  1. The mesothelioma ones too. Ive been in EMS for almost 10 years and have yet to come across anyone with that diagnosis yet What bugs me is the mesothelioma commercial where "asbestos" is mispronounced several times. At other times, it's pronounced correctly. The "s" in the first syllable can be pronounced as either an "s" or a "z," but it has to be pronounced. Several times during the commercial, the word is pronounced "ah-bes-tos." Just as bad is the fact that the word is pronounced two different ways. When you do a commercial, you need to pick one (correct) pronunciation and go with it.
  2. The commercial that opens with the question "Have you or a loved one been hospitalized or died?"
  3. The late date of the move is why the team's colors became blue and gold (inherited from the Pilots) rather than the planned red and navy like the Brewers of old. There was no time to order new uniforms. Seamstresses removed all Pilots identification and replaced it with Brewers stuff. The Braves also came to Milwaukee at a late date. Their move was announced on March 13th, and it caused the American Association Brewers to move to Toledo.
  4. Forum is cool. So is Genesis, which is just up the street at Hwy 100 and Beloit Road. They're both packed on Sundays after church services, but they're generally easy to get into at other times. They're both good for families, although kids wouldn't classify either of these restaurants as entertainment.
  5. The moderators communicated briefly about donations. We don't currently have an easy means to be able to collect money. Our thought was that if members wanted to make individual donations and identify themselves with Brewerfan, they could mention the site in the space provided to leave a note.
  6. This is very sad. Chad was a valuable contributor to this board and will certainly be missed here at Brewerfan. I'm sure the same will be felt by those who are part of the Milwaukee music scene. My condolences to his friends and family.
  7. Thanks for the reports. While I like Tapatalk, the site needs to work in mobile web browsers too. Most people spend some time using a web browser before opting for Tapatalk. But it also works the other way around as Tapatalk has brought in several members. Google is starting to penalize sites' rankings if they don't meet certain mobile requirements, so some changes were made recently. There's a good chance that one of them backfired. We'll look into it. For what it's worth, things look OK on my iPad. Is anyone having issues viewing the site on tablets? If anyone is able to post a screen capture, that would be helpful.
  8. That's the whole thing. If we were going to hear Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash, it'd be a whole lot different than listening to the stuff they've been calling "Country" over the past couple of decades.
  9. Costco is also in Grafton, but the issue remains the same.
  10. I believe they're done if there's reason to implement them, such as a player having gotten into trouble to the law.
  11. I've never heard of that channel, but that doesn't mean I don't have it.
  12. I think the complaints have been going on for a couple of decades. As Patrick425 points out, the real comparison is to games from 30 years ago. The relevance of the past few years is that things have continued to get worse. Football is also too long. The Packer game on the Sunday after the Kennedy assassination wasn't televised. I recall reading that it was done in two hours and ten minutes.
  13. Yeah, a few weeks of spring training to get accustomed to a new position would make a difference.
  14. Subject: What's bugging you? (2014) I was thinking of the businesses that I wanted to get around to reviewing on Yelp, and this came to mind. This would certainly stand out if people were picking a company to do business with. I'm surprised that the suggestion didn't come up when we were discussing this situation last summer. There's still time to add the review. If you haven't used Yelp before, it may pay to add a few positive reviews for companies you've had good experiences with. That lends more credibility to your negative reviews.
  15. I don't mind the parking prices, but it's a mild inconvenience that it's now going to be a bit harder to have the correct change ready at the gate and that it'll be a little harder for the attendants to make change. As an aside on parking, if you need to use an ADA (disability) spot, make sure to buy the cheapest parking available. All tickets are good, so you may as well not overspend.
  16. New thread for a new year: Fantasy Baseball 2015
  17. No, I have zero knowledge or experience outside of a general awareness of the options. If I needed to do this, I'd think in terms of the free option (Virtualbox) unless I could get one of the paid apps at a substantial discount.
  18. You could run virtualization software. It wouldn't be quite as fast as Boot Camp, but that might not matter with the apps that you'd like to run. An advantage to virtualization is that you'd be able to access your Windows apps without rebooting. http://lifehacker.com/5861391/the-best-virtualization-app-for-mac-os-x
  19. Ted Simmons went through almost all of the 1982 season without speaking to the media. I don't think anyone really cared.
  20. I'm bugged by restaurant menu signage with print so small that it isn't readable until getting to the spot where you place your order. That wastes my time, the cashier's time, and the time of people in line behind me. A couple places have menus that are so bad that they're not even readable once you get to the counter. At Noodles, I've been handed printed menus at the order window. Yesterday at Starbucks, I had to have parts of the menu read to me. Bigger print and something other than medium gray text on a slightly darker gray background would help immensely.
  21. The amazing thing is that doctors still rely on fax. And one time, when I forgot to print out a medication list, I had to send a PDF from my iPad to the receptionist's personal e-mail address so she could give the doctor a printed copy.
  22. I went through the zipper today. I was surprised that it was as backed up as much it was on a Sunday in the early afternoon. A few people merged early, and that was enough to make it worse than it had to be. When the signs say "Stay in your lane" and "Don't merge," drivers should stay in their lanes and not merge. Merge where it says "merge here." This probably wouldn't happen on a weekday, but today, the left lane was underutilized. It would have been better had traffic been spread out evenly.
