  1. I thought Braun was fine when it came to reporting on the game that actually occurred in front of him. Outside of that, he was pretty clueless, and he wasn't afraid to expose that cluelessness, either. My favorite was when he tried to answer questions in chat--even though had no clue how to answer them--rather than just skipping the question and choosing another.
  2. Another way to look at things is that with a typical complement of major league players, most lineup adjustments don't end up making much difference. Positive or negative effects tend to be very minor. In other words, I don't think there's much potential for harm being done by 'renting' the idea and giving it a test drive. I wonder how much the rest of the lineup should be changed, though. I bet you'd still find #3 coming to the plate with two out and nobody on more than anyone else and #4 leading off the second greatest number of innings, for instance. We need a stathead here to do the probabilities. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. The cleanup hitter should probably be the best hitter; he leads off more innings than anyone other than the leadoff hitter.
  4. Additionally, the #3 hitter comes to bat with two outs and nobody on base more often than anyone else. Simple illustration: the best lineup with four Babe Ruths and five Sandy Koufaxes will have Ruth hitting #1, #2, #4, and #5. The Koufaxes will hit #3, #6, #7, #8, and #9.
  5. You could insert Hall or Cameron into that sentence just as easily. I see logan3825 already inserted Hall's name. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Jim Powell called the concept stupid on WTMJ a couple nights ago. However, in fairness, it should be noted that this was mentioned as an aside without getting into the theory behind it. I feel good in suggesting that the #5 hitter should be better than the #3 hitter. As far as the pitcher batting #8, let's just say I have an open mind.
  6. Yeah, they're very much a horse apiece at this point. To start the season, I think I'd do Gross batting 3rd on the days he plays, then move Hardy to third vs. lefties. Gabe's platoon partner can replace J.J. in the seventh spot vs. lefties.
  7. I'd kind of hope that if Ned has read up on the idea of the ninth spot being a higher leverage spot than the eighth, he's also read up on the fifth spot being more important than the third. Using bullox's lineup as a base, I'd hit Fielder fourth and Hart fifth. I don't know who I'd bat third under a Braun-in-the-two-hole scenario, though.
  8. My only concern about this is that if Braun is pulled from the heart of the order, the fifth spot might not get the hitter it deserves. I love the idea of a good hitter batting second, though.
  9. Here's the link: Kendall hitting ninth? Possibly... I'm going to make this the lineup thread in the Designated Threads List.
  10. Here's the earlier thread: Flashback: Tony Gwynn Jr. ruins Padres season Rather than deleting, I'll leave this here for others who might have missed the first thread.
  11. I saw the thread and I don't think the logo on the other side of the link it contains is funny, either. I've hidden it from view. That'll give the mods a chance to look things over.
  12. If it means anything, Chris demonstrated both on his Young and the Restless appearance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. I want to change the line at the bottom of the board pages that says "Powered by KickApps, Inc." to "Powered by Russell Branyan". Unfortunately, that isn't possible.
  14. Chris was on the DL with a groin injury from June 14th to July 1st last year.
  15. When a manager talks about 'spring training competitions', I almost always hope he's lying.
  16. How about me? I'd rather see Carlos in the rotation, but I don't get too worked up about comments made by the GM or manager at the start of spring training. Things have a way of working themselves out.
  17. Either way, I didn't record a strike. Do try to avoid the random character thing, though.
  18. i still like his music even after he changed his name to #$@# or whatever Please note board language guidelines and preview your post when it's possible that you might be tangling with the cuss filter.
  19. There are three or four recent posts in this thread with ad hominem comments. Let's end it.
  20. The Grand Branyan Except for the fact that it could cause even more people to spell B-r-a-n-y-O-n, I like that name. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Does she yell at him for barking? I've heard that doesn't work well; the dog thinks you're joining him in the fun of making noise. I agree that the collar is probably the way to go.
  22. If a person cuts out meat, protein needs to be replaced. That's easy enough if one pays attention. Hopefully, Chanel and Prince are onto that.
