  1. Thought that was an earlier hit, not the hit that drove in the runs....
  2. I dislike Ken Macha for two reasons: not protecting players (in the media and on the field) and for his handling of our starting pitching. No way guys should be throwing as many pitches as they are. The bullpen is gassed? Get rid of Soup and Vargas, and get guys in there who can be optioned up and down. Leaving guys out for 120-130 isn't the answer, no matter what the bullpen looks like.
  3. 4-6 in person. I'm proud to say I've seen all the home wins, but then is that really a good thing? :P
  4. It's gonna be pretty hard to find GM that meets your criteria (sub .500 ball). Maybe the Red Sox agree with you, will fire Theo, and we can hire him. Who should be GM of this team? Until there's a better option, I think you stick with Melvin. And I'm not counting on the Terry Ryan pipedream, personally. For all of the "sky is falling talk" on this board, at least this team has talent and could turn things around. The Brewers had almost zero when Melvin got here. Weeks, Braun, Fielder, McGehee, Escobar, Gallardo....the pre-Melvin Brewers would have killed for any of these guys in the lineup. Not to mention the farm system. Call it mediocre now. It was a wasteland then. Maybe Melvin isn't the long-term solution, but he was far from a failure.
  5. I almost choked on my dessert when I read that the "Melvin era was generally a failure." Do people remember what baseball was like here before DM? The guy has made some mistakes, but until I see us losing 100 games or throwing John Vander Wal out in the clean-up spot, I will consider quotes like the one above to be totally wrong-headed.
  6. What happened? I was listening to the game until the top of the seventh, come to hop on here and we are getting destroyed. Almost did a double take when I saw the score. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Wow. Hope that DD is okay. Didn't he have serious medical problems while in Arizona? Cancer? Not saying that's what the problem is, but I certainly hope that all is well with Sharpie.
  8. Several of those pitchers were acquired in trades, and not drafted by the teams you mention.
  9. ....and here come the pretzels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-lu816sfkc
  10. I'm afraid it's time for Soup. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  11. Joepepsi, you can have Ken Macha. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who thinks that 130 pitches is a good idea.
  12. Markedman, that holds no water with me. His pitch count was high enough prior to the inning started for it to be a bad idea. What's more important, winning this game, or not having Narveson's arm fall off?
  13. Why in the heck was Narvy allowed to throw 130 pitches right there? Please don't say bullpen.
  14. ask and ye shall receive. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Yes. I was at the game, standing behind section 118, and most of the changeups bounced up there....most maybe 6" to a foot short. Seemed that some didn't bounce, but he was definitely still off command-wise. On the bright side, it seemed he was finally willing to go to the changeup.
  16. I have a hard time believing that anyone would not take the deal Soup took. I'm also sure he wishes he was performing better and "justifying the money he makes." Do people believe that he signed the deal thinking, "I am a terrible pitcher, and will earn almost none of this money?" I'm not a Suppan fan, and that contract has been brutal for some time, but come on. He's just a guy making more than he's worth, and he's certainly not the first nor the last.
