  1. When the Bears played there, the field was laid out from south to north. This time, it's going to be laid out from east to west. Between 1933-1973, goal posts in the NFL were on the goal line. But college football goal posts have always been on the end line (I think), and there must have been college football played there in the past. One difference, though, is that goal posts are now offset from the end line. Old style goal posts sat right on the line.
  2. Where did they put the football field when the Bears used to play there?
  3. Take a look at these two links. http://deletemalware.blog...hinkpoint-uninstall.html http://www.myantispyware....-uninstall-instructions/ The instructions are very similar in the beginning. Both of them tell you to boot your computer and hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE quickly after the Think Point screen appears. That will bring up the task manager. From the task manager, you'd terminate hotfix.exe. At that point, you'd start up explorer.exe from the Task Manager. The first link offers a workaround to try if starting up explorer.exe fails. Things differ at this point. The first link has you downloading and running an extra file (windows-shell.reg); the second link doesn't include that step. Also, the first link says one of several malware removal programs should be fine. The second one says to use MalwareBytes. In addition to written instructions, the second link offers a video. I can't critique it because I didn't watch it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif My gut says that I'd download and run windows-shell.reg (mentioned in the first link) as part of the attempt to fix this issue. But I'd certainly have both sets of instructions handy. And I'd certainly watch the video.
  4. Can you boot into Safe Mode and do a system restore from there?
  5. My first choice would be to avoid a lot of fixing by restoring the entire hard drive from the last good backup created before the mess started. That way, you'd only have to isolate a few files that might have been modified since that date and run the scanners to make sure they're clean before putting them back. You could go back to a restore point set before the problem occurred. You wouldn't actually remove the bum files, but they should be rendered inactive. That might make followup steps a whole lot easier.
  6. There's some kind of formula out there for determining ideal TV screen size, but I can't remember what it is off hand. There are a bunch of HDTV size calculators available that allow you to enter various criteria to determine the range of sizes best suited for your situation.
  7. (1440 is the columns, and 1080 is the rows) Actually, it's 1920x1080, but who's counting. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif 720p is either 1280×720 or 1366 x 768. As others have mentioned, glare and power consumption are concerns with plasma. However, sets have generally improved in these areas. Weight is another concern. I specifically chose LCD because of the lighting situation where the unit is placed. Had that not been a concern, I may have gone with plasma. Speaking of HDMI, etc., make sure you have plenty of inputs. You never know what you might hook up in the future. Also, it pays to know how the non-HDMI inputs work. I have a cheap (actually free) smaller set where the non-HDMI inputs share the same audio. So while you have the choice of video inputs, only one of them is actually operable at one time.
  8. If you opt for plasma, refresh rate will definitely be way beyond LCD, meaning that you can disregard it (if the manufacturer even bothers to make it available). I don't think contrast ratio is much of a factor either. lcbj68c, how big is your room, and what's the most usual viewing distance going to be? hawing pointed out "only" 40", but that's how things are these days. A friend who sells TVs says that the number one reason for returns is that the screen is too small.
  9. I would think that a collectors' shop would very likely be aware of the legality of selling your photos. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. If it turned out to be illegal, Brewerfan obviously wouldn't be able to allow you to use the Trading Post to peddle the pictures. Of course, exploring the legality is certainly a topic that's appropriate on the board.
  11. I think that Puckett's sudden departure due to the glaucoma got him a lot of votes as opposed to Mattingly's slow decline from his back problems... Kirby got in on the same basis as Sandy Koufax. Both careers were cut short while the players were at or near their peaks.
  12. Anyone named on 75% of the ballots will be voted in. This appears to be a list that's been presented to the existing Veterans Committee. That's the group of living Hall of Famers that hasn't elected anyone they replaced the previous Veterans Committee. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...ey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  13. Of course, if Peterson is brought back, we may never know the alternatives that Roenicke might be considering.
  14. Heck, Dave Duncan didn't even pitch. He was a catcher.
  15. Is "batting runs" the same as "runs batting"? Quoth Baseball-Reference: On Yo's BR page, it says his "Runs Batting" is 2 (rather than 1.9). It's not that the difference is huge, but it makes me wonder if I'm looking in the right place. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Gallardo had 1.9 batting runs this season, so that's about .08 of ERA for him. How does one arrive at that calculation, i.e. batting runs needing to be divided by two? Can the same be done with a stat that's been deemed to be more accurate than ERA?
  17. It's especially good news that the problem went away quickly. I've seen directions that say to try cleaning the keyboard with water. They tend to indicate that waiting 24 hours is part of the process. However, these directions almost always apply to desktop keyboards, which are much less expensive to replace to begin with. I have a plastic keyboard protector for my desktop keyboard. I'm much more likely to spill something on it than on the notebook. Plus, the desktop keyboard is an older model that's out of production. They sell used on eBay at prices higher than they cost new.
  18. Coffee's going to be worse than plain water, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope this isn't a notebook computer, but I'm going to bet that it probably is. A cheap, but bulky, workaround would be to buy the cheapest keyboard available and type from that.
  19. You're totally right, valpo, and the schedule is totally wrong. It should really be fixed for any schedules that are printed in the future. I'd e-mail someone about that. To go along with that, it took about a year of complaining to get Yuku to stop putting "PST" in maintenance announcements that occurred during the summer months. The worst thing is that staff refused to make any clarification when people asked, "Do you actually mean PDT or do we need to think in terms of PST?" One staff member went so far as to tell us that there was such a thing as "PDST" (Pacific Daylight Standard Time). Seriously. And for several months, there was an announcement on support.yuku.com's main page pimping weekly Sunday chats at 1:00 PM EDST. If people living in North America are confused, picture the users on other continents who had to try to figure out when maintenance was going to occur. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. I don't believe it's snowed at all yet, which is always a plus. Here in north central Wisconsin, having snow that "sticks" in October is probably about a 50-50 proposition. The chance of seeing snow that doesn't stick is probably very close to 100%.
  21. September callups receive both Major League salary and credit toward service time. Their days on the roster don't count against rookie status; however, their innings pitched and at bats do count against it.
  22. I've hidden the two previous replies in this topic. They had links and instructions for watching the voting. support.yuku.com has been undergoing a lot of reorganization, and almost everything I linked to in the two hidden posts ended up pointing to the wrong destination. It's better to start fresh. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The links in the lead are still good, however, and if you haven't voted, taking a minute to do so would be appreciated. The buttons for voting have moved. Rather than being next to reply buttons, they're now at the top of the thread. Currently, for all issues, the buttons say "Cool Idea." (I think the buttons are subject to change, so I'm not going to take any more screen captures right now.) As of now, Mobile Apps has the second highest vote total among feature requests (55 votes). The 'blank last page' bug has the highest vote total among bugs (57 votes). The less sexy--but important--alt text request has 37 votes, third among features that aren't completed. You can follow voting by checking the forums containing the topics, Bugs, and Features. Click on the word Votes at the top of the Votes column to sort topics by votes. There's also a "Most Voted" list in the right sidebar on support.yuku.com's main page. This is a feed and may be a bit behind, but it offers a combined list of topics from all forums.
  23. Thanks. And really good timing. You'd have caught the topic with 21 replies (22 total posts) and two hidden messages. I'm going to see what happens in a member profile when I link to reply #18/20. I'll be back in a bit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: Linking to reply #18/20 is fine in a member profile at 20 posts per page.
  24. One of the cable channels needs to dig out this WKRP episode and rerun it.
  25. Never. Math is not my friend. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif [(21 - 17) + 39] - 40 = 3
