If betting on games is over the line, is it over the line for owners to put gambling kiosks in the stadiums and directly profit from gambling revenue that is generated from the performance of teams that they own? It was never proven or even believed that Rose ever bet against his team. So the grey area becomes, since he is so close to the game, could he have conspired with an opponent to fix a game and benefit from his gambling? That is why I had previously opposed Rose going into the Hall of Fame. But are owners not so close to the game where it's impossible to think that they could give a direct order to a manager in an effort to try to affect the outcome of a game? I honestly don't think "baseball" (being owners, Hall of Fame voters) can have it both ways. Either ban the concept of owners making 1 penny off of gambling, or put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. And to state it again, I was 100% against Rose being in the Hall of Fame prior to a bunch of already filthy rich owners decided they needed to be involved in GAMBLING ON BASEBALL GAMES in order to put even more money in their pockets. I think your point only applies if the owners themselves are gambling on the outcome of the games which they could have done without the in-stadium sportsbooks and kiosks. I'm fine letting everyone in the hall of fame that performed on the field. For some reason, we treat it like getting beatified by the Catholic Church.

No. There hasn't been good personnel for about 15 years because they don't care about the ST unit. They load the roaster with developmental OL and TEs. They also had some awful injuries over that time period which forces some ST players off ST. I honestly don't know if their personnel is that much worse. I do know that having your long snapper on punts block a guy one on one with no help behind him is not how all teams do it.

He's been on the coaching staff for a few years. It's possible they are trying to find another position and are seeing what shakes out with the Hackett hire or gave him an offer and are letting him mull it over. Just seems like firing him the day after the game would be to placate fans more than anything.

I guess I don't see the problem. It's upsetting to the fans but what does it matter if they do it immediately after the game or two weeks/months later? Only way I see it being an issue is if there's someone else they want to hire and they get snapped up. Maybe they want someone on one of the remaining team? I dunno. Just don't see it as a big deal unless he's still coach next year.

Talking about WRs made me go look at who was drafted in Rd 2 or later in the 2020 draft and that made me sad. (Tee Higgins and Michael Pittman in particular)

So did the last one - nailing an introductory press conference is probably the easiest thing a GM has to do, and honestly one of the most pointless to actually turn a franchise into a perennial contender. Spielman never struck me as all that bright when he was doing the ESPN thing prior to the Vikings.
