  1. There's gotta be a thread on this. Where's TC when you need him? I don't see this thread as specific to tonight's game. If it were, it wouldn't belong here. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. This site (listed in the Major League Forum FAQ) will get you close: Day By Day Batting Database. Here's its pitching counterpart: Day By Day Pitching Database. Coming close to what you need? Prince, first 849 AB Cecil, first 848 AB If you need to be at exactly 850 AB, look up box scores at a site like retrosheet.org and manually calculate, using the Prince and Cecil links as starting points.
  3. Although it seems counterintuitive, older pitchers are less subject to injury than younger ones. Very, very young pitchers are fragile, and organizations want to 'build them up' to a full season's worth of innings very carefully. Keep in mind that pulling this off becomes more complicated with the major league season being a month longer than the minor league season.
  4. If you use a ballpark figure of 100 innings for Yo, 16 starts times 6 innings = 96 innings. Brewer starters have about 19 starts apiece left. It looks like it might work, but I wouldn't depend on it.
  5. His daughter is graduating from high school.
  6. Welcome aboard, Jeff. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Dear Ron G: I don't think I've ever heard a major league manager ever refer to runs as 'points' before. --1992casey
  8. Piss isn't filtered. You may say it.
  9. I'm thinking it should have been Estrada covering third once Braun was out of position.
  10. Who should have been covering third?
  11. If you're in Windows XP or later, choose one of the top two links. Other OSes are also listed. Download Java software from Sun Microsystems
  12. I'll see if I can find a link, but you need to have Java installed to be able to run the chat applet.
  13. Copying from a locked thread? Aytumious: brettac1:
  14. Let's not and say we did. Cute, cuddly baby raccoons that sleep and purr in your lap turn into hard-to-control adults that may try to take your hand off. Making things worse, you can't release 'adopted' raccoons back into the wild because fear of humans is one of their main defenses. As far as the live traps, check out the animal shelters or park/forest services to see if they have traps you can borrow.
  15. brewerjamie15 asked this question in today's game thread. I drive myself crazy trying to find answers to questions like that. Is there a site that neatly consolidates MLB, NL, and AL records? The problem I run into while searching is that 'record' or 'records' brings up all kinds of W-L record stuff.
  16. That's exactly the type of tidbit that I was hoping to see a few of as this thread grows. Knowing when one site is better than another for a certain task is way useful. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The ESPN news wire looks good. I wonder if it provides the same stuff as ESPN's RSS feeds. Biz of Baseball looks like a great site. That reminds me? isn't there also a Business of Baseball site with CBAs and historical documents? I've poked around and it's not popping up now. Of course, fangraphs is a must.
  17. I'd like to see someone like Russ scrutinize it a bit to make sure it's not misleading, but we're definitely open to any suggestions for the Major League Forum FAQ.
  18. As you say, it's not the method to use, and this doesn't mean I advocate everything in it, but all in all, it's not a bizarre lineup.
  19. An easy way to get to the type of link Brian produced would be to use the Yahoo! Brewers Batting link above, click on player's name, then click on the splits link. Also note that you can get to other Jenkins 'stuff' with the links on top (situational stats, etc.). You can switch teams via a popup on the team pages. You can switch to other players on a particular team via popups on the player pages. You should try out the Day by Day Databases also listed above. You'll have a ball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Brian just contradicted himself. While a batting average graphic was showing, he said Prince was "better" this year vs. lefties (in comparison to righties). In the next sentence, he said Prince had 4 of his 24 homers vs. lefties.
  21. I thought it was AOL-speak. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Some have pointed out that locked threads can be too easy to gloss over, but I think the lineup thread is a good one to pin for a while. Yost's Last Stand looks like it's going to stand on its own for the time being, but I think it's a great thread to 'deposit' any general Yost discussion. By the way, I found the Prince thread I should have used Friday night. More on that when I have more time.
  23. Anyone remember 2003 when Ned didn't tinker with lineups at all? He's place any substitutes in the regular's slot, even if it meant a Brady Clark hitting cleanup. While that tack seemed OK in 2003, it didn't seem to work well at all in 2004, and it took him a bit to realize it. Over the long run and in most situations, I'd rather see the manager be flexible with the lineup.
  24. Brian did it. Also note the black 'mourning' background.
  25. I think the flaw is in comparing this team to 1982. I'd say that these comparisons are more apt:1978? the first season the team was good1980? the good team who needed tinkering before it could become 'good enough'1987? Team Streak Someone quoted Bobby once and I'd love to see the exact words. It was something to the effect of riding out slumps as long as he could, and when he finally decided a starter needed to be benched, he'd wait another two weeks.
