  1. Yeah, but twobrewers has excused us from worrying about that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I picked Suppan because I think he's likely to eat up more innings than Capuano or Bush.
  2. I don't know if you're implying that the situations are identical, but Minoso would have been playing in a championship season game. The 90s would have been his 6th decade, by the way, and Minnie would have been in his mid 60s.
  3. Starters: Sheets, Gallardo, Parra, Villanueva, Suppan Relievers: Gagne, Riske, Torres, Shouse, Capuano, Bush, Turnbow Runners-up: Mota, Vargas Note that I didn't necessarily rank-order the pitchers in each category.
  4. I think the whole point made in the lead post is that for the purposes of this thread, we should be constructing a pitching staff without worrying about innings limits, options, contract status, etc. It's not whether or not the Brewers should be doing this. It's simply giving us the opportunity. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. It's hard to tell from the small image... is Corey also batting cross handed?
  6. I've copied all the posts in this thread over to LambeauLeap. Has any NFL player won a championship at all 3 levels? Feel free to continue the discussion over there.
  7. This is excerpted from one of our recent membership applications. I've deleted the board and member name. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. off-color merchandise That can be taken two ways. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Anyway, I've seen pink Packer gear. I guess whatever happens to sell...
  9. The Brewers set their team record when three position players pitched on August 29, 1979. Sal Bando pitched three innings, and Jim Gantner and Buck Martinez each pitched one.
  10. I could tell that you weren't advocating the 2/3 lineup, so I wasn't challenging your post. I was reacting to the stuff you quoted. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. By the time you hit Braun #2 and Fielder #3, it's like turning Kendall into a leadoff hitter in any inning other than the first. Leaving one of these guys at #4 and putting a Cameron/Hall/Hardy/whatever would accomplish the extra AB thing and still allow for a leadoff/cleanup combo at #4. I can't say I'm disappointed with Fielder/Braun #3/#4 (or vice versa) because I wouldn't have expected Nedly or any other manager to catch on to the #3 research. I'd have been bummed at Braun/Fielder at #2/#3 (or vice versa). But I'd have been thrilled at trying the concept of Braun/Fielder at #2/#4 (or vice versa). Anyway, it appears that the concern at this point is #2. I don't want to see a weak bat there while Cameron is out.
  12. I'm willing to bet that high speed access reaches part of the nearby Amish community. No go here, though.
  13. Trent Durrington: April 17, 2004
  14. If Cameron wasn't signed and Hart was depended upon to play center, the Brewers wouldn't have the personnel to adequately man right field over the course of the season. Looking for a corner outfielder was an off season option, but those guys didn't seem to be available. I'm not saying one option or the other would have necessarily been better. The Brewers needed to do either/or, though. You keep Gwynn in the organization because he has an option left, has a skillset that can complement the current players on the roster, and if nothing else, can play center for the Sounds.
  15. We need the SLG pct. projections. I'm sure there'll be a very visible separation there.
  16. I think the line spacing thing might be fixed pending a push. There are so many duplicate threads in the bugs forum that's it's tough to figure out which one might answer the particular question I have in mind. What to you mean by "bouncing back and forth between post editors"? Is this something you're forced to do manually or is Yuku doing something on its own?
  17. I don't think pitch velocities are a secret, but they're certainly not conveniently available when message-boarders need them.
  18. Gross makes more solid contact, though, and when all is said and done, that's what better hitters do. I wouldn't be surprised it there was a bit of a reluctance to move Hart around. I'd rather take advantage of the fact that he can fill in in CF, though. Sometime in the future, we might need him there more than we do now.
  19. Another note: Lexmark printers don't ship with full ink cartridges. It's kind of a surprise when you suddenly need ink in a few days. And I concur with LouisEly about the copier function. It's great to bypass scanning software when all you need is printed copies. You don't even need to turn on your computer. Heck, my parents owned one of those things three years before they even owned a computer.
  20. That's kind of how I am, Logan. It doesn't matter a whole lot. In my account on my dad's computer, for instance, I just go with the browser defaults. The majority go to that browser's homepage, and that's handy because most of them will tell me if it's time to download an upgrade. At home, because I have dialup, it's important to have something that doesn't take a month to load. That's a big motivation behind keeping the self-designed page, even though it's a couple years obsolete. I pretty much need it for Safari; it defaults to apple.com, which is a long load, even on broadband. I use the personal page in Firefox, which is my primary browser, although its default (a customized Firefox Google page) would be fine under dialup. To open a new tab or window, I have prefs set to open a blank one.
  21. It's a page with mostly personal links that I whipped up myself and have stored on my hard drive. I don't have a Home button in my toolbar, though, so I hardly ever think to use the History menu item to go there.
  22. Lookie here! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Ned's stathead told him that over the course of the season, Tony would save 160-190 runs on defense.
  24. The fact that his OBP was over .400 after he came back up isn't "any indication"? Just to nitpick a bit, by itself, we'd have to send up a small sample alert. Combining it with anecdotal evidence (the injury and its prognosis), along with other stats (numbers when healthy), is what gives us an indication. I don't think anyone will even use BA in 10-20 years. It's worthless. Although I don't look at it a whole lot, BA still helps us characterize a hitter when it's used in conjunction with OBP and SLG. You can tell how much he walks and how well he hits for power. That's useful for putting together a lineup or for choosing a pinch hitter.
  25. It's a bit hard to fathom, but Deion also had a bit if a humble streak. He said his reason for playing baseball was that it was a challenge for him; he was far from the best. In contrast, football came easy.
