  1. Michigan suspending Howard the rest of the season per Dan Wetzel edit: rest of regular season
  2. B1G is announcing something soon. I'm starting to think one of the UW coaches might get a game or two suspension.
  3. I’m not a fan of the ‘you just need to figure out how not to make him mad’ narrative as that’s been used since the dawn of time to enable bad behavior in people who can’t control their emotions. Guarantee if Gard had just walked away people would have crowed about him "backing down" or some nonsense like that.
  4. I don't think that's really apples to apples. He substituted his bench at that point.
  5. Someone may have touched on this but I didn't know until this morning that UW only had 4 seconds to get the ball across halfcourt because the ball was knocked out of bounds.
  6. Is it really worth taking your time for $2 items? I'd just donate them and use it as a tax write-off. I contacted a place that takes used computers/equipment and donates them to needy families/schools/shelters, but they wanted me to mail it to them at my expense and then write off the cost of postage. There's another place here, but limited hours and not nearby. And if I'm selling it at such a low price, aren't I helping someone else by essentially giving it to them? I wonder if the $2 throws people off? Maybe giving it away for free or jacking the price up would work better. At $2 people might think it's poor quality. I dunno...people are weird.
  7. Howard could have turned around and gone back the way he came....towards the locker room. The end of the floor from which he came is where the teams both go. I doubt his plan was to continue down the line and shake hands. And not allowing him to walk away is stretch. That makes it sound like Gard had established position and was waiting to draw a charge. He stepped in front of Howard for a split second and then moved.
  8. Wait, you mean this about Gard and are citing a situation manufactured by a guy on power grab, rather than Howard whose history apparently includes threatening to kill Mark Turgeon last year? https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2935895-report-maryland-alleges-juwan-howard-told-mark-turgeon-ill-f-king-kill-you.amp.html and he called a timeout down double digits with under a minute to go against OSU like a week ago
  9. also, Johnny Davis is awesome.
  10. I was at the game. best part was the "NIT" chant the students gave the Michigan players as they left the floor after the scrum.
  11. zero chance Gard gets suspended. if Howard doesn't throw a punch are we looking at that "grab" as anything at all? therefore why should he be punished for it?
  12. Michigan was pressing fouling and didn't even clear their bench. Howard can go pound sand.
  13. Steelers have hired Brian Flores as senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach
  14. Yeah Peacemaker was great...even more so because the music is right in my Gen X wheelhouse. I'm enjoying Reacher too.
  15. Sure but why don't we say the same thing about the owners? Probably because we have no idea what they make. It's kind of funny the hero worship/distortion that goes on in the baseball labor fight. Just change the context, what if instead of baseball players they were all auto workers for a single American car company. In a wage dispute, the auto workers could always leave and go make cars for another company in Mexico, Japan or Korea but wouldn't be paid as much as they currently get. They don't have the skill set to move to a different industry (NFL, NBA, NHL) so they're stuck as auto workers. The auto workers make the finished product, but don't own the finished product. It's the car company's obligation to continue to market the product, sell the product; and the auto worker's don't share in any of that cost or risk. Certainly, if the car company is really successful they could share more of their profits with the workers, but they're under no real obligation to do so, and wouldn't be alone in America sharing none of their profits with their workers. As most sides do in a labor fight the MLBPA is trying to win in the Court of public opinion. In reality they have less leverage than it seems. The owners always could go the same way they did in '95 and offer $25,000 guarantees to professional players not in organized baseball to come to spring training with another $100,000 guaranteed if they make an opening day roster, and they'd have to beat of the folks who show up in Arizona and Florida with a stick. I'm sorry but your analogy is off. Almost anybody can learn to be an auto worker. You don't like it, fine we'll hire someone else and won't see a difference in productivity. MLB players are the 1/10th of 1% and Soto is in the top 10% of that. He wants to leave? Fine, we'll hire Chris Magruder's younger brother to play instead.
  16. Sure but why don't we say the same thing about the owners? Probably because we have no idea what they make.
  17. Yikes what? Yikes that Soto is cognizant of his market value & didn't want to settle for less than his actual worth within the economic structure of MLB? Juan is slated for 16-17 million in Arby's this year with two more trips after that before free agency. That's like 70 million right there, which would essentially mean he is signing a 10/280 deal as a 26 year old free agent when he could be in line for a contract in the neighborhood of 400 million by going year to year. Boras knows what he is doing. Yeah my first thought when I saw that number was that it was pretty low considering Betts got 12/365 million
  18. loss to Rutgers might not look so bad after today
  19. Actually, yeah, I grew up with someone who was a competitive speed skater with Olympic aspirations. And she worked/trained way harder than the other best athlete at our school who ended up having a successful pro sports career. That makes one of us, and I've lived in 11 different cities in 7 different states in three different time zones including NY, LA, and Chicago. I've met a helluva lot of people. As for your second point, that is my point - natural talent for a sport is more important than how hard you train. It's kind of a gray area and depends on the sport. You should read The Sports Gene by David Epstein.
  20. I wasn't aware of it until today. Might have been a rumor going around but it's official now.
  21. Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley have broken off their engagement per TMZ.
  22. It probably depends on the sport.
  23. Giannis leads the league in points per game and is 54th in the league in minutes per game.
  24. Stearns leaves. Arnold gets promoted. Continue on as you have been.
