  1. Well I'd have to say your an unpatriotic jerk for buying a foreign car to begin with, but hey I just grew up during the 80's so what do I know?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Sure looks like we got taken to the cleaners by Murray. Getting well above slot money for what many considered a reach pick? Still there's plenty of evidence for those that aren't convinced that the Brewers haven't been going cheap on the draft for quite awhile now.
  3. And so the slide into prospect oblivion continues for Cristian. Well here's to hoping that DJ and Kade can keep on stinging the ball. Is this kind of like the Yankees making a deadline deal for the best catcher and RF on the market. With JJ's return is it premature to say Huntsville has things almost locked up in the first half?
  4. Well atleast Krynzel is doing better than Chad Green http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif . I think David is going to spend the rest of the year at AA, and all of next year at AAA. He probably stands to benefit the most from having Melvin as GM instead of Dean. He got rushed at the beginning of his career and has been struggling to catch up ever since in my opinion. It was the catastrophic advancement that hit Hall, but I think it was close. Keeping in mind even with taking two more years he has made steady progress through the system. And it's possible that things could start clicking for him really well sometime this season and he could move things up a half season, but to this point Krynzel has needed time to make adjustments and refine his game at every level. No need to promote him and make him look like the second coming of Sanchez. On the flip side if Hardy gets back to form in a week or so, it's hard to argue he's anything but ready for the show.
  5. Couple of thoughts. After a great start last April Hall fell off a cliff into the depths of the Earth as we all know, if he intends to do the opposite this year I'd be darn happy with that. Do we all remember Joe Lawerence, number 2398 on the list of catchers we brought in? Well he got off to a great start in Indy then seemingly nosedived with everyone else at the plate hitting a meager .223. Well while I was checking on Hall's stats I noticed Joe has an OPS over .860. So I looked deeper he has hit rather well for much of his minor league career though he's had trouble staying healthy recently. BP was hammering on the Brewers for keeping him behind the plate and not continuing with a position switch. I'm not sure his bat is that good that he's worth moving, but he's a secondary average guru with a good eye and respectable power. So I looked up his minor league EQA equivalnecy. It translates into a whole .223 major league EQA or about what Perez has done so far and 50 points better than Osik. I think he's a legitimate call-up as a back-up catcher who can be a little more versatile to keep him healthy and all.
  6. Quite the box score delights today, Wes Helms walks 3 times, Prince hits a triple, 7RBIs for Hart and a perfect organizational record wooo!
  7. Wow that is a surprise, I see no baseball reason for him to have retired. Hopefully we see him back soon.
  8. Nice to see Prince get it turned on again after a small dip in the road. Is it just me or has Huntsville had trouble scoring runs since Hardy went down? That'll happen when you lose a 1.000 OPS guy I suppose
  9. Umm Jim you seem to have forgotten/ misread the article Scott Moore is the Whitecap third basemen
  10. While the record maybe similar atleast High Desert has more reasons to watch generally. I think our depth is going to be pretty good next year though. Between the draft and the cadre of players in extended spring I think next years Beloit team will be pretty good again. While the Beloit talent diffuses into A+ and AA for next year. I'm not sure if will have any team quite as stacked as Huntsville was this year, but given that the prospects will progress at different rates I think the talent won't be as unevenly distributed next year. I also wonder to if HD is just a place that's hard to win at like Coors.
  11. There certainly isn't much in the way of logical moves to make things work. Derek Lee really deserves more os a shot at AAA if Ruben gets called up. Option down Nance and your maybe only 1 pitcher short, but I don't know where you get the position players from. Maybe Ryan Knox? Spurring a promotion of Clark to Huntsville has some sort of logic, but at mimimum you'd have to expect them to sign one street free agent to fill the voids in Indy.
  12. Just like to give a little notice to super Mario Mendez who as I recall Toby touted quite a bit after seeing him in spring. He's off to a pretty good start at Beloit OPS comfortably over .900 good batting average. His strikeout to walk ratio could be improved, but since he hasn't been mentioned yet this year I thought he deserved a little love from Brewerfan
  13. Useless reminder: KC also had the other Jeff D'amico in the minors at one point. Seems liek a good set-up to me that get the minor league veteran name doubles and we get the prospects.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I want to believe in the power of DJ, but it's hard to know how many of those HRs are real. He's always had the discipline and a respectable average, but how much power he has will ultimately determine where he goes as a corner man. I wouldn't say that Knox is scuffling, merely not showing anything to warrant him being promoted above AA. From what I've seen he's been doing a lot of those little things and has been an asset to Huntsville, but he'd definitely go into the 4th OF category while Guerrero continues to get his last chance most likely.
  15. Reliever prospects are about as risky as it gets, but while the K rate catches your eye his HR rate is really low too. If he can refine his control even a little he could easily make it. Call me crazy but on a different day I could have seen him as a rule V pick.
  16. I like the idea because by and large good relievers are failed starters with good stuff. Not everyone can make the transition, but it's better than seeing if he can magically workout as a starter after so many failed attempts in the big leagues. And as long as we can cheaply generate quality relievers we have something of an edge on other teams.
  17. Well Nelson's injury maybe threw a bit of a wrench into the works. With Brad around not only did you have more firepower to help offset any losses of other guys but it was really almost a situation where someone needed to go so all of these guys could get ABs in. Gemoll really hasn't done anything all that great so far, he's been serviceable. In another era he might have been comparable to Kevin Barker. It's hard to think Clark is going to learn anything hiting .440 in the best hitters park on the planet at his age. Johnson also could move up and the advantage there is that it frees up more catcher time for Foster. I think both players warrant promotion before the All-star break, which if they can hit at all close to what they have been after park and level adjustments would just be sick and wrong for the Stars.
  18. Holy cow they moved Wright to the pen permanently. That should have happened what 2 years ago? Still it's nice to see, and I'd think Jamey has a pretty good shot at becoming a better than average reliever. Maybe even a straight closer type in the Dejean Wickman mold of getting the Ks and groundballs but walking a few more men than you'd like.
  19. Oddly enough I agree with Clancy why talk about making Martinez a reliever until he has demonstrated he can't hack it as a starter. That may be the case with his high BB rate that he has difficulty going deep, but he might make some more strides yet. Billy Wagner is nice, but RJ is better. And of course let's see if he can actually keep this up for awhile, and keep in mind he's a AA repeater and he's never really shown this type of control and K rate before. I looked at his stats from last year and I think he might have had some shaky D last year that jacked his hit totals up a bit and this year he's also gotten some luck with only allowing those 5 hits.
  20. It sure seems hard to argue that the Brewers sent any of the wrong people down to AAA. I sure hope they can get something going otherwise that team is going to be worse then last years Brewers. On the other hand HD seems to be rather surprising. Not a great team, but exciting. I agree on the wow for Wilhelmsen 10Ks in 6 innings and no walks is great at any level. And it's sure amazing how quickly those BA's from Hart and Krynzel have turned around
  21. I sense the rumblings of movement on the Power 50. Does Toby have a rule about being Pipped from the top spot?
  22. Alright I've held off, but Hardy's over 60 PAs now and the comparisons need to be made. I think anyone, even David and Al teaming together threatening to call me Harold and beat me with large sticks with sample size engraved on them, would have to agree that the strength we heard JJ say he put on is real. I offer to you JJ's HR total from HD last year 6, he's gotten halfway there so far this year in 1/6 the ABs. Last year in almost 3 times the ABs at Huntsville he only had 1 HR. It gets better though. Using the 1:3 and 1:6 ratios let's compare his strikeout totals. HD- 38 vs. this year on pace for only 42. Huntsville rates are 19 vs. 21. So it would seem that he's added the power without adding any K's so far, rather impressive. And to boot he's walking about 3 times as often this year too. I can't imagine JJ will continue to post a 1.000 OPS in the Southern league, but I'm guessing the Brewers would have been excited by an .850 *** Note to Brian when I went to the AA link and tried to get to the stats it kept taking me to the 2002 team totals, 2003 exists the link just seemed to be not working.
  23. I'm going to sort of agree with Al on this one, not meaning disrespect to anyone. Brad gets hit on the wrist it hurts, he's a man and does his best to down play the pain. Otherwise why the nearly week delay in getting the Xray? The unfortunate thing is that wrist injuries seem to have become a sort of hitters bane in recent years, so we should probably take it slow and even anticipate that Brad may struggle a bit when he returns.
  24. How about that K rate from Martinez and keeping the K/BB ratio over 2. This is just fun to watch. Is it just me or does Beloit remind you of the Giants? A pretty good staff and an offensive driven by a monster and a number of other alright players. Undoubtedly they would struggle to score runs without Prince mostly because I'm not sure how many of them could hit 5 HRs in a year
  25. Well if you put it that way
