Peralta comes back, Jungmann goes...???
1992casey replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I don't necessarily advocate it, but Lohse in the bullpen would be an option if he isn't traded or released. -
Everyone is harping on his minor league stat lines too. He spent time in the Midwest League and Florida State League at 18.… That's why I went back to his last 1500 ABs (or so) in the minors (post 71). 1500 ABs is generally considered a good sample, and it gets rid of ancient history. What I didn't include was Hernán's Major League numbers during that time. That wasn't a conscious omission; I just didn't think to do it. The sample is small enough that it wouldn't change the math much, though. And since he was at a level that was likely over his head, it's probably just as well to exclude those numbers. At this point, it makes sense to play him at 3B. He's young and out of options, it's the spot where playing time is readily available, and it doesn't take playing time away from Segura and Gennett. It's premature to project him to play 3B regularly over the long term, though.

I found this article, dated about a year and a half ago. Why Facebook's Android App Wants to Read Your Text Messages I would think that there'd be a better way for Facebook to do this, even if it involves a bit more work on the part of the user. Even if messages supposedly aren't being shared, the fact that they can be accessed opens up a potential security hole.

For what it's worth, Hernán has an OPS of approximately .705 in the minors from 2012-2014 (1533 plate appearances). This includes a season at high A and all of his AA and AAA numbers. Winter ball stats are omitted; I would think that those should be considered more like spring training stats. His AA and AAA numbers are a little better: a .747 OPS over 384 PA in AA (2013) and a .731 OPS over 670 PA in AAA (2013–14). I'd like to lean toward those numbers, but the sample size is probably a little small at this point.
-
Given Hernán's sporadic major league history, you really have to go back to his minor league stats to get your sample. I don't see enough offense to consider him a full time third baseman, although, like Craig Counsell, I'd be fine with him filling in for an extended period at third if it were to become necessary. His offense would seem to be a fit for second base or as a very good utility player who sees a lot of playing time.

But... I do believe I have evidence that FB is searching your phone and text messages... because the settings of the app say that they can. Well it appears to me that you've found some pretty clear evidence. Android allows pretty deep access to the operating system by users and developers. So I guess it's not surprising that Facebook is able to get to this stuff. I recall Facebook coming out with an app a few years ago that they characterized as much more cool on Android vs. its counterpart for Apple devices. The reason for the coolness, of course, would have been the level of OS access that Android allows. I also recall reading that on Android devices, Google has access to the user's phone log, although I can't find anything recent that confirms that. If it's true that Google can access phone logs, it wouldn't be surprising that other apps could.

It's understandable that there are differences. Many rules that pretty much set in stone. But we also have to deal with: Rules that provide for two options, e.g. the serial comma. Rules that differ between US and British English. We see so much of both brands of English these days that it's possible to forget which rule we need to apply. Rules that are in a state of flux. For example, "all together" and "altogether" are both acceptable today, but "all together" would have been required 75 years ago. However, "all right" should be still be chosen over "alright" in all but informal usage. Situations that aren't covered by grammar at all (such as book and article titles, footnotes and bibliography entries, etc.). Additionally, different manuals are provided for different purposes. MLA is geared toward research papers and the AP manual is geared toward newspapers. Chicago is considered to be general purpose, but it's so comprehensive that it can be harder to use. By the way, I did find out that Spanish has a very clear rule stating that the first letter of a sentence is always capitalized. That clarification is probably necessary because so many words that are capitalized in English are written in lowercase in Spanish.

I like the first name idea. In the context of our game threads, we can probably use the first name and skip the surname. Yeah, starting a sentence with a lowercase letter definitely qualifies as weird, although it can likely be justified in this case, just like capitalizing the name can be justified. I believe the Chicago Manual of Style says to capitalize; that's good enough for me.
