  1. I agree, but the team can't stand pat. We just don't have the luxury of doing that without throwing in the towel on 2010. And if it is 3/25, you have to figure that 8m per year doesn't get much on the FA pitching market.
  2. As upset as many of us already are, how angry will we be if the Brewers merely sign two guys like Davis and Washburn with the money we are "freeing up?" I think you offer arby, not just for the potential pick. Counsell may be gone. We don't really know what we have in McGahee, and as for the Weeks situation, I think production worries should take a back seat to injury worries. How likely is he to make it through a full season? I am, and have always been a DM supporter, but if we wind up signing two back of the rotation innings eaters with the cash we've "saved," he will have some explaining to do.
  3. Well, they must feel pretty good about what Rickie Weeks is gonna be able to do this year.
  4. This award isn't really worth getting worked up about, IMO. Nobody can even agree on what it means. Besides that, writers use it to spotlight hometown players, who really shouldn't even be in the conversation. Chris Coghlan, we're looking in your direction. Even the clown that voted DLee second. You can't tell me that he wouldn't have rather had Prince last year. I'd like to see him write an article defending that. I think the voting should be made public next year, and it should be put to a vote which BBWAA to vote off the island.
  5. Oh the humanity.
  6. I agree that it's too early to label Gomez, but Melvin's comments about speed taking longer to develop reminded me too much of the Dave Krynzel situation.
  7. No love for Stormy, huh? He pitched well for the Brewers when all we had to look forward to was good relief pitching. It's too bad he was brought back, but I mostly remember his time as a Brewer fondly.
  8. I heard they made him mascot...what was their mascot's name again...oh yeah, scapegoat.
  9. I think that's true as well, but to say he was "satisfied," I think is not quite accurate. I think he was hoping against hope that the those guys would hold up, much in the same way someone with an old clunker of a car figures on getting one more year out of it. Melvin was obviously behind the eight ball in terms of acquiring pitching, and will continue to be, but I doubt, and sincerely hope that he didn't really think the guys here would get it done eight or nine times out of ten.
  10. As someone ignorant of how arbitration works, why would offering Kendall arby be so bad? What kind of salary would he be likely to get? Also, I'd gladly take another year of Cam, Lopez, and Hoffman.
  11. I agree with hawing that I didn't think CV did that badly. Based purely on anecdotal evidence, I think he pitched better than the outcome suggested. Although, that ball Adam Dunn hit may still be in orbit. I wouldn't mind seeing him go again as opposed to some of our other options. Maybe it will help him find somewhat of a groove.
  12. I am holding out hope that someone will put together a highlight reel of tonight's game set to humorous music, like Keystone Cops type stuff or something.
  13. You gotta expect some negativity in giving up two grannies to a mediocre player on a terrible team, no?
  14. "Don't go anywhere, folks. This could be one of those wild ones." Leave it to the Ueck to try and sell a pile of crap as fertilizer.
  15. No kidding. I actually switched tickets from tonight to tomorrow for some friends. That is looking like a BIG mistake.
  16. Except for the curly tail. That can really put a crimp in your day.
  17. Could you get a pair for Social D? I might be able to find something to trade you, or throw some cash your way.
  18. Is there any way to hear it for those of us who couldn't get near a radio earlier? Answered my own question. You can find this at the link above. Nice work, Brian!
