  1. I found it to be distasteful, too. I edited the lead and hid some replies. One hidden reply was perfectly appropriate, but it became irrelevant once the others were hidden.
  2. Owen, you might find some interesting material in this thread: Who would you replace Ned with? Bump it up if you'd like, or go ahead and continue discussion here. The only request I'd have is that the Nedly replacement thread not turn into a Nedly referendum thread. Pretty much anything goes in this one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. This, unfortunately, leads me to expect reasonable decisions from Yost in the subsequent games. It's like that month a couple years ago where Craig Counsell had four homers and a .900-plus OPS. You get tempted to think it'll continue, but you know it isn't going to happen.
  4. BA is cool for helping us qualify a player's skills as part of the slash stats (BA/OBP/SLG). And it's also helpful for deciding how to address a few unique game situations, e.g., driving in the game-winning run from third. If you need a pinch hitter in a situation where SLG doesn't matter and a BB is inconsequential or negative, I'd look at BA.
  5. I think the idea of the Branyan/Hall platoon batting second is a way cool idea. Short of that, Mike has six weeks of playing time in. That's too soon to mess with a guy's spot in the order unless an alternative slaps you in the face. And six weeks is way too soon to mess with a player's starting status. If Cameron's reduced playing time came with an explanation like, "we feel time in the cage is beneficial at this point," I could buy into that. Or if we're told, "we're sitting him more often now so he doesn't have to sit as often when he heats up," I could deal with that, too. Maybe this is what's being said behind closed doors, but I don't feel the assurance that it is. As far as Kapler goes, a .358 OBP and .530 SLG are the kind of #2 numbers you'd like to see. It's a 100 AB sample, though, and I can't see it continuing.
  6. Tuesdays, your statement doesn't match up to the line you quoted. The operative words are "has to be traded to make room for LaPorta." There are several ways Matt could be brought on board when the time comes. Certainly, trading Prince is one of the options. But, at least at this point, we're not running into an Overbay situation where it'd have been nearly impossible to get both guys into the lineup.
  7. I've gotten into four chatrooms in the last few minutes, including here and at LambeauLeap. Let's see if this sticks.
  8. Actually, it's left on for those of us in Brewer home territory. I don't have the sports package right now, but if I remember correctly, everyone's pre and post-game shows were available... just not the games.
  9. Photobucket pares everything back to a maximum of 1024 X 768 px. Depending on what might one want to do with the picture in the future, that may or may not be significant.
  10. I don't like that name "Riillo's Rants" for Jeff's pre-game segment. He isn't ranting. No news on the chat other than what I posted in Issues late last night.
  11. A sampling of condescending quotes from posts in this thread that have been hidden:
  12. The most recent update is that developers tried a fix that failed. Over the weekend, they work from remote locations. If these efforts don't work, this issue may have to wait until they're in the office on Monday. By the way, if you missed any notes in other threads, this problem is Yuku-wide. Nobody's chat works.
  13. I think Billy thrived under Wynegar. It seemed like a situation where the two just "clicked."
  14. It's only on page 42 for me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Is the humidor setting part of the scouting report?
  16. I sure couldn't tell. I need a TV screen that's about twice the size.
  17. ewiz, there's a temperature restriction. Because it's in Celsius, I don't remember what it is.
  18. Interesting trivia that Gumby wore #31 during his 1977 Brewer stint.
  19. Jason caught a popup bunt and caught the runner off second.
  20. As people have noticed, chat's busted. The only news I have to report is that Yuku knows about it. There's a thread in Issues for updates. If it starts working, post to let us know. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. No need to post that the chat room is down. However, it'd be cool to see someone add to this thread if they find that it's started to work. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Brewerfan and other boards certainly shouldn't affect what the Brewers do in regard to players and roster moves. However, I think they could pick up some very interesting information regarding things that affect fans in other ways, i.e., the Miller Park experience. I certainly hope someone is reading the FSN Production Is Horrible thread.
  23. Hey, gang, six posts in this thread have been hidden from view for various reasons. If you'd like it to stay open, please play nice and within the rules.
  24. Honestly, I think trying to judge the stress level of one job relative to another is fruitless. Most any job has its stressors, and individuals react differently.
  25. I have been a staunch defender of Ned's when I feel he is unfairly blamed for poor team performance... I'm in the "nay to Yost" camp, but I'll certainly defend him when I think criticism is unwarranted. I can't say I'm going to be staunch, though. What we are sick of is managers using "The Book" as a crutch to justify not even trying to think for themselves. I'd like to have a manager who tries stuff in that other The Book, but unfortunately, I don't think we're at a point where Melvin, or any GM for that matter, is going to go out and look for one.
