Rewatching the last 3 by Ashby. 1. Thank you for giving us a free out on the bunt in the 7th. I get the thinking, but after seeing Pages tee it up, I would not have been so quick there. 2. It's WILD that they pitched to Ohtani. It makes sense given how things have been going for him, but at any other point in his career? You're absolutely putting him on and setting up the DP with Betts. 3. Even rewatching now, I still am expecting that Tucker gets Smith in. 4. HOW DOES MURPHY NOT BRING IN MEGILL? Look, I'm a guy that literally texted my dad "maybe you stick with Peralta here?" before they brought in Williams vs the Mets but my goodness I was fully expecting that to backfire. 5. Both those defensive plays in the 9th were far more difficult that they made them look. In a parallel universe both those get down and lead to a comeback. For as effective as he was, there were balls that were absolutely SMOKED by the Dodgers those last 3 innings. -
I still cannot believe that outing by Ashby. Maybe the most tense 3 innings I’ve experienced.

As much as I want to believe, I just don’t trust this offense will be able to do enough. Too many holes and unless the staff is nearly perfect I just can’t imagine more than 1 win. I’ll say LA in 5. Hope I’m wrong and this post is mocked for years.

I've watched that highlight approximately 17,284 times since the game ended. It really cannot be overstated how massive that win is.

I don't see how his performance today means anything WRT his starting in the Post Season. Who else would you possibly put ahead of him if he has a less than good outing?

Being pedantic guy - Molitor was SS in his one year in minors, and then did start at SS the first month of his rookie year as Yount was holding out in 78. I also always forget the Molitor as an OF experiment of 1981... -

I gotta say that as we trot out yet another pitcher, I’d have considered just letting Harrison suck it up for 4-5 innings. Give up 30 runs. Who cares. Burning out the bullpen for this is just so shortsighted.
