, Fielder, Hart, Nelson).
  6. I say bring Cappy up. I want to sweep the Braves. This is a chance to make some noise in the NL Central. They ought to take it.
  7. BREWERS WIN!!! Break out the SWEEP SUITS!
  8. Best thing to do is pull Davis after this inning. He gave eight innings, and there has to be someone the Crew can put out there in a no-pressure situation (Bennett?) for the last inning of this series.
  9. BlazinWings The Kiss of Death Not like it can make much difference either way. Both would be arby-eligible after 2007, and free agents after 2010 if Hendrickson were to come up after June 1. I just don't see the need to rush Hendrickson when Saenz has shown he can do the job, and his clock has started. But Saenz's performance leads me to think that maybem the Brewers could push Hendrickson's ETA to June 2005, and thus, that would make Hendrickson arby-eligible after 2008, and a free agent after 2011. One more year from Hendrickson is worth it, I think.
  10. DHonks I'd rather call up Saenz first. His "clock" has already started, so why also start Hendrickson's arby/free agency clock as well this year? Saenz did good enough in his first start to make him my first choice to cal up if we need another starter. I'd rather run him out there, and at worst, buy Hendrickson all of 2004 at Indy, than have to deal with two arby clocks running as of this year. Saenz handled the pressure pretty well when he came up on short notice to take over for Cappy. Why not have him be the first call-up? A rotation of Sheets, Davis, Capuano, Sanez, and Obermueller will be okay for 2004, I think. Hendrickson can be plugged in for Obie in `05.
  11. AJAY I'd have to assume that Helms will have slow Aprils - at least in Milwaukee. Must be the weather. *shrugs* Three insurance runs. And even if Doug makes an out, the Crew will have the top of the order coming up in the 6th. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  12. Consider this: Overbay's got a 2-0 count. Will Kim load the base to face Wes Helms, or pitch to Overbay, and risk giving up two more runs on a double?
  13. AJAY I can see that point. BTW - A pickoff throw goes awry. And there is a chance for an insurance run.
  14. How long is Lyle's hitting streak now? 15 games, IIRC.
  15. And a 1-2-3 inning for Davis. 76 pitches through 5 innings. Yeah, looks like we got a Jamie Moyer on our hands. Two hits and one walk through five innings. If Overbay and Hall hadn't made those errors, the Crew would be pretty close to putting this game away.
  16. Which would you rather have: 88 doubles, or 45 homers? EDIT: None of the three suns scored were earned runs, so Davis's ERA is NOW down to 4.30...
  17. DHonks Hey, Obermueller wasn't too bad this last time out. Give him some credit. No need to call up Hendrickson. Recall Saenz instead. Or do we want to start ANOTHER arby clock?
  18. Anders34 I agree. This is getting ridiculous, folks. Hasn't ANYONE on the Huntsville staff heard of something called "chin music" for situations such as this?
  19. Uh... not to nitpick on things... but do we WANT Brewers hitters to be swinging at the first pitch of an at bat? *pause* ONLY KIDDING!!!! I loved this win!!!
  20. Oh, ****. That's his season. Push another ETA back a year.
  21. There really was only ONE bad start for Davis this year: April 11th against the Astros. He's been fine the rest of the year.
  22. DHonks Raburn's pitching pretty well. I say, keep using him. A more versatile Brooks K. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. New club record of 18: The major league record is 50. 18 down, 33 to go... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Get him in the three hole of the lineup. He's perfect for that spot.
