  2. I've heard from more than one source that TLB is a great tailgate host.
  3. It's time to let this topic die a peaceful death. I don't think the occasional brushes with politics have been a problem, but it does seem that we've run out of things to say about this issue. If something new about metal detectors comes up, we can start a new thread.
  4. So far this post-season has been incredible. Yeah, three extra inning games so far. And technically, even though the wrong team won, last night's Cards-Dodgers game was great too. The only real downside for me is that in the NL, the Nationals are the only team that I'd like to see advance. I guess I have to root for the Dodgers by default. On the other hand, I'd be fine with any of the AL teams. As a side note, it sure is pleasant to watch games without that obnoxious news ticker at the bottom of the screen.
  5. It's a tough call for some of these signings as common sense arguments can be made for locating discussion in either forum. That's why, as Mass Haas says, there's no formal protocol. When there are two essentially similar threads, a moderator might try to condense discussion into a single topic. How that's accomplished would be a judgement call on the part of the individual moderator. If discussion is locked, moved, or merged, members shouldn't feel like they did anything "wrong." It's just a matter of directing traffic.
  6. I've used three checks in the last 19 months. In one case, I was required to provide a voided check to set up transfers with an account elsewhere. I have about two checks left, but I don't know where they are, so I'll need to address that.
  7. I've moved some posts about this year's post-season in-game thread setup over to Issues. That'll make it easier for others to chime in and for moderators to review next year.
  8. Discussion about individual games goes into in-game threads. If an event in a game has implications beyond a single game (e.g. an incident that could result in a suspension), it's appropriate to start a separate topic. The plan for this year is to have single topics for each "level" of the post-season, i.e. a total of four post-season game threads. It's really tough to gauge participation ahead of time, but it does seem that post-season IGT participation has been down in recent years. If this doesn't work out, we'll try something else next year.
  9. When I left a store today, the greeter told me to have a nice day. Then he followed up by saying exactly the same thing in Spanish. That was both redundant and funny.
  10. BTW, the start time has been moved up 2 hours on Friday. (I think) I'm still seeing 6:30 ET / 5:30 CT on the various web sites. Any updates that anyone can offer are appreciated, of course.
  11. A Royals @ Orioles ALCS would be awesome. Even though the Royals and Orioles have never faced each other in the ALCS, it'd still be a throwback to the 1970s and 1980s when both franchises perennially fielded good teams. Kansas City Royals Postseason Results Baltimore Orioles Postseason Results The Orioles' results omit their 1944 World Series appearance as the St. Louis Browns.

  13. I have trouble listening to Tim Kurkjian without thinking of Tim Dillard.
  14. That game was a Brewerfan.net outing.
  15. Somebody edited Brandon Finnegan's Wikipedia page a bit ahead of time. It says, "He got his first playoff win in the 2014 Wild Card game against the Oakland Athletics." It'll be interesting to see how long that sticks. EDIT: It's been removed.
  16. 35up and 5down (or vice-versa?) I can't comment at all on the phone, but it's definitely vice versa.
  17. Thanks for offering this again this year.
  18. Next year will be Bob's 60th year in baseball. I wonder if that warrants a new sign. I'd rather not use a number at all, but given that I can't think of anything else, 70 sounds good and makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised if the team considered alternatives to using a number but couldn't think of anything either.
  19. Rickie Weeks didn't want farewell appearance
