  1. Permission from the current team and from the commissioner's office is necessary. 72 hours is a common window, but the amount of time granted is decided on a case by case basis. I seem to remember 48 hours being used, too. I'd guess that shorter windows are granted for in-season trades.
  2. The team might have to make an adjustment should Sheets pitch in the All Star game. Also, it might pay to set things up so Parra and McClung have as much time off as possible.
  3. I suppose the duration of any credit screening depends on who's footing the bill. My parents each got a year from the state the last time morons in the tax department sent out forms with social security numbers on the mailing labels. I certainly think it'd be worth picking up the tab to go more than 90 days.
  4. We've heard this in the past, so it really isn't "new" news; it's just a reaffirmation. As far as the sample size, 600 can be OK of appropriate steps are taken to assure randomness. Online surveys almost never qualify that way, though. Companies like Gallup, however, can do a good job with seemingly small numbers.
  5. I haven't heard anything about the team doing this, especially during the season. Although I can't be sure, it seems that at one point or another, the Brewers may have been using fines if players reported overweight to Spring Training, though.
  6. So how come nobody says anything in this thread when the Cubs kick somebody's butt. That stuff usually lands in the vent thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. In an chat before to the 2007 season, Corey stated, "I don't shy away from any food, and I welcome any food to my plate."
  8. I know someone that's so allergic to dogs that he had a reaction after playing frisbee with a dog in a lake.
  9. Katuluu 48, Toby 47.
  10. I find it gross when kids that are old enough to walk use those things. My nephews were weaned from them by the time they were about three months old. Parents have the advantage of skipping over the explanations that way.
  11. It'd be nice to see the Sox come to Miller Park more frequently, but to suggest that the Cubs stole them would seem to be a bit of hyperbole.
  12. How about "Cubs and Sox fans vs. drunken lout"?
  13. Make sure you're hooked up with cables that actually deliver HD: that would likely mean HDMI or component (3 cables) video.
  14. Tuesdays, proof is often hard to come by, but evidence isn't necessarily hard to find. Keep in mind that as long as the strength of the argument is proportional to the strength of the evidence, you're generally going to be on pretty solid ground.
  15. While the rules preclude using the image in your sig, your profile would be an excellent place for it. If you need some help, post a thread in the Issues forum and we'll give you a hand.
  16. I'm curious to see if Ned explained yesterday's move that brought in Guillermo Mota to face Chipper Jones. Bill Schroeder's initial explanation was, "Even though Chipper's stats favor him hitting left handed, you have to bring in your 8th inning guy to face him." IMO, that would suck. Later in the AB, Bill said something about Chipper's injury making it hard to push off properly when batting left handed. That explanation makes perfect sense.
  17. Posts centering around Ben's contract status have been moved to the "Sheets testing the market" thread.
  18. If the control gizmos read correctly, H0FFY had 1,591 Brewerfan posts and 2,186 total ezBoard posts.
  19. 7 dirty words AKA "The Milwaukee Seven"
  20. I'll file this as a bug for you. My gut says this is a Yuku issue rather than a computer issue, but that's just a stab in the dark. It's weird because I haven't been able to reproduce this; In addition to SeaMonkey, I've logged in via reply buttons in Safari 3.1.1, Firefox 2.0.0.14, Opera 9.50, and Camino 1.6.1. I also tried logging in with another profile. In the meantime, have you tried dumping both your cache and your cookies, exiting Firefox, then logging back in? You can dump these via the "Clear Private Data..." item in the Tools menu. Also, is it OK for a Yuku staff member to log into your account in case it helps him/her to reproduce this? They won't actually have your password; they use a master administrative password if they need to do that. You can say yes or no here; I'll link to this thread.
  21. Things worked properly for me in SeaMonkey 1.1.9 / OS X 10.5.2. What browser and operating system are you using? Do you have another browser available to test this? If so, what happens?
  22. The username duplication isn't a matter of case sensitivity. The newbie yount19 has a global (.u) profile. The oldbie Yount19 has a local (.brewersfandemonium) profile. In Yuku's eyes, these are totally different names. However, because Yuku drops the ".brewersfandemonium" on a local profile's "home" board, it all looks the same in our eyes. I've used Yuku's "replace usernames" script to tack ".u" onto our newer yount19. That solution is cosmetic; nothing more. And it only applies here at Brewerfan; it has no effect on how the name displays in yount19.u's profile or on any other Yuku board. Login procedures remain the same. And the small percentage of users who disable javascript won't see any difference.
  23. By the way, I didn't really no where this topic belongs, so I just threw it onto the major league page. I have no idea where it belongs, either. This forum is as good as any unless someone thinks of a better spot. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
