That is a lot of listening. I just discovered the Colt Cabana one and listened to a few this weekend on some long flights. I don't think I'll listen to all the new ones, but I'll listen if he's got some big name guests. The rest of my daily pod is: The Tony Kornheiser Show MLB.com Fantasy 411 Baseball Tonight I'll listen to about half of the Bill Simmons shows Mike Francesa WFAN when he has a baseball guest Steve Somers WFAN his opening monologues & when he has a baseball guest. That gets me through driving, doing the laundry & dishes, shoveling snow, etc.

ESPN changed their daily baseball podcast, with Buster Olney replacing the Eric Karabell/Keith Law/Mark Simon team. So far, its a couple of weeks old, but I'm not a big fan of the change. Buster plays it like a beat writer, with various beat writer guests. Karabell addressed the show like a fan/fantasy/ columnist & the new show is almost void of humor & fun. I'll stick with it for awhile longer, but its a pretty hard listen right now.
  3. Here's my prediction: Record: 77-85 Division: 4th All Star: Ramirez Disappointments: Braun, Fiers, Weeks Surprises: Gomez World Series: Nats over Angels
  4. Agreed that it seems that way. But that doesn't mean that necessarily is that way. It's still a hot story with a number of news organizations involved. I would think they're all trying to advance it to the next step. ESPN has an insider who they're going to. Maybe they're only willing to give up small bits of info. Biogenesis is closed, so maybe it's an ex-employee whose not getting a paycheck, and they see this as their big opportunity to cash in.
  5. I thought the latest stuff was actual news that ESPN uncovered. They have Biogenesis sources (unnamed) who told them Gio is clean. That's new news to the story broken by the Miami New Times. I'm not a fan of ESPN, but this does appear to be their new development.
  6. I found it interesting that ESPN reported that their sources at Biogenesis have exonerated Gio Gonzalez. They said that he didn't get any banned substances from them, but instead, received things that are not on the banned list. A couple of things on that--I thought he first said that his dad was the client--not him. And in mentioning Gio (and ONLY Gio), are we to believe that the Biogenesis sources are not giving a pass to the others on the list (including Braun)? More speculation from me, but that's my takeaway from the latest news.
  7. Thanks--that worked fine. And thanks to others for their recommendations on Google Chrome. The new Windows 8 is a little quirky for those of us who aren't early adopters of technology. Plus I seem to only get a few minutes at a time to try to figure out this new machine. But I'm on the forum now, and I think it will be easy to get back. . .
  8. I don't think the responses were about joining the military, but instead about the offensive term used in the post.
  9. Whatever the latest version of IE is. I get a "you are forbidden" error. Unless I've been pink-slipped...
  10. I just sprung for the new Lenovo Yoga notebook/tablet. Mostly I got it for the solid state drive as my 4 year old Lenovo started to have hard drive and battery issues. The new one uses Windows 8 for an operating system, and I can't access this forum with it. Is there a solution? I can access the main BF.net page, but then am denied access to here. It seems to get to other websites fine. Thanks!
  11. That kind of passion is what I wish Braun would use in making his own defense. Good one, 'stache.
  12. I think Braun needs a friendly media, and stonewalling isn't a way to make friends. He says he's open to MLB investigators, so has he provided anything directly to them? Has he met with them to clear his name? If he has, he's not saying. So again, he's left himself with the cloud of suspicion over him. And now that ESPN is onto some new info, that might get other news outlets involved, to see if they can scoop them. It feels like Braun is the fox and hounds are on the scent.
  13. I like the WBC. The national pride is cool. Plus I don't get many opportunities to see the Cuban team or the Japanese or Korean teams. I'm not sure that there's that much lost by major leaguers being away from their home camps..maybe in the case of a new double play combination, or catchers working with new pitchers. It doesn't really seem like that big a deal.
  14. Welcome back, Geno-- I've been a fan of your written word since the fastball.com days. Smart and funny stuff always makes me happy.

  16. Perhaps.. But he'll be in camp soon, and he'll face questions, so this issue is basically in a holding pattern until Braun talks. I thought thread-locking was for when people were disrespectful toward each other, or when things became frayed into several side topics, etc. People disagree on Braun's believability at this point, but we're generally playing nice. Close it, leave it open-- whatever. People are going to raise the subject either in this thread or a new one.
  17. I think they directly relate to his relationship with Bosch in the context of why he was on the Biogenesis records. I don't know why that part would be taboo. But I am wandering so far down the speculative path--we all are--that it probably doesn't make much sense to keep guessing. I'm just saying what it would take to get me more towards his side. He'll be in training camp soon, so its a matter of time before some reporter asks him about his sullied reputation. Maybe he'll have more to say then. If not, then he's lost me.
  18. Sure, it wouldn't be lock down proof, but it would be more than just him making his single statement and us being left with questions. There will always be people who will never believe his innocence, but there are others of us who can be sold on his idea if he'd just show more effort. It wouldn't necessarily have to be a banking record, but something. How long did you meet with Bosch? Was it in person? Where? Who else was there? When was the meeting? Why do you think there is a dispute regarding his fees? Have you made a payment to him? I don't expect answers to all those questions, but those are things that an innocent man might be willing to discuss, especially if he wants more of us to believe him.
  19. At a minimum, wouldn't they have a cancelled check or record of a banking transfer?
  20. I don't know the details of any confidentiality agreement between the union and MLB related to these arbitration cases. But I would think it would be limited to the specifics of the case and the evidence presented in it. It's not going to be a permanent muzzle on all things related to a player's fitness. The union wouldn't sign off on that. If he can't answer questions about Bosch or about the Shyam Das case, he could still have Jeff Passan or Buster over to show what his current workout routine is like. Who is his nutritionist? Where does he work out? I guess I'm really looking for more of a PR strategy that isn't so defensive and silent. Go on the offensive. He's a good looking, charismatic guy. People want to believe him. Show us you're putting effort into rebuilding your credibility. I think he can do that without talking about the specifics of last year's case.
  21. Fair enough. He can't talk about the case from last year. But he isn't prevented from talking at all--or from clearing up doubts that exist about who he is right now. An innocent person wouldn't let his public image erode without making a more impassioned plea. Instead, we get a single statement telling us all is well and to trust our guy. I just need more. Though I get it that others don't--and that I'm not likely to get more.
  22. Explain. He actually comes off as a fairly private person to me. If he is private, I was thrown off by the product endorsements and the line of t-shirts and the supermodel fiance and the restaurants named after him. He's not LeRoy Butler, but I get the idea that he's fine with being a celebrity.
  23. I don't think my fingers are in my ears. My problem with Braun isn't that he is unwilling or unable to give me what I want. It's that this very PR-conscious guy hasn't said anything at all about his cleanliness except for his initial statement regarding the consultation fee. Braun hasn't met a camera he hasn't liked. So why is he not doing more to get in front of this story? It's not just the haters who have doubts about him. And he seems to be shrugging his shoulders to that.
  24. He may not need to, but in failing to make a more visible and impassioned response, he allows the public and the media to speculate. That hurts the Ryan Braun brand. You can tell me he's a clean player. You can tell me he's been wronged by MLB and ESPN. But you can't tell me that he's unconcerned with his public image. Braun is the most public player the Brewers have ever had, with restaurants and endorsements and national exposure. He's totally comfortable in the public eye, and outside of Milwaukee, he's thought of as a cheater who got away with it. That doesn't fit with a guy who likes the spotlight.
  25. Thanks very much for the legal info. And I would like to believe that he's always been clean. But he has made such a low-effort, "trust me on this" defense that I just think something is there. If it were me, I'd have daily urine and blood samples going to Rosenthal and Verducci and Heyman. I would have an open invite to any media member to watch me workout, and to talk to my trainers...whatever. He just seems disinterested in trying to clear his name among the fans and media.
