  1. The move gives the Brewers 10 days to trade Balfour, release him or have him accept a minor league assignment but it won't take nearly that long for something to happen. General manager Doug Melvin said he had a trade in the works involving Balfour that could be completed before the night is over. Balfour involved in a trade? This HAS to involve another player in addition to Balfour because I highly doubt the Brewers will settle with just a low level "prospect" at this point. "We're in a pennant race and everything counts," said Melvin. "He understood that." You all think that this could be the tip of the iceberg?
  2. Some military man burned down a guy's trailer for calling him a "nerd" online. What the heck is going on with this picture? Nerd taunt drove Navy man to arson
  3. Believe me, I tried facebook and myspace and no dice.
  4. The only contact info I have of her is a cell phone number from a couple years ago that she wrote in my notebook. I don't even know if it works anymore and I could rummage through all of my college notebooks to try to find the thing.
  5. Howdy all. I have a question for you all. I had a "lady friend" who I went to UW-Whitewater with and she and I got along great in class and even hung out at the bars and I can not stop thinking about her, even when it has been 2 years since she broke off her engagement with her cheating fiance. It has been a couple years since I last seen her or talked to her, is it a good idea to try to track her down? I know this seems like a "Dear Abbey" type of post, but it seems like she could have been the one that got away.
  6. Phillips says we need a centerfielder? Who is even out there for us to acquire? We have no realistic shot at Griffey and there is no one else available.

  8. This may have been answered already, but does this deal mean Balfour goes to AAA?
  9. Believe it or not, most UW college towns have hidden drug problems that police try to cover up in order to make their cities "look appealing" to new students. When I started at UW-Whitewater, I knew people who took ecstasy and then towards the end it became cocaine. Two bars were shut down in Whitewater for cocaine trafficking. And there wasn't a single house party where I didn't see someone making a "transaction."
  10. http://www.impawards.com/1994/posters/dumb_and_dumber_ver1.jpg - Ned Yost was inspired by this movie
  11. I am feeling the following moods right now about the Brewers: http://safe.cpb.or.kr/textdata/HOMEPAGE/200307/0300019/Angry%20Man%2012.jpg http://www.lindamoran.net/images/sad.jpg (image width --1992)
  12. http://www.leeds.ac.uk/lsmp/healthadvice/depression2/depressed.jpg A Brewer fan, sitting here, is shown pondering what the rest of the season will be like for the Brewers. The fan, named Marcus Tidwell of Milwaukee, feels depressed over the Brewers' future.

  14. Maybe we need another pitcher to throw us another no-hitter for us to wake up again. The whole team is asleep in the vehicle and Yost just crashed the car. Dang it!
  15. Now they are comparing Linebrink to a suped up Spurling? I don't whether to be impressed or skeptical on that statement.
  16. I may be Captain Obvious when I state this: Our bullpen has been WAAAAY overworked. The majority of our starters can't even last past the sixth inning.
  17. Wow, are we really getting a two-out rally together? This is the first I have seen a two-out rally this whole series.
  18. I am utterly confused right now. We were doing so well in the beginning of the season, with timely hitting and now Yost decides to pull a "Doc Rivers" and gives us a forfeit starting lineup every game? Yost is like the white Doc Rivers, where he decides to play Russian roullette with his starting lineup. Is Yost this clueless? Is Melvin this clueless? Here are some stats I dug up: We are 18th in the Majors in both batting average AND OBP with .262 and .329 respectively. For the NL, we are 8th in those two categories. Somehow we are 3rd in OPS. What exactly does this mean? We don't get on base enough, but we continue to squander runners in scoring position? We need an offensive lineup that can exactly work. Since the start of the second half after the all-star break, these are our averages: Runs scored per game: 3.6 Runs allowed per game: 4.25 One of the reasons I believe Prince Fielder has cooled off considerably with home runs is Yost continues to lame-brain Estrada in the five hole. Fielder's batting average has dropped .16 points since the all-star break. Estrada's batting average with RISP is a whopping .247 and an OBP of .267. The only reason his splits are so well with the bases juiced is that one grand slam he hit awhile back, but it is a small sample size. I have been looking at Estrada's splits a lot and it seems like he does much better 6th or 7th.
  19. I have thought about realignment a lot. Here is my idea: Move the DRays to Indianapolis (Indy has the 12th biggest population in the country) and rename them something that is racing themed for the Indy 500. I looked at some city statistics and Portland has a less of a population than Milwaukee. But in order to make more sense in realigning the divisions, I think there needs to be more teams in the west coast. So lets just for expansion sake, that Portland does get a team. They can call themselves the Lumberkings. Create and expansion team in San Antonio. NL East 1. New York Mets 2. Philadelphia Phillies 3. Washington Nationals 4. Pittsburgh Pirates NL North 1. Milwaukee Brewers 2. Chicago Cubs 3. St. Louis Cardinals 4. Indianapolis (formerly the DRays) NL South 1. Houston Astros 2. Atlanta Braves 3. Cincinnati Reds 4. Florida Marlins NL West 1. Los Angeles Dodgers 2. San Diego Padres 3. San Francisco Giants 4. Arizona Diamondbacks ------------------------------------------------ AL East 1. New York Yankees 2. Boston Red Sox 3. Baltimore Orioles 4. Toronto Blue Jays AL North 1. Chicago White Sox 2. Cleveland Indians 3. Detroit Tigers 4. Minnesota Twins AL South 1. Texas Rangers 2. San Antonio (expansion) 3. Kansas City Royals 4. Colorado Rockies AL West 1. Los Angeles Angels 2. Oakland Athletics 3. Seattle Mariners 4. Portland Lumberkings (expansion) In order to attempt to retain the playoff format, here is how seeding could go... Division winner #1 and Division winner #2 - First round byes Division winner #3 v. Wild Card #2, Division winner #4 v. Wild Card #1 - Best of 3
  20. sveum, shouldn't your statement be made in blue? But hey, give Braun a hand for even thinking of going there. The guy is a Californian and most pro athletes in Wisconsin don't connect with places or cities as much as they used to. So maybe this can be considered a good thing considering that he is open to new surroundings and such. Maybe his time at Lake Geneva is just a time to be in a quiet area and enjoy the finer points of life. It is good to see one of our future guys make a connection to a community outside Milwaukee, albeit a recreational connection.
  21. The weird thing is, even when Braun does go to Lake Geneva, I would doubt many people would recognize him. He does have a distinct face, but he may just dress in average clothes and do whatever a normal person would do and I doubt he would do anything to bring attention to himself. It wouldn't surprise me if he was pumping gas into his car and paid for it in person with cash and the clerk would even recognize him, unless there is a picture of him in a newspaper laying in front of the clerk. He kind of looks like a former coworker of mine in a way.
  22. I was just going through some old pictures of me in NYC today and I realized that I loved the city and had some good experiences in the Big Apple. I guess the reason why is my school paid for my hotel stay at the luxurious Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. I experienced everything a tourist should experience in New York, seeing the Statue of Liberty, going to Central Park, looking at Ground Zero, going to a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden and I even took the Subway a few times (I even risked my life taking the No. 7 to Shea Stadium just to check the area out for some reason.) I even risked my health to eat a hot dog from a street vendor and also took a tour of the offices of Sports Illustrated. Anyone have any cool experiences in New York? For some reason I felt safe walking around Manhattan and there was some law enforcement presence to ensure the safety of people. I guess if I had a choice of a major city in the country, I wouldn't mind living in NYC.
  23. Just reading the glaring mistakes of ESPN analysts and columnists around the country makes my head explode with total, "Huh?"
  24. Actually its www.firejoemorgan.com and it isn't just a bash on Morgan, but also ESPN as a whole. This guy on this website knows what he is talking about.
  25. Rachel McAdams only looked hot in "Wedding Crashers" when she had a dark brown dye job on her hair.
