  1. Just because people used to do something, doesn't mean it was a good idea. 60 or so pitches is a lot, and there is a reason players aren't usually asked to do it. Pitching is an unnatural action, and Dusty's track record is suspect to say the least. Good thing for the Giants that he wasn't around to break Lincecum and Bumgarner.
  2. Agreed, Russ. I also agree with others who argue that I'd way rather do this deal than what we've done lately in FA.
  3. I would much rather see the Brewers give Weeks 10-13 AAV than another contract to a guy like Suppan, or even Wolf. Isn't this the organization that gave Bill Hall like 36 million? You always pay a premium in FA, unless a guy is coming off a terrible year(s) or is a huge injury risk. Say we do pay Rickie as a premium 2B...that is still a relatively small amount when compared to premiums at other positions. This deal should have been worked out prior to LAST season, imo.
  4. Why would Yo get bumped out of all of those? I agree with others that the Brewers' brass needs to consult a blog or two to get a better pulse on fan interest. It almost seems like the bobbles are awarded to most questionable Brewer contracts. Maybe next year we get the Jose K and Wes Helms bobbles. "See, he's not bad....we made a bobble of him!" Also, I still want the Axford with the combable mustache.
  5. I don't think they should cut down...just do a better job of picking bobbles. I liked the C.C. last year. Also, many former players would be great, as mentioned. Higuera would be great. Cerveceros Day? They need to think outside the box a bit. The Braun fist-pump bobble was cool. So was the Fielder with the crown. Why would we want a Wolf bobble? If we're doing a Wolf, we might as well do a LaTroy Hawkins. Seriously, are there any fans out there who really want a bobble of this guy?
  6. Sounds pretty weak. We do a lot of crappy bobbles, like the Suppan, Kendall, and don't get me started on last year's Beer Man. I'd rather have a Duff Man bobble than that piece of garbage. Wolf? Who out there is clamoring for a Randy Wolf bobble? YoGa is WAAAAAY overdue. Counsell, I get. Axford with a brushable mustache....sounds good....but Wolf? Maybe we should just do Cecil Cooper and Robin Yount again....Ugh.
  7. I agree, Jim H5. I think the NYCE Club is what baseball would be like from a far-away hermetically sealed room. And maybe it's cuz I'm poor, but I don't get the expensive food/drink at the stadium thing. I like to keep it to dogs/sausages, peanuts and nachos, all enjoyed from where I can actually hear the crack of the bat, rather than just watch it on tv.
  8. I can't wait to see it live. Photos never do something this big justice. *Excitedly unable to control self, ala Steve Carell* "That's what she said! That's what she said!"
  9. Anyone looking for a newspaper ad must not have been at the "last straw" game, where seemingly all of Milwaukee booed him off the field and out of town. That's as brutal as I've ever heard a home-town crowd treat a player.
  10. I'd say Craigslist, but also Amazon. Some of them might be worth more than you think. May be more hassle than you want. Just a thought.
  11. Hey Chris, friend of Larry Baldassaro here. I know you were one of his favorite all-time Brewers, coming from the same place and all. Apart from that, he would share some stories and insights about you that he picked up being around the team, and a portrait of you emerged in my mind as a fiercely intelligent, hard-working, all-around great guy. It was always easy to root for you, especially as you worked your way back from not one, but two Tommy-Johns. Somehow, I always knew you'd make it back, because you would rehab harder than anyone else, and you could flat-out pitch. Very sorry to see you moving on from the Brewers, but I know that you will land on your feet, and I am eager to follow your continued success. I'll miss watching you pitch for the Crew, and I know Larry will too. Best wishes, Phil.
  12. How do we not have a full-size Craig Counsell bobblehead, yet we have Jeff Suppan and Jason Kendall? Get it done, DM! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (And maybe a Greinke, Marcum, and YoGa, while you're at it)
  13. Doesn't seem to fit the team's stated plans for more pop off the bench.
  14. Wouldn't we be likely to get comp picks for Marcum and Garza once they leave, which we could use to replenish the farm?
  15. Lame, isn't it? Wonder what Friedman could do with the Yanks?
  16. All that we're saying is that some of our guys would likely have significantly worse numbers had they faced the Yankees, BoSox, etc more times, essentially comparing apples to oranges, in terms of pitchers.
  17. Yeah, I don't like it either, but more because of the third year, and loss of pick. Two years would be a reasonable gamble, as many others have already stated.
  18. The Crew is not talking about wins...he means how it would help with his other numbers, like ERA, WHIP, etc.
  19. I agree. People discount the impact of those factors when they say we have six years of these young guys. Especially if we are in "win now" mode.
  20. I also enjoyed listening to Ron. Especially when he'd kid around with Pat about his "gamer." (The high quality toupee for ballgames) Not a great announcer by any conventional means, but Ronnie always entertained. Made listening to games FUN, and I think there is something to be said for that. He will be missed in my home. As for the Hall, I think he should make and will eventually. Unfortunately, he won't be around to see it.
  21. Last year, we got one of the upgrades from our ticket rep, and she said if I mailed it directly to her she could give me a better upgrade than the one listed on the voucher. In the end, she upgraded our Terrace box tickets to seats 15 rows behind the visiting dugout. Not saying this would happen again this season, but it was definitely a nice upgrade for us. We don't spend too much time down in that area of the park.
  22. I have two Terrace Box Seats for sale for 9/25. Section 431 Row 1 Seats 11-12. $20 for the pair. Face value is $21 each. Catch the last Saturday game of the year! PM me if interested. Will meet in the Wauwatosa area.
