  1. Man I miss watching Zack Greinke. Greinke hasn't allowed more than 2 runs in a game since July 25th, a span of 20 consecutive starts counting the post season.
  2. I think that was pretty well acknowledged as the reason the Red Sox didn't say anything about the hand incident. They had to say something last night, and Farrell basically acknowledged they had to do it only because of how blatant it was.
  3. What was amazing was how utterly blatant it was, the Red Sox bench was just standing at the edge of the dugout in disbelief.
  4. I don't have the disdain for the Cubs that I had around 2007, but there was a lot of poetry in that collapse.

  6. Completely agree, which is why I'm upset Snider only got 2 games. The focus media wise is between Gomez and Cole, but Snider was the actual catalyst to the physical portions of that event. I agree with this as well, I think that would be a valid approach for them to take, it would have completely avoided the fight and suspensions in this case. Plus it would eliminate the silliness of watching guys charge in from the bullpen only to get there when the 5 second dust-up is over.
  7. Didn't see the Little Finger thing coming. Poor Sansa.
  8. 1) I can't figure out what language you tried to use there, but you've been here long enough to know better than that. 2) I don't think the suspension had a thing to do with the bat flip. Cole barked and walked away. Gomez didn't. If that were true, every player should just stay on the bench no matter what. I can't blame Maldonado, in the moment it looked like Gomez was taken down more than he really was. Emotions were high and take over very easily in moments like that.

  10. Everybody focuses on Cole, but if Snider stays back, the whole thing ends up being your standard MLB dustup and nobody gets a suspension.
  11. We'll make this the general thread for this. The other suspensions have come down: Maldonado suspended 5 games, Gomez 3 games. Snider got 2 games and Martin 1 game. All fined. Twitter seems made that Cole wasn't suspended. IMO, you can't suspend a guy for barking though, so I would agree with him not getting a suspension. Personally, I'm more upset that somehow Snider only gets 2, he should have the same as Gomez.
  12. Pretty sure he won't get paid for those games. Assuming 5 games and his additional $2,500 fine, he's looking at that punch costing him almost $18,000. Crazy when you think of it that way.
  13. My understanding is you play short if a player is suspended, you don't get a roster move to compensate.
  14. The suspension just came down today; he wasn't "pre-serving" the suspension last night....he just didn't play. Agreed that the off day will make it easier for Lucroy to handle catching everyday; it's basically 3 games consecutive (Monday - Wednesday), a day off, then another 3 games. Maybe float him an extra off day in the next series, but it's not that different from his usual routine. Fear The Chorizo meant that Maldonado started the game last night, not the suspension. No doubt he started last night as a result of the upcoming suspension. I would agree that he just starts serving it immediately. At best he gets a game off, but the timing of it might not work out as well at a later date.
  15. Not to nitpick, but to nitpick a bit, Karabell didn't get a vote, so at best we know it was maybe 3-1 putting the Brewers on top.

  17. Found this on a Pirates forum talking about yesterday. What I thought was interesting was Volquez got caught using a fertility drug, the same way Manny Ramirez did, it had nothing to do with injury. These types of drugs are typically used to restart testosterone production after coming off a steroids cycle. Braun on the other hand, seems to have actually used PEDs to come back from injury. We all see what we want to see.

  19. Not that I don't like BA, but I'll take that versus BA taking a few seasons to stop thinking every fly ball was a home run.
  20. I don't understand it when this stuff happens early in a game, as if no team has ever come back from such an early deficit. Does Bo Porter tell his guys after the first to pack it in, the game is lost?
