  1. Fault of the American consumer? So I should buy a Cavalier or a Focus or a Neon because it's built in the US? Give me a break. I'll take my Honda. I've had a Chevy Cavalier, Mercury Topaz, Pontiac Grand Am, Dodge Raider, Buick Regal, Chevy S10, Buick Riviera, and a Honda Civic in my life. It's finally nice knowing A) that I will get better than 20 mpg, and B) I won't be spending $500 every 6 months in repairs.
  2. Holy moly, GM practically IS the Janesville economy. Maybe when they had 7,500 employees in a town of 50,000. But now they're only at 2,400 employees and they already knew that at least 750 more were being laid off before this morning's announcement. And now Janesville is pushing 70,000 people. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a big blow, and still very important to the city, it's just not going to make it another Flint, MI like I keep hearing people say.
  3. You couldn't live with Hall's defense at SS? Hmm. If it were as simple as picking between Hardy and Hall if you could get the same return for each of them, I would go with Hall personally. He had his breakout year playing SS everyday for most of the season. His defense is better than just fine. But the problem is as of this moment, Hall has turned in to an unhappy camper, a vocal one at that. So all bets are off, and I really do expect Bill Hall to be traded within the next month.
  4. Well if we're talking teams that could use Bill Hall, there isn't a better fit than the Minnesota Twins.
  5. So I direct deposited, my soc sec ends in the 77 - 00 range and I still haven't gotten my rebate. Where do I go to check on this? I believe (and I hope http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) that even if you got a direct deposit, if you paid $40, $50, or whatever to efile, TurboTax, whatever to have those taxes done, and you had that fee subtracted from your refund, that you will receive a paper check for whatever reason. I went from May 16th to July 11th in that scenario. I know I received a letter a while back stating that I would be receiving $600, so I'm not too worried yet.
  6. Marquette was up against Bradley, Illinois State, Saint Louis, and DePaul for Wade's services.
  7. Well, for me, whenever I comment on this topic, I never bring up Fielder's production (I do have an opinion on the matter though). I am just simply saying that you can tell he's fatter this year than last year, just by looking at him. That would be looking at him in person at Miller Park, on television, in pictures. That's all I'm saying. Whether or not his obvious (to me) extra poundage is the cause for his mediocre season thus far, I don't know. Pitchers could be pitching him different, again, I don't know. But it seems like whenever people just say 'dude is fatter than last year' we get all these people calling people ridiculous for a [insert small sample length] slump being related to his weight. I'm not arguing that, quite frankly, because it's not worth the time. I'm just saying that looking at him, he has gained weight.
  8. I agree with Gopher. All the statements about "Prince is clearly bigger than last year", seem to be based on personal opinion. I think he looks about the same, personally. No one has offered any serious concrete evidence that he is significantly bigger, or has lost muscle mass, put on fat, etc. No one really knows how he's eating, either. I know someone posted that they "know someone in the locker room" who said Prince eats salads with lots of cheese and Doritos and junk, but that's about it. Not exactly concrete evidence, IMHO. Ah, I love these types of arguments. Of course no one has concrete evidence that Prince is fatter this year. Unless one of us sneaks in to his bedroom, knocks him out, weighs him, and tests his body fat etc. that concrete evidence you're pining for just isn't going to be disclosed. Oh, and then jump in our time machine, go back a year ago, and do the same thing. He IS listed 10 pounds heavier than he was last year. And we all know how the listed heights and weights of any athlete are exaggerated one way or another. And in this case if Prince is LISTED at 270 pounds, I think it's safe to say he weighs considerably more than that. Of couse, I have no proof, so if you need proof to form an opinion in this argument, I guess he's fit as a fiddle, and hasn't gained a pound since last year...oops, I mean except for the 10 that is listed publicly. Sometimes, you just need to trust the old eyeballs.
  9. I think this is a good get for Marquette. However, I too don't want to start a UW-MU war when I say that UW didn't want him.
  10. Do yourself a favor and google some pictures of Prince when he was with Nashville. You will see a big dude. That only proves our point further. Yes, he was always a big dude. But before this year, he was big...not sloppy fat looking. I'm sorry if you don't see the difference, and you probably don't see the difference from those Nashville days either. I'm not saying his fatness has been the reason for his mediocre start to the season, but you said it, if he was hitting .308 with 14 bombs, this thread wouldn't exist. Bingo. You're probably right, but we'd still notice the change in his appearance...we just wouldn't care. Kind of like I don't care that Ryan Braun is a prick in the eyes of other teams...I know he is, but I don't really care. Prince is not even close to those numbers, so here we are.
  11. Didn't Olney say for sure after 2009, but that he thought it would be after this year?
  12. Why aren't the Brewers contenders? Because I don't think they're good. They have a bad manager. Their pitching isn't good. Gallardo isn't coming back. Yeah, the Cardinals and the Astros are just pretenders I know (don't really believe it), but when is the sample size big enough to say, hey the Astros and Cardinals are pretty good...or at least better than our beloved Brewers.
  13. Yes, the battle stuff is tired. The only problem is, it's not the joke that's tired...it's Ned Yost using battle over and over and over again. It's not as if he used the term once and we're all stuck on it...that's how Yost describes the happenings game in and game out.
  14. I guess I just don't see Milwaukee as some kind of great landing spot for Maddux, regardless of family members here. A contender with your brother as pitching coach, that'd be different.
  15. It's like James Gandolfini trying to play defense, of course he's going to struggle. I'm more worried about the fact that he's turning in to Lyle Overbay at the plate.
  16. Player slumps, go out of your way to find a reason regardless of whether or not it is true. Sums up this thread. Speaking for myself, I didn't even mention his play. I am talking about how freaking fat the guy looks. You're either in denial or you need to have your eyes checked if you don't think he's fatter this year. Since you brought it up, his production this year might very well be because of his healthiness or stamina or strength, I don't know...what I do know from the old eyeball test is that he's fatter this year.
  17. But he does jiggle. Dude is getting fatter by the week.
  18. He's definitely fatter.
  19. I don't recall Portland being a big market. Nope, but they had a talented nucleus already in fold. I should have specified that the type of team I'm talking about isn't necessarily driven by market (San Antonio w/David Robinson getting Tim Duncan), but when the team is A) talented yet underachieved etc and B) large market, it's a good bet they'll get the #1 pick. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'm half kidding...cough...Patrick Ewing to the Knicks. There are just too many convenience coincidences that go along with the lottery. Lebron James goes to his pretty much hometown Cavs...the Magic getting the #1 overall pick for the second consecutive year to add talent to Shaq. And when there isn't a worthy guy there at #1, Toronto gets it! Again, I'm half kidding. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Of course the Bulls moved up to #1. The team has tons of talent, is in a big market, and just had an extremely crappy year. These kinds of teams land #1 picks every other year.
  21. Now, I'd be all for some lineup changes and things like that, I just dont think critiquing his interview style and responses should lead to hiring/firing Of course his interview style shouldn't lead to his firing...how far he's taken the team is grounds enough for that. The interview style is just an extension of his personality. It's a constant reminder of how this guy isn't the right guy for the job. His responses to 'tough' questions can be looked at as how he deals with 'tough' situations in his job.
  22. I guess you just don't get it naivin. I have no idea how to lay out concrete proof on some things, because I don't know what would happen. And neither do you. See the post above your last one to at least try and comprehend what some of us are talking about.
  23. And why does it have to be public criticism? Why can't you just say four errors is unacceptable? Why do you have to say "The World Champions made errors too, so...?" That's what I'm talking about. I'm not saying he should say "Bill Hall really sucked today." I'm saying I'm sick of the crap he spews after another embarrassment. He's clueless.
  24. Naivin, I have a straight forward question for you. When the Brewers do finally part ways with Ned Yost, what will your stance be then? Will you be mad?
  25. What would it accomplish? How about showing that the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers has a clue?
